I don't think the series is ending. The reason for the CMC getting their marks is because it was the anniversary. It's not every year that the anniversary falls on the day the show normally gets aired! The episode did imply taking a new direction. They got more in store for us. If the series was coming to a close they would have already announced it! Don't you worry!

Then what are we going to do, once all mane 6 character achieved their Destiny, which is also more likely to happen?

 

If they focus on the background ponies, they are going to just milk the series for all it's worth.

The series is gonna continue until the fandom loses interest, which won't be for a while. And once FiM ends, they will probably make a new show.

As long as we love this show and we keep giving them the money- I mean support the show will keep going! It's not everyday that a fandom like this appears.

There is a possibility that the series may end soon for reasons hypnosparkle has said and other reasons I've already provided in another thread. 

But...then again....I won't try to count out the possibility things will continue even longer. Who knows what Hasbros might have up their sleeve. And though I don't EVER want FiM to end, I don't think it'll do the franchise good to OVERSTRETCH a tv show because they never end well.

 

Also, I don't think the Fandom will be the reason why FiM will continue. There has been too many shows ending DESPITE the demands of a fandom. Fandoms will always outlive the franchises anyway.

Well, I don't think the creators of the show are ready to end it yet. Yes, the series will end some day, but I don't think it's now. There are many things that are yet to be done! Maybe a new school bully will be introduced, maybe the Mane 6 will have new goals, maybe the show will start focusing more on that weird map thing sending them places when their butt marks glow!

Well, Hasbro basically makes so much money off of the show and their new MLP toys. Face it, they aren't ready to stop yet. There was a spongebob movie a few years ago and that series kept going. With some recent episodes, Hasbro has shown us just how unpredictable they can be. Plus people interviewed the producers and they did say that they got more for us. It was after the 100th episode when they said that there is a lot more in store.

This obsession with the show's end is starting to get on my nerves. There's good reason to think it may possibly end soon, there's good reason to think it will continue for a while. We'll just have to see.

 

 Also, I'm sick of people talking about things being "Milked". Something going on for a long time or getting a lot of seasons/sequels/etc. isn't automatically a bad thing. Money might be a motivator but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If the show remains in good quality and the people working on it still enjoy making it and have good ideas, would a 7th or 8th season be a bad thing?

First off, we will never be able to wrap up all loose ends.

 

Secondly, why another school bully? That would be rehashing the same story and what new goals would the mane six get? They realized their dream and once you do, you will live happily ever after. And i think once they realized their dreams, the magic of friendship will spread throughout Equestria, so the map won't be needed anymore.

I think people are free to express their opinions and reasons as to why the show should end/continue. 

 

If these topics are beginning to overwhelm you, then simply let them be and search for other topics or go as far to create a new one that doesn't revolve around it. There is nothing wrong with some people thinking a show being milked is a bad thing just like how there is nothing wrong with you believing it's NOT  bad thing. 

 

We will see in the years to come on what happens because despite all the discussions around it, Hasbros will make the decision. Nothing wrong with making predictions until then.

I've only responded to one or two of them. Seeing the title's is unavoidable. I'm not going to try and stop them, I just find them personally irritating. I never said "Milking" wasn't a bad thing. Milking implies something negative about it continuing, as if there's less effort, or less quality put into it, that it's just being done to dig all the cash out of us with no thought put in. I'm saying a show going on a long time doesn't mean it's necessarily milked. If MLP got to season 10 and still had effort and thought put into it, and was still a good show, and all the staff still liked working on it...Is it being milked?

I would say so, yes. 

 

Take Family Guy for example and The Simpsons. Or some kid shows like Spongebob or Pokemon.

 

No matter what, the longer a show runs, the less quality in the storylines it has. At least, that's how I see it. Fandoms will go on forever and the franchises will continue for the purpose of gaining a profit, which isn't a bad thing (it's quite common). But sooner or later, the quality will run out and you'll be stuck trying to drag something along that would have done better if it ended on a good note.

 

Now if Hasbros can pull it off? Hey....I say go for it. I'd be genuinely impressed if they could avoid that common dilemma if they push the series way longer than we anticipate . People are just expressing reasons on why they believe it'll end soon while others are saying why they SHOULD end soon. It all depends...we won't know until it happens one way or another

Again, if that is about that announcement of the brand, it dosen't have to be about the show.

 

It was said at the beginning of 2014, which is already almost 2 years ago and the brand dosen't automatically mean the show.

 

For all we know, they show the movie in 2017 and for the last 2 years, they just show reruns, to promote the toys like that.

I have to disagree here, I don't think something going on for a long time automatically makes it milked. If a writer really enjoys writing one single series and keeps wanting to continue it, why is that a bad thing?

Doctor Who. Over 50 years. Great show, had a few bumps and a few breaks but still here and still going good. The current season is 4 episodes in and I'm liking it so far. Now, of course MLP isn't Doctor Who. Doctor Who has essentially the perfect formula to go on forever, something most shows don't have. I don't think FIM could ever go over 50 years, unless the ponies start regenerating, which isn't going to happen.

 

 I personally want the show to go on longer. Long-running shows can stay good, age alone doesn't automatically make something lose quality.

All we can do is wait and see. We can't really jump to conclusions. Neither of us can predict the future. Maybe Hadbro has a plan. All we can do I wait and just be bronies. We'll find our answer eventually.

Fair enough to say. I am not a fan of Doctor Who, so I couldn't really have an opinion on that. But that doesn't defeat the possibility that OTHERS who watched, or used to watch the show would agree it's been overstretched for too long and should reach an ending. 

 

To be honest, I don't think we'll come to any agreements when it comes to this topic because it all depends on the individual in what they've experienced, how they see things, and what they like/dislike. And that's me making a general statement. There's no right or wrong answer when it comes to the unanswered questions "Is quality lost the longer the show runs" and no one'es reasons for why the show should/should not end soon stands above anyone else's.

I'm in neutral ground here. As I've said neither Hasbro or DHX have said anything about the show's end so we have no solid way of knowing off the show will end sooner or later. Either way it's a win-win. If the show continues after the movie, more pony! If the show ends, still more pony! Only it will be something new. A new world with new characters and newer incarnations of familiar characters.

We still don't know everything about the Everfree Forest.

We still don't understand how Equestria was created.

We still haven't seen all of the mane 6's families.

We still aren't aware of why the ponies are primitive.

Sunset Shimmer and Celestia haven't had a reunion yet.

Applejack still hasn't gained the money she's wanted since episode 3.

There still hasn't been an episode where the moral is "If it's not broken, don't fix it"

Celestia hasn't had her own episode.

There still isn't a filly or colt unicorn that looks up to Twilight as an inspiration.

We don't know Mayor Mare's real name.

Shining and Cadence still aren't parents.

Tank isn't done hibernating.

Twilight hasn't mastered levitation (Unlike Pumpkin Cake)

Rarity's parents haven't returned.

Rarity and Spike are not together yet.

As far as I know, they still haven't gone to another country outside of Equestria.

That's all I can think of.
