How do you feel when you're buying MLP stuff in a shop?

Awww man, I remember the first time I bought the toys. When I went to the cashier I said something along the lines of, "I'm, uh, bu-buying this for my neice!" Not realizing that she simply didn't care, she looked straight into my eyes to kind of give me a rude "I don't care at all" kind of message but like, I think she then saw my overjoyed face when the toy was put into the bag and instead of leaving the store on a clean notice, she looked half way disturbed. Needless to say, I found myself laughing out loud that I even bought the thing as I left the store, which more likely than not brought even more awkward looks from all the old people in the store than a teenager buying a toy possibly could do alone.

Now I just buy them like a normal person, and nobody cares.

How much ponies? What series?

Let's see... I have several of the 5.00 ones you get at Target/Walmart (they are more at Toys 'R' Us) like these:

I have a Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Applejack. I also have two Pinkie Pies, one that I just bought alone (THE BEGINNING) and another that came with the Friendship Express Train set. I am considering getting another train to make the tracks longer... it was on sale and I had a coupon the first time so it only set me back like 12 dollars. The Twilight came with a scooter and helmet, which I put with Rainbow because they look better. I also have a Lemon Hearts figurine from the blind bags (was trying for a Mane 6 character but SOMEPONY had opened several of the bags and filled them with Twilight Sparkles. Not that I didn't want Twilight Sparkles, I just wanted a nice, closed bag. At the very least, people should open them neatly by pulling the bottom of the bag open without tearing them. :mellow: And without replacing the toys.). I also found on clearance a soft polyester blanket with Twi and Celestia, and I also got the comforter and sheets set because they were all more than 50% off. I am going to put them on my bunk at college next fall. *muahaha* I recently got a RD shirt that says "This Shirt Just Got 20% Cooler" HotTopic. Then Friendship Express DVD, 2 of each of the McDonald's toys and the display they were in, and the poster advertising the McDonald's toys...

:wacko::blink:

I have a problem. :blush::P

Someone on Equestria Daily wrote something to this effect: You aren't a man until you walk up to a cashier with an arm full of pink ponies and tell them that they're for YOU.

And they're pretty much right. This is how I feel whenever I get awkward glances at the store where I shop:

I normally don't think to much of it, but I have gotten strange looks from the younger cashiers.

I think it may embarrass my friends when they're with me though. Ehehe...

The cashier of my usual dont give a damn. And I dont either.

I remember one time he looked at me weird. I was only going to buy one pony but I forgot my money, so I asked him if it was ok to pay with a credit card but it wasn't enough (it was like 6 euros and i have to spend 10 to use a credit card).

His face when I came back 2 minutes later wihth 3 other ponies and asked him, "So ! Is it enough now?".

The actualy ackward part is when I nead painting and go to my usual games workshop boutique.

Now the boss wants me to come with my Celestia so I can make a custom one in front of everyone, he think it's gonna be fun.

Conclusion: madness is contagious.

I collect dolls and figures so I really have no shame in looking at Monster High and stuff but ponies?

"Light steps. Make sure no cute boys are looking...Oooh Dashie!" Gawk then sulk over being broke. But when my friend and I got our Blind Bags?

"Uh er well um we were just-" When my mom asked us what we found.

"....They're cute!" Was our brilliant response. Which is true....My mom's cool with it at least....

Not this Saturday though. *grin*

Ehhh, I have no problem with it because I'm a girl I guess.

But I did attract a few stares when I freaked out over there being just one MLP balloon left at the royal sydney easter show.

I was showing my mom the two t-shirts I recently bought online (one Derpy and one Fluttershy shirt). She was pretty cool about it being from My Little Pony, and was surprised that the prints looked nothing like the MLP she grew up with. And then we crossed upon a bright yellow polo shirt with Fluttershy's cutie mark embroidered on the chest. Needless to say, we had a good laugh about that. XD

This was the first time I had bought a cartoon-themed t-shirt, let alone one of MLP, so I was a little nervous to show my mom, but she appeared to be quite understanding that it's like any other cartoon. Now I just need to think of an explanation for the Pinkie Pie pocket pony I've been wanting to get for a while.

She was pretty cool about it

Mine nearly had an heart attack only by hearing that I like MLP. And I dont want to show her the rest. (I actualy had 8 ponies figurines, all brushed and a derpy and a surprise one made by myself).

Hope you realise how lucky you are. ^^

Is she surprised because she thinks you like the older MLP? Maybe explaining to her what the show has become would convince her that it's a much more "normal" or "general audience" of a cartoon this time around. Shatter her misconceptions!

Nope, she is "shocked" that I'm watching something that 'isn't of my age", it could have been the manliest cartoon it could have been the same.

For her a cartoon cant have a "general audience".

My dear mumy is probably the less open'-minded woman I know, she doesn't even try to understant and belive me I tried to help.

But she know how to cook awesome meals so I wont complain ^^

First time I brought one, I was too tired to care. (I had to do a lot of walking.)

  • 3 months later...

I was just curious how people felt when going to a store to buy pony toys, and if it was embarrassing for anyone. I know the shirts at Hot Topic and the trading cards are really meant for bronys/pegasisters, but what about buying the toys? Particularly when going to a toys only store like Toys-R-Us?

I got a dirty look from a mother once, who's daughter wasn't even looking at pony toys. Also one time a male cashier started talking to me about ponies while I was checking out... He told me he was a brony. He was pretty excited to meet a pegasister I guess, lol.

I'm never embarrassed to express my love for something so awesome. Even though it's kind of weird for a high schooler to buy a pony toy, I've never received an odd glance from a parent (I've only received some envious glances from children, lol).
