Starflower 323 March 9, 2013 Share March 9, 2013 As a female MLP fan myself, I really don't prefer either way. Call me a brony, or call me a pegasister...I'm fine with both. I know a few people who prefer "female brony" or Pegasister, so it's just their choice.
SailorCardKnight 85 March 11, 2013 Share March 11, 2013 I like the term "Pegasister" as it sounds more feminine. I find "Brony" to be more masculine and more directed towards the male side of the fanbase. "Filly" sound like the type of name for young little girls that are fans. I find "Brony" tolerable though, I mean some girls refer to each other as "guys" and "dudes" afteral. Want to start a webcomic, looking for an artist, details here! Snowdream 221 March 11, 2013 Share March 11, 2013 I prefer Brony, pegasister sounds to girly and... gen 3... brony just means fan on mlp FiM, so females can go by that to if that is what they prefer. 1 My OC's My DeviantArt

Vanguard 123 March 15, 2013 Share March 15, 2013 I do not see why some female Bronies prefer to be called Pegasisters, we are all the same here and we should all go under the Name of Brony, which is gender neutral (People who say it is not then you are the reason why it isn't, if we all accepted it as it being a gender neutral term then it would be) i dont see the point in splitting the fandom into to categories of male and female. BROnyBROnyBROTHER a male offspring having both parents in common with another offspring; a male sibling. >MALE pegaSISTER pegaSISTER SISTER a female offspring having both parents in common with another offspring; female sibling.>FEMALE 'nuff said. Yes that is how the term Brony originated, but who says we cant change the meaning of a word that was created for the fans of the show? Toastie 110 March 15, 2013 Share March 15, 2013 I personally call the female side Pegasisters. Reason is because I personally would like to be referred to as a Male in real life rather than a Person. Furthermore I find it easier to refer to somebody with their gender, same applies with the fandom
Scootalove 10,689 March 15, 2013 Share March 15, 2013 I basically call a female, a brony if they comfortable being called a brony. If they want to be called a pegasister, that is fine by me. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Coffee Cream 74 March 15, 2013 Share March 15, 2013 I'm gonna have to side with the previous comments about the word brony originating from the words "bro" and "pony" which, seems more catered towards the male population. I like the term filly, pegasister just feels harsh for me to say and to read for that matter.
StormzInvader 127 March 16, 2013 Share March 16, 2013 I know one person who is a girl and calls herself a pegasister. I refer female fans as a brony or pegasister. I guess anything would do for me. I don't know if this applies to most other people though. Can't we make a sure definition of these terms? o.o Thank you, Gone Airbourne, for the amazing signature! Clover Heart 978 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 (edited) I'm female (biologically, anyway) and I refer to myself as brony for a few reasons. First, I don't think there needs to be a division, and I would prefer for a more unified feeling within the community, personally. Because of that, I'd prefer to use one all-encompassing term, rather than to separate people. I'm also very anti-sex-separatist, and calling male and female fans two different things is separatist to me. Second, I'm not a huge fan of the term "pegasister," which seems to be the most widely accepted term exclusively reserved for female fans. The term brony just goes together so well and sounds good. The term pegasister, to me, sounds very contrived. If I were to go with anything else, I'd prefer the term "pegasis." It makes sense, Brony, pegasis, making it more like a set of terms. However, this poses its own problem, in that brony is clearly a different term from pony. Pegasus and pegasis are so similar in pronunciation, they're practically the same word, and if you're using this term verbally, it might be confusing. Besides which, the accepted plural for pegasus is pegasi, but what about pegasis? Do you call them pegasi too? Pegasises? I dunno. Before I started identifying as agender, I'd call myself a Filly, but I have a problem with this for two reasons. One, it kind of makes the person being described by this term sound like a kid, as fillies both in the canon and in real life are adolescent ponies. Two, it has no allusion to the fanbase in the way that all the other terms do. Bronette, I've never heard before I took this poll. Third, this term doesn't seem to be known outside the fanbase. It might be, but not as well-known as the term brony, I imagine. And thus, it causes unnecessary explanation rather than if one had just used the term brony. Granted, I realize that there are people who don't know what a brony is either, but I think outside of the fanbase, brony is a term which is somewhat recognized, whereas pegasister or other titles hardly would be, if at all. Fourth, I just feel more comfortable with it. If you wanna be called a pegasister or whatever, I don't mind calling you that. But I think I'd feel really uncomfortable being called a pegasister. This is the weirdness that comes with being agender. I don't think of myself as male or female. However, being labeled female and feminine things can often be stigmatized and misperceived in various ways. Like I said, I don't identify as male, but since male tends to be the default position in our society and masculine things tend to have fewer stigma attached to them, I tend to label myself