Do you like Ponies/MLP for...ODD... reasons?

It's little bits of here and there odd reasons.

  1. Use of flash animation (or whatever they're using) to it's full power. Unlike Johnny Test. I don't hate the cartoon, it has it's audience, I just can't look at the animation. It makes my brain hurt.
  2. I love good cartoons or fascinating/bad ones. For example the good Nick Toons like Angry Beavers, or train wrecks like 12oz Mouse. I mean, 12oz was just so bad I couldn't look away.
  3. Lauren Faust was my selling point. I liked Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends very much so this was a must watch for me.
  4. I used to watch Rainbow Bright when I was a kid, so I'm no stranger to watching a cartoon that others call "a cartoon for girls". I watched the show (from what I can remember) for the colors. My Aspergers was pretty bad back when, it's more tame now. It was a 9/10 and now it's a 2/10. The use of color in FIM is just so perfect. How they're so slightly desaturated is ideal for such a believable world.
  5. Love the music!

Well there are 2 things that you could call odd that contributed to my curiosity into watching MLP. The first one was Derpygate. The idea of a My Little Pony show that not only was able to get a male following, but also piss some people off was something that caused me to pay more attention to it. The other thing was that I liked the MLP fursuits/ponysuits. I thought is was cool that people were making those, considering the amount of effort it takes to make them and to portray the character too, and they weren't getting paid for it (except for those that take commissions).

Personally, initially I liked the show for a little titbits of hypocrisy. I mean, Rarity - "the element of Generosity" give me a break. Or Applejack never really had qualms about lying. But funniest things that dragged me into the show were plotholes in first two episodes. Sadly, episodes improved and I started genuinely liking the show.

If this counts

It's the only creative thing to come out of America for a while. I know much of the show has Canadian roots, but it still counts, lol.

American television seemed to have lost a lot of substance in recent years. Being dominated by reality shows and brainless cartoons, and uncreative movies. It seemed that we have given up on trying to be creative anymore and just appeal to the lowest common denominator.

I watch a lot of anime, and tokusatsu. Mostly because they tend to be creative, colorful and have a lot of story and character development. It seemed that anything with any substance for me came from Japan.

But then I found out about MLP and the Brony fandom and it was like a breath of fresh air.

Now I will note: That American animation seems to be embracing being more creative recently, with new shows like Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. But MLP was one of the first, lol.

I really like the animation, stories, songs, setting, and characters, but I think the main reason I like MLP is because of how uplifting it is for me. I can watch shows like Star Trek or Doctor Who as an escape, but I find that MLP has a continuing uplifting effect on me. Just watching an episode or two can be a lot of help in getting me back to work on my day's normal activities.

I got into MLP because I hated it at first, and me being ten and having logic like pinkie pie i decided to watch it to see how much more I could possibly hate it, of course now I've come to love and cherish every moment I had watching it. In fact i completely forgot why I hated it so much. Could of just been my pride that got in the way.

The characters seem "real" to me. I imagine them as living in another dimension with different physical laws, but as actual living beings. The last cartoon I felt this way about was Kim Possible.

This is exactly what I feel, every word, minus the Kim possible thing, i often theorize that because of the nature of their physics, it is possible for them to enter this dimension through a Magic spell, Unfortunately because of our worlds physics it is much harder to cross dimensions and there is no guarantee that you would show up in their world. Let alone get there in one piece.

Kimberly Ann Possible is real. I just know it! Frankly, I even hope Doctor Drakken is real. That would mean Shego was too!

Um, back on topic. I do agree with you. Magic users would have an easier time crossing realms. We'd have to use questionable technology to do what they can do just by will and thought.

Exactly although based on multiverse theory every idea ever created has an infinite amount of parallel universes based on the Base cannon of a certain idea, so unfortunately, Based on physics, Smile HD has happened an infinite amount of times.
