Discord x Celestia doesn't make much sense to me

I know this does not mean much, coming from a guy who really likes human x Celestia (it doesn't make much sence... at all but I like it anyway) Discord x Celestia doesn't make much sence to me. I can't wrap my head around Dislestia, I would simply be baffled if they ever made it canon.

 

I mean, sure she and Discord could be his friend and all, but not much beyond that. Celestia wants harmony and peace with ponies and non ponies alike, Discord just wants chaos.

 

Those don't seem to fit well together due to that. Discord's loyalty to Equestria is questionable. He basically took over Equestria two times. Not only he recently portrayed Equestria to join with Tirek?! That's like falling in love with someone who has just after been hanging out with the dark lord Sauron to have a few drinks?

 

 

I repeat, I know this doesn't mean very much coming from a guy, who loves wish fulfillment shipfics with her and a human. But disregarding that, does this ship with her and Discord and her really make much sense?

I'll admit, when I first watched Return of Harmony, Celestia and Discord's bickering sounded so much like a pair of Ex's to me that I entertained for a while the idea that they were once a thing. I've seen weirder ships before and since.

It actually makes a weird kind of sense to me.

 

Firstly, Discord is one of Celestia's only peers.  They both have longevity in common; having lived for hundreds of years and being able to relate to one another over this fact.  Plus having a significant other that you won't have to watch grow old and die while you remain young is probably something that Celestia would cherish and may be the reason that she's still single.

 

Second, there's always the old adage that states "opposites attract".  With Celestia representing harmony and Discord being the poster-boy for chaos, they're a perfect match.  You have to believe that, with all of her royal duties, Celestia gets really bored and lonely sitting on her golden throne.  Discord seems like the right guy to bring a lot of fun and companionship into her life just like he did for Cadence and Twilight in Three's A Crowd.

 

So yeah, I think they'd make a good match, maybe not while Fluttershy is alive, but at some point in the future.

It makes perfect sense. Celestia would love trolling him now that he is good and think his quirks are adorable or his tantrums. Especially since she liked Discord at the GGG. But I fear it'd be a short lived romance, as Discord is a bit slow for her and she would get bored of him too. But she would enjoy making him nervous I bet.

 

Besides they already said Flutters is just his friend. And Flutters doesn't treat him like a lover either, Celestia was more playful with him than Fluttershy. I dont see DiscoShy ending well emotionally either. Other than Discord protecting Flutters then she feels charmed that he would do that for her. But that relies on adverse ponies badgering Flutters and Discord standing up for her. But she could feel the same for friends tbh, it wouldn't require a relationship after that, whereas with Celestia being rather playful is alot closer to suggestive of a potential ship.

Admittedly, they both do like playing the long game, thinking moves ahead & manipulating events to the best outcome.

Sure, character is a fluid thing, the living can change and so too can their opinions of others but...

I don't know about how well others get over grudges, but would you get back together with someone who hit you with a lazerbeam and stuck you in an immovable prison for a good portion of your life? Sort of a black mark on a relationship in my book! Sure, maybe if he sees her as just a step in the process that got him imprisoned and not a direct judge & jury, and maybe that he felt, in retrospect, that it was something that had to be done, but still....

 

Hmm....does anyone ever ship Discord & Luna? That'd be a neat couple. Somepony who's right to be suspicious and the most suspicious character of them all!

In a way, it does make sense for me. Celestia is royalty, but she hates the stiff decorum she's expected to adhere to, as evidenced by her delight in trolling ponies and seeing the Grand Galloping Gala going straight to hell. Discord is a trickster deity who loves to sow chaos, which complements that aspect of her personality nicely.

 

Now, you might argue that Celestia and Discord are ancient enemies. Well, yes, they are. But Discord has been reformed and the two of them have centuries ahead of them to get to know and trust each other more, especially since Discord has a lot to learn about friendship and all that goes with it and she might be able to help him when Fluttershy isn't around anymore (unless he made her immortal or something)

 

I don't full-on ship the two, but I can certainly see why people might and how it could be done.

Well, since reading Friends Forever #20 I've been a LunaCord shipper. That issue actually managed to establish legit chemistry between Luna and Discord as well as things they have in common, such as both being trapped/banished due to their villainous actions, which they are still trying to atone for, as well as being absent for 1000 years and returning to a world that's different from the one they left behind. Meanwhile, in camp DisLestia, Discord gave Celestia flowers that one time. Ok, KP did make the argument that their banter in Return of Harmony could be construed as laced with romantic tension, but I'm still not convinced. There's merit to the FlutterCord ship, but DisLestia...eh....I mean if you ship that then cool, but it's not one of my ships.
