Hasbro has released it's first Friendship Games exclusive short called "The Science of Magic" today. Also, there's the mane five have instruments again like they do in Rainbow Rocks! :D

Much like Sunset's chapter book, she more or less is acting as a Twilight clone in this one in her mannerisms :P

 

Anyways, nothing really special here; its decent, got a couple good parts (Like AJ nonchalantly walking away from sunset under the apples), but nothing really Special. 6/10 (5 being average)

One question. Why does it say Fluttershy 525 in the bottom right hand corner?

That's basically it's a watermark from that channel.

Until now I've been out of the loop on the new movie while trying to avoid spoilers.

 

I'm glad to see it looks like they are sticking with the music based theme. I've been looking forward to some more great songs. The first half of this season has been a little light on the music side of things IMO.

Sorry to pop your bubble, but the new "exclusive shorts" are NOT a prequel to EG3.

 

The script for EG3 was made from a request from HASBRO in early 2014 (they decided the toys and the setting, then the writters do what they can with it).

This new shorts are based on the fourth book of Equestria Girls: "Sunset Shimmer´s Time to Shine" (a sequel to the novelization of Rainbow Rocks); witch was published around the same time HASBRO was thinking the toyline for 2015.

 

In other words, we are watching another post-credits extra scenes deleted from Rainbow Rocks (like the Encore Songs).

The use of instruments and music as a powersource for the "pony up" is now as obsolete as the missing "Crown & Element of Magic" [it will just not work again the same way if they try to weaponize it].

How the new games would be mixed with magic... I have no idea (it is better that way!).

this short was amazing,hope too see a couple that have the shadowbolts in them I really want to see sugar coat and sour sweet in action.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a bit of them in subsequent shorts

Yeah, never mind a transparent, glowing, and magical apple that came out of nowhere  :dash:

 

wonder if we will see both twilights or just the human world version?

This short hinted a bit  Sunny might feel homesick, not to mention she might write her poor findings of magic in the human world, so she might send a message to pony Twi. It's safe to say, both Twi will show up in the shorts

Wow, I love this short. I've watched it several times now, and I just can't get enough of that music. :P

 

And just when I think I can't get any more enamored with Sunset Shimmer, she goes all science geek on us with the lab coat and the adorkable eagerness for hands on science testing. I'm especially impressed with the vocal work for Sunny here. Shoichet's delivery for every one of those lines is just bursting with character. <3

 

Can't wait for more shorts!

do have to admit, these all being based on the "time to shine" book really sucks a little bit of enthusiasm out of me. It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't INCREDIBLE, and I now know all the shorts coming up then XD

I actually do agree somewhat here, in that I think the musical aspect of the last movie was WAY more interesting/better than what Friendship games looks to be.

Just wanted to comment on this here about the EOH: so sad they're gone from FIM; they were so much more elegant and eyepleasing than Rainbow power :(