in a more masculine way in order to avoid that. Besides which, I'm really, really not a girly kind of person. Therefore, I call myself brony. Edited March 17, 2013 by Clover Heart 1 You're the most basic of jokes. BronyKing 2 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 The few times I've seen girls in the fandom they usually don't think they are into the show enough to get a title I would agree with this, however I have several friends who are very active members of the fandom and really don't cared what they are called in the fandom. Veronica The Miffvixen 232 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Pegasister. I don't like brony being applied to me. It just feels weird. Bronette sounds even more idiotic, along the lines of some flash-in-the-pan pop idol's backup singers. Filly? Really? I'm sorry, but that makes no sense at my age. #yiff Young, Incredible, Free, and Fly. That's how Veronica rolls. On 4/1/2013 at 7:43 PM, Feld0 said: It's a wolf. Wolfy Sparkle! ~Scootaloo 440 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 The term 'Brony' is gender neutral. And refers to fans of FiM. [/Thread] ^This sums it up pretty damn well. Leave it to our fandom to get into an argument on what to call its female side of the fan base. The singular form: brony Is gender neutral & The plural form: bronies Is also GENDER NEUTRAL!!! Now stop wasting the server(s) resources that deliver the code of this site to you with all of this unneeded arguments. simba86 1,541 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 I will say that i have never met a female fan that likes to be called pegasister NEVER! they always scream "I PREFER BRONY!" so i call them brony even though pegasister sounds cool It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees! Stratos 109 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 Alright so "pegasister" sounds pretty badass AND pegasi are the best kind of ponies. I would prefer it if I were a woman but I don't have pegasister parts! Most bronies like to be called bronies regardless of gender so I guess that informs my decision. Turbo the Pegasus 0 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 Brony should refer to either gender, and, in my mind, is more official than Pegasister. I suppose if somepony wanted to be called a Pegasister instead of a brony then that's their opinion, but brony works well, too. I would rather be called a Female Brony. Even if it is a combination of "Bro" and "Pony," "bro," in slang form, can mean a person in a group. Such as a group of friends might call eachother "bros" even if there are female members. They aren't genetically related, but they still refer to eachother as bros.
~Chaotic Fireball~ 499 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 I call myself a brony, and every other female fan I know a brony. On the rare occasion I will say 'pegasister' or, if it is a group of females, I'll say 'pegasisters'. To me, it kind of depends on the group, or the person themself, like in Spanish, a girl is called 'chica', a boy 'chico', a group of girls is 'chicas', a group of boys is 'chicos', but a mixed group is also 'chicos'. Even if there is one boy in a group of a hundred girls, it is still 'chicos'. I guess you can put it that way, but either way, I still call every girl fan I know a 'brony'. I prefer to be called one anyways, it sounds more official, rather than a 'pony fan' or a MLp addict'. You get what I'm saying? Batbrony 16,055 March 29, 2013 Share March 29, 2013 (edited) I kinda go back and forth, but personally, I do like to refer to female bronies as pegasisters. Now, if a pegasister specifies that she'd like to be called a brony instead, fine by me, because it's not that big of a deal to me either way. Otherwise, I'll just refer to most as pegasisters most of the time, mostly because I think the term is actually kinda cute, and really, I don't know why anypony wouldn't want to be called one. Zygen 6,066 March 29, 2013 Share March 29, 2013 I try and just call them whatever they prefer, before knowing they are a girl I refer to them as bronies normally. And I normally try to stick to their preference from then on. I use to call people Pegasisters alot, but the term seems to not be highly preferred among most female fans. So I've started calling alot of them bronies. Alot of times i don't even refer to people as bronies really. Most of the time if I do I just refer to the group of bronies, otherwise I hardly use the word really. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! LightsCameraAction 100 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 I feel that I have heard the definition of Brony is: A male member of the MLP fandom. So I have to go with Pegasister. Blue Moon 6,341 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 By default, I call any female member of the herd a pegasister. But since the term "brony" is gender-neutral, I will call the female member a brony if they want to be called that. piccana 18 March 30, 2013 Share March 30, 2013 I think brony is pretty clever but i don't think it's gender neutral. Pegasister doesn't have as nice ring to it as brony so i voted for filly, however i think there isn't really any good word for female bronies yet..still waiting for one
Sweet Dreams 1,893 April 19, 2013 Share April 19, 2013 I'm a pegasister, but I don't mind being called a brony at all. Actually, I prefer being called a brony. I think it sounds way cooler. I have nothing against people who want to be called pegasisters, though. I usually say 'pegasister' first when addressing other female fans just to be safe. /)
