We've got two confirmed movies in the pipeline and probably a 6th season to look forward to. A couple youtubers quitting is like a drop in the bucket. Someone else will be along to take their place.

If I quit the fandom does that mean the fandom is the dead?

Well the answer would be yes.

 

To those people that left it, the fandom is dead to them. 

To us who are in the fandom, it is alive.

Never had much interest in Major League Baseball, but to each their own.

 

MLP Fandom is still expanding. It's just changing, as all real fandoms do. Several of the big 'voices' of the fandoms will drop out because of many different reasons, each depending on why they became a big voice in the fandom in the first place. There will always be more to replace them, but they will likely go in different directions. The 'angry analyst' type like what Oliver turned into are usually the first to burn out, as it takes a lot of effort to maintain that vitriol.

 

We're getting people like Silver Quill now, with comedic reviews instead. Dr. Wolf, with his 'analyze the analysts' shtick is fascinating, and he's branching out into other aspects of the fandom. ILoveKimPossibleALot with... entertainment? I'm not entirely sure what category to put her in, to tell the truth.

 

So even the YouTube side of the MLP fandom is still alive and kicking. It's just moving into different directions.

It's just slowed down in growth... dramatically.

Not only that, people are begining to move on to different things.

And I'm afraid to say that when someone moves on to something else, that they almost never will come back.

How do I know this?

I for example stopped watching the show almost a year ago.

And about 8 months ago I just decided to drop the whole pony thing all together.

Never watched the show ever sense then.

I think this is what's happening to people in the MLP fanbase.

They move on to something else and never come back.

So it's not dead.

It's just dying very slowly.

And unfortunately I could see the fandom shrinking down more rapidly when the series comes to an end.

I think all bronies who aren't tough should stay away from YouTube honestly. Only tough people who can handle being told nasty stuff frequently should be on YouTube. If you are a wuss like I am, stay away from YouTube.

It's you're opinion. This is not fact. You cant really say it's the worst season without seeing the WHOLE season.

 

It's like seeing 1 second of a trailer and saying the trailer sucks. Or the game/show/movie sucks. Without actually bothering to lift a hoof to see it!

Yeah, I can remember my first encounter with a "Is the MLP fandom dead?" line. I was a bit sad to read something like this but when I have found the 142. same discussion, I felt more like laughing about it. I can't say anything, I have just joined a few months ago but cuz an analyst left the fandom or more, it doesn't mean the end of it. Still I can understand how you feel. Personally, I would be sad if, for example, Silver Quill or Dr. Wolf leave the fandom but it woldn't mean the end of it either.

The MLP fandom will never 'die'. The 'Brony' fandom hasn't died, either. Otherwise this forum, that has a bunch of members that identify as Bronies, would no longer exist. Whether or not I believe that the 'Brony' fandom is just a fad that will fade away someday, it has yet to do so. lol
