Theory Is Equestria a bigoted society?

Even if there was an unicorn that could create potions to make things grow fast or could control the weather, I doubt that unicorn would have anywhere near the amount of control and quality that any earth pony or pegasus would have. 

Oh noooooo. I'm confident Unicorns wouldn't do better or even as great of a job of what earth ponies and pegasi are best known for. I'm just saying that they are most likely the race to handle on their own if they were without the others

Oh yeah, possibly. Although if the weather would just control itself without pegasi (like in the Everfree Forest), Luna and Celestia would still be around to raise the sun and moon, and everypony can brew potions, I don't think they would have too much of an edge over the rest.

The only edge they would have is being able to control weather which is something the earth ponies wouldn't be able to do even if they could brew up potions. And then being able to raise the sun and moon which is something the pegasi might not pull off. I'm sure Celestia and Luna will be around, but I was referring to a world without them. Which seemed to have been executed in the Hearth's Warming Eve episode.

No matter how capitalistic or communist a country is people will still be people. Cartoon characters just tend to exaggerate traits like being snobby or evil when in reality nobody is to that extent but the exaggeration gives you that feeling instantly.

ICR which episode it was but in 1 episode AJ  & Apple Bloom pen a bunch of sheep against their will &1 of the sheep says "you could have just asked" + Apple Buck Season, AJ herds the cows (although to be fair they were going to stampede through town). This implies they are 2nd class citizens if not slaves +the way Zecora is treated just for being different.

 

Reading between the lines in Hearth's Warming Eve, the Earth Ponies were definitely subservient to both the other races, serfs or perhaps slaves (Although, to be fair that was clearly a LONG time ago).  Still, all the Canterlot nobles I can recall were Unicorns.

 

Perhaps it is more de facto discrimination & not de jure (like the way the USA was in the 1950s) but I would say there is some discrimination against nonponies

You do realize that stuff like that is a joke and is not meant to be taken seriously or have to any implications/meaning, right? There's certainly not a chance in hell of slavery being legal or accepted in a benevolent society like Equestria. And nobody is a second class citizen, end of story. The stuff with the cows and such is just a joke, and it being such a minor detail on top of that, it wouldn't be right at all to make up some nonsense overly grimdark and ridiculous theories based on something like that.

 

And like myself and a couple of others had said, the only reasons the ponies were afraid of Zecora is that she was mysterious and her intentions were unclear. They thought she was an "evil enchantress" at first. Once they realized she wasn't some witch plotting something evil, but rather a friend, they've been treating her just fine. 

 

As for Heart's Warming Eve, you have to keep in mind that the play portrayed events BEFORE the founding of Equestria, so bringing it into a discussion about Equestria seems pretty moot. It's true that tensions were high during that time, but one of the big reasons for the founding of Equestria was to end the tensions between the three tribes and let them live together in peace and harmony.

It's not bigoted but it has class divisions that are pretty clear cut. After all, the kingdom is overall ruled by Alicorns, though to be fair it seems like any of the ponies can be turned into one.

On the contrary---Alicorns are fusions of all 3 Pony types, giving them the perfect middle ground.

That's like saying a mixed race person in real life is the perfect person to rule over everyone. Alicorns are still a fourth race. There is no perfect middle ground, as shown when Luna, an Alicorn, flipped her lid and turned into the tyrant Nightmare Moon.

Maybe it is meant as just a joke, like the running gag about a donkey showing up whenever a pony compares someone to a donkey.  I say it is an indication that pony society isn't as benevolent as it looks at 1st.

 

Still, it's just a kid's cartoon.  It's like arguing if Speedy Gonzalez is meant to be racist (I don't think so, some folks disagree)
