general Liberal or Conservative?

SteelSpark

Recommended Posts

I'm more conservative than I am liberal, but I do have quite a few liberal views. If you ask me, I don't really care for separate parties. If you ask me, no one aligns perfectly with any one party on everything, so why should we be tied to a group that has different opinions. Besides, there is a bit of truth to mostly anything, so no side is necessarily right or wrong with everything.

independant. I take a look at each polititians views and ideas rather then there party. Though i am left leaning. I agree with most liberal views with the exception of social justice and related concepts, which annoy me to no end.

From my experience, the average conservative:

1. Is against gay marriage

2. Doesn't believe in global warming

Now, even if you are conservative, and don't agree with those two statements, you'd be hard-pressed to deny they apply to your average conservative. So yes, that is exactly what I'm implying, sorry to say.

You're stating that you believe propaganda that calls conservatives anti-gay and anti-global warming and anti-good, therefore pro-bad. Congrats, pawn.

I am neither liberal nor conservative. I am beyond those. I have my own opinions, ideas, ideals, and beliefs. I refuse to play the left VS right game. I plan on getting shit done in this world, not fighting a pointless eternal war that will never have a winner.

I wouldn't consider me wholly conservative but I'm definitely right wing. It's a cultural thing. Where I'm from socialism and its derivative policies are somewhat of a pipe dream, at least the way i see it.

Independent from Independent. Man it feels lonely when you're not on the spectrum, you're in another dimension

It can feel that way at times, but actually independent is the fastest growing political affiliation in America though they are far from a monolithic voting bloc. There are a significant portion of them that support Bernie Sandes and a significant portion of them that support Donald Trump for example though there is also a significant portion of them that don't like either of them.

Neither. Political alignment often clouds judgement. I weight out the issues and make a choice based upon the information in front of me, not what my current party is saying is a good idea at the time.

Your entire post reeks of someone who's ego is so large it could have it's own area code.

Each side- left or right, has it's goals and prerogatives, which, unfortunately, often place them in direct opposition. That's just the truth. It's not the truth I'd prefer, but it is.

No, I should really be the one congratulating you. You're very good at making assumptions. I don't remember stating any such thing; you can say "islam extremism is bad" without meaning "islam is bad".

This isn't about a personal grudge, or left vs.right, it's about advancing the goals of whichever side is more likely to accomplish them fastest. In this case, not the conservatives. But I do apologize in advance, because after all,

I am beyond those.

I'm a conservative, but I am pro-immigration. I just believe we need an easier immigration system so that the people who are here illegaly can begin to pay taxes and help the state of the nation.

Well the problem with independent and anything stemming from that is the lack of organisation. It's the reason why HIspanic, although not a race, is referred to like one. It gives power to a group that is otherwise ethnically divided thin enough to lose its societal power.

I'm middle ground but consider myself more conservative then anything else. I abhor socialism and large government. Though to break the conservative stereotype i'm not a Christian and i'm pro-LGBT.

I'm pretty liberal, I think of myself as a Democratic Socialist. I cannot, for the life of me, see the positives of right wing ideologies. I think they are among the most harmful ideologies on the planet.

My political compass results put me at (-7.88, -6.77)

I know your post is old, but that's a pretty cool site. Here's mine:  https://www.politicalcompass.org/yourpoliticalcompass?ec=-5.88&soc=-3.85

A little less extreme than yours, but according to the site, I'm right on top of Gandhi. I'm quite alright with that.

I'm a conservative.

Some viewpoints from liberals can make sense, but sometimes they don't always work.

Certainly conservative. Didn't vote for Trump though, because I'm more of a Libertarian... and kind of a Tea Party Republican, as well. Can't stand the constant perception that it makes me a bigot, though. I have no problem with ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and religious diversity. My motto isn't really Don't Tread On Me. It's more like Don't Tread On Anyone.

I am liberal. Not crazy left wing, mind you, but certainly left of center. It's not universal (I support responsible gun ownership and the death penalty) but the majority of my stances align to the left.

This question isn't very relevant nowadays because the thin line between conservatism and progressism has become even diffuser. Sometimes conservatives tend to approve things progressives would normally approve and viceversa. At least in America the Republican party simply tends to support things the Democrats supported years ago pr decades ago. Someday Republicans will talk about gay marriage like a "sacred American value". Also progressives sometimes support overtaxations of certain vital aspects in a way that ironically looks very conservatives. This binomial isn't even a thing anymore. In a context of catch-all parties and Democracy too dependant to the caprices of the Media politicians simply defend what is better for themselves in a rather cynical Machiavellian way. Sometimes there are even people who cannot be labeled at all in one way or another like the modern Russian Nazbols.

I guess I tend to be conservative in certain things and progressive in other areas. That would be a more accurate answer.
