Recommended Season 5 Episodes?

So, okay, let me just say this isn't for me but for a friend who has not seen season 5 yet but only wants to watch the good episodes from this season. Off the top of my head, I can show him The Cutie Map, Slice of Life and Make Friends but Keep Discord. Are there others you guys can recommend for him?

I would say:

 

Slice of life (Amazing!), Amending Fences, Rarity Investigates (also amazing!), Make Friends But Keep Discord, Crusaders of the Lost Mark (also also amazing!), Brotherhooves Social and (this a controversial opinion) Tanks for the Memories. Those are my favorites so far this season, I was kinda 'meh' on The Cutie Map. I feel like Tanks for the Memories is highly underrated given it's very dark but well done undertones.

Follow up question: is it necessary to have watched Appleloosa's Most Wanted before watching Crusaders of the Lost Mark? Or could it be left out?

"Cutie Map", "Tanks for the Memories" (which I disliked, but it has a good Moral), "Lost Treasure of Griffonstone", "Amending Fences" "Do Princesses dream of Magic Sheep?", "Canterlot Boutique", "Rarity investigates", "Made in Manehatten" and "Brotherhooves Social" and the latest one "Crusaders of the lost Mark"

 

Seriously aside from having the in my Opinion worst Episode in it (Party Pooped) this Season was really enjoyable with way to much Episodes to recommend

The Cutie Map, Amending Fences and Crusaders of the Lost Ark. All three are universally-loved episodes thanks to their wonderful storytelling, their strong morals and their decent humour.

 

However, I also do think you should ask your friend what he likes about MLP:FiM. If he doesn't care about fanservice, then he'll dislike Slice of Life. If he watches MLP:FiM mainly for the morals, then he should watch Bloom & Gloom. If he would rather watch something fresh rather than overdone multiple times, then perhaps Appleloosa's Most Wanted is not an episode he should watch. You get what I mean. The more you understand what he admires most about the show, the better you can think of which episodes he should watch.

Nope, the two are only related in the loosest sense, so Appleloosa's Most Wanted can be skipped entirely.

 

I would recommend Amending Fences for sure, as well as Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep? (Luna episodes have some of the best titles, I swear), Slice of Life, Castle Sweet Castle, Tanks for the Memories, Made in Manehattan, The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone and Crusaders of The Lost Mark.

"Amending Fences," "Crusaders of the lost Mark," "Rarity investigates," "Tanks For the Memories." Pretty much all of Season 5 is amazing. Or, you can just start by showing him map episodes like "The Cutie Map Parts 1 + 2," "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone," "Made in Manehattin" and "The Hooffields and Mccolts" when it comes out.

Rarity Investigates I think is one of the stronger episodes for 'outsiders' as they'll be able to identify with the Film Noir genre, and a mystery keeps things interesting.

Amending Fences, Tanks for the Memories and Crusaders of the Lost Mark are great (Tier 1) episodes.

 

Of course, this is just my opinion, and as others have said, it really depends on what type of episodes and elements he's into.

These are the 3 (or 4) episodes that i would consider masterpieces of the masterpieces, as of right now.

Most would agree that Crusaders of the Lost Mark, Amending Fences, and Cutie Map are some of the show's must-watch episodes, and I don't think you'll miss much if you skip Appleoosa's Most Wanted or Princess Spike

 

But personal opinions aside...just watch the whole season

Watch the whole season, but Castle Sweet Castle, Amending Fences, Make New Friends But Keep Discord, and Party Pooped, Tanks For The Memories, and Princess Spike, The Cutie Map, and Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep would be the ones I recommend the most.
