gaming Do you name your Pokemon?

Sometimes I name them but lately I've gotten lazy trying to think of names so I skip it.

I usually know what set of moves the Pokemon will have so if you have seen the memes then I usually name them so that when they say, "___, used ____". It says something funny. Like ginger!! Use attract. The move failed!! Lol XD

I always name mine, my two favourite Pokemon are Latias and Latios, which I naturally named Wiggles and Giggles (respectively) .

I only name them anymore because it's a habit I got into because of nuzlockes. Some examples of nicknames I've used.

 

Charizard- Yolvendov which is Skyrim dragon language for fire wind dragonkind

Gyarados- Jormangundr AKA the massive world snake that kills Thor during Ragnarok

Haxorus- Scrag ... Don't really have an explanation for this one I just like the way it sounds

Tyrantrum- Dictator after all it is the tyrant lizard king (Tyrannosaurus Rex)

Blaziken- Surtr another destructive thing from Ragnarok

Gengar- Renegade ... It's a spooky ghost

Salamence- Alduiin oh hello eater of worlds from Skyrim

Metagross- Ragnarok ...Speaking of things that will end the world

Only those pokemon that I really care about or when I'm doing a nuzlocke.

 

In my leaf green nuzlocke, I named my pokemon after shakespeare characters.

 

Pidgeot -> Juliet (Romeo was a fearow I caught on route 4)

Gyarados -> Shylock

Ninetails -> Nerissa (She and Shylock were actually one heck of a team in the last battle)

Venusaur -> Antonio

Jolteon -> Gratiano

Lapras -> Prospero

 

 

In my current run of emerald, I'm a bit more unorganized about it. 

 

Azumarill - Pikablu (pokegod reference)

Makuhita - Clay (after the xiaolin showdown character)

Combusken - ColSanders

Vigoroth - Galumph

I always name my Pokemon, whether it be something obvious like naming my Totodile "Twi", or something silly like naming my Swampert "Blaziken", I've always got something great to name them.

If some of these nicknames seem to long, it's because I used showdown for a lot of them, and they allow longer nicknames.

I've picked up the game of Red that I had gotten halfway through last year, and decided to actually name my Pokemon. Some are MLP references, some are other pop culture references, some are just dumb jokes. Off the top of my head I have

 

Raticate- Bitey

Machoke- Roid Rage

Horsea- Shoobedoo

Gyrados- Mr. Fish

Alakazam- Hindenburg

Haunter- Spoopy

Snorlax- Jabba

Blue Moon is the best name, naturally.

I didn't play it that much (I borrowed a friend's game and played a couple of hours) but I did name my pokemon after british tanks - the starter I named challenger, then scorpion, scimitar, so on and so fourth.
