Makazi 317 September 3, 2015 Author Share September 3, 2015 I'm saying it does not matter because it's not real. I say it doesn't matter because even the characters don't seem to care anymore, So why I should I care? Since they aren't real, we don't know what's going on in their heads. Chances are they could still be upset about the loss, but they don't show or mention it. However, I'm not one of the characters in the show, I'm a real individual watching the show, and I have my own opinions and emotions. Just because the characters act and feel a certain way doesn't mean I have to; that would be fallacious if I did. I don't laugh when I hear an unfunny joke on a sitcom simply because they put a laugh track over it--no, I have my own responses.

Just let me focus my time and energy on the stuff I want to spend it on. I made the thread because I was stating an opinion and was looking for a discussion on the subject, not because I wanted to start a debate. I'm not saying you have to agree with my opinion, and I'm perfectly fine if people disagree, but to sling epithets around such as 'new low', 'hissy fit', and most recently 'whining' when I was merely supplementing my opinion and the reasons for it, I think that's somewhat unnecessarily hostile. I'm sorry if my thread offended you; it was not my intent.
Inactive01 5,299 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 (edited) I'm already accustomed to it really. It's easy for me to get used to new things in shows. I'm less used to losing things in shows, especially when it came to Twilight's Library. Edited September 3, 2015 by Pony On The Shore

Cwanky 17,570 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 So according to the wiki the castle's official name is: Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Castle. Sweet Celestia, it sounds as tacky as it looks.
LZRD WZRD 1,929 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 I don't think so. Thus far it pales in comparison to the old library. The staff seem to get this and as a result have minimized its usage in season 5. The concept isn't necessarily bad, but the design of the castle is just awful. It seems like an afterthought, which is strange for such an important setting. 3 Check out my channel for awesome video reviews and analysis! https://www.youtube.com/c/LZRDWZRD
Celli 4,338 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 It will never replace Twilight's library in my opinion, because that hat a really homey look to it, sad to see it gone still, but I'm not going to stop watching the show just because there's a huge gaudy crystal castle in the middle of ponyville. Basically, I'm neutral.

Unlikeable Pony 2,698 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 So according to the wiki the castle's official name is: Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Castle. Sweet Celestia, it sounds as tacky as it looks. I think that's why they never actually give it a name *In show* XD That being said, I have a feeling the staff would argue night and day to be allowed to give it a different name in show if they were forced to call it something.
TailsIsNotAlone 3,695 September 3, 2015 Share September 3, 2015 For the record, I'd rather own a toy set of the old library than that crystal monstrosity. I'm sure I'll get accustomed to Twilight's castle, yes. But I don't think I'll ever like it much. It looks more like a status symbol than a comfortable place to live. 4 "Human beings fascinate me Being just the way they are..."

Goat-kun 2,527 September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 Twilight’s so called “castle” is like a girl archer with a D-cup. They were both made specifically to appeal to a certain public while disregarding all functionality. Castle is a fort made to defend against intruders, and archer cannot shoot well with two big ones bouncing on her thorax. But I guess you’re right: making a crystal dream treepalace bears no such gender related statements and truly homes in the narrative that young girls want action toys (I’m looking at you Black Widow). At least our archer can cut the right one off like an Amazon, but this giant salt lamp is shit forever. But don’t take this too hard. If you really wanna buy it, I won’t judge. It’s a crystal dream treepalace after all. Who doesn’t want one?
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,354 September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 I already am, if that counts. See, ever since she became a princess and I became obsessed with that, I have always wanted her to have her own awesome castle and when she did, I felt like a dream came true on that. So not only am I accustomed to the idea, I love it. :3

Tapfire 92 September 9, 2015 Share September 9, 2015 (edited) Hey, if they find alchemy and turn twilight's castle into an actual tree rather than the current "Princess Castle | Made in Crystal Empire" then I'll be fine with it. But that won't happen until Spike is treated fairly and Half Life 3 comes out, so no, I won't. However, I'll probably wake up tomorrow and not care. So the paragraph above is pointless. Sugar Cube 4,843 September 10, 2015 Share September 10, 2015 I'm completely fine with it and am used to it already. It's as was stated previously, that FiM is proving itself more and more to be not just a slice of life series, but one with real progress, continuity, and change. I liked Twilight's library home OK and all, but showing her have to grow accustomed to a new home is a relatable subject for anyone, and shows just how far her character has come since she was a student of Celestia's. I actually think the map is a slightly forced, but overall cool twist that opens up lots of potential for new adventure episodes as well as some individual one-on-one character bonding between the friends. And hey, it shows that Ponyville itself is moving up in the world. A simple and quaint town where everypony knows everypony now has its own princess and castle. How cool is that? SolyWack 482 September 10, 2015 Share September 10, 2015 I won't say I wholeheartedly enjoy it, but i'm sure it will grow on me. One of the big reasons i'm okay with it is actually a reason you stated. Twilight's house blew up, and it stayed blown up. In many cartoons, the universe could implode, but next episode, everythings A Ok. Not in MLP. As you said, it is much more advanced, and as long as the writers keep that continuity, I can live with the change in scenery.

Moony the Cat 3,702 September 10, 2015 Share September 10, 2015 I see it the same way, as with the series One Piece, when the straw hats loses their first ship, the flying lamb. It was a very sad episode and i almost cried but after that i was okay again and was happy that they got an even bigger ship. The same with the library, of course its sad that its gone now but sometimes something like this has to happen to give the series more emotions. Now she has a big castle. Im fine with that Sig made by Kyoshi
TFarrgon 57 September 10, 2015 Share September 10, 2015 I was like "yeah losing the library was a hard moment" but I think it actually makes the show more dynamic. If EVERYTHING was the same all the time it probably wouldn't be interesting. A big thing for me is for the characters to change and learn and you see that all the time here. This is probably one of the first shows like this that dynamically changes, this is why I stopped watching Spongebob, because he never changes at least 100 episodes in and he is still an idiot. Twilight and the others change all the time as did Twilight's house emphasizing good character and story development. So I for one think this is a good thing, as said in the show, the memories of it will live on and we will miss it, but we will also make new memories with the castle. 2 Made by Kyoshi
