Possibly only this 6 with the movie upcoming, though they could potentially fit in a 7th before then.

 

 If the Movie does well, I could easily see at least a few more seasons after it too. There's no real way to know for sure, but I imagine at least 7-8 seasons. It could be 6, but that seems just a bit too short for my tastes. Though, for all we know we could get 15-20 seasons.

Six to seven if the movie's an indication. FiM has pretty much done all it had set out to do in terms of character arcs and morals, so it would be best if they moved on to a new series set in the same world if they can get more in before G4 ends.

 

There are rumors that Guardians of Harmony may be a new series, but nothing's official yet.

I am really hoping that season 6 is the last, and the series ends with a bang with the 2017 movie.

With how all of the mane character's story arches have pretty much been accomplished, I don't really see the need for the show to continue past that.

I'm airing on the side of 6-7. Assuming that the movie will be the grand finale and there aren't many breaks between episodes this season, that would still leave a 8-9 month gap between the end of S6 and the movie, even accounting for the fourth EQG's movie. I wouldn't mind another thirteen episode season like S3 to bridge the gap between the two.

I'm hoping for 10 total, when they finished up 5 they said they had the next 5 years planned out, so hopefully we'll get 10. There's still new stuff they could introduce and explore, they just need to channel their muse for some inspiration. In any case, as long as they still make some money from merchandise sales, that'll give them motivation to keep it going. To any trolls and SA goons in this thread, buzz off, I was anti-cynicism in 1999, and I still am now. Your movement is played-out and accomplished nothing.

Its still very popular, in fact I suspect the number of fans is only slightly lower than it was when mlp was everywhere, I just suspect the vocal minority have quietened down

I don't know why everyone is wishing that Season 6 is the last season. Hasbro and DHX have shown time and time again that they can still write compelling stories with our favorite Equines! If you think the show is going downhill or that we are entering a seasonal rot, no one is forcing you to watch. 

 

I see MLP going on until Season 8 and maybe Season 9. FIM has already exceeded everyones expectations and I really hope that we can one day cross the 200 episode mark  .

Given that the film isn't due for release until later next year it would seem bad planning for them not to get another series in before it.  I'd imagine they would want to keep the interest high for its release.

 

So I'll go for at least seven, whether or not we get any more remains to be seen.

I think it depends entirely on whether they make profit of it or not. So if they make profit they'll make more if they see it declining well it likely will stop. Therefore I'd assume they'd make as many as possible as long as there's a demand for it. Which is why there's no telling what will happen really.

Who can say? We're not psycic. We don't know what Hasbro has planned for the future. Frankly, I think we should just be satisfied that FiM has had as many seasons as it does now. Hasbro will cut it off when they decide pony doesn't sell anymore, and from the looks of it, that train is only speeding up. So again- who can say?

Let's just live in the monent, enjoying we have, rather than fretting over the longevity of an already rapidly aging, and longest running Mlp series.

I think we'll get seven leading up to the movie, then after the movie will probably get more a few more.

 

I honesty didn't want Fim continue "that" long, because the quality may drop. I rather have it end on a great note than to see it suffer.

The movie makes no sense for a series end. Also we just introduced Starlight Glimmer and potentially just started giving Spike something to do.

I think MLP will go to Netflix after this season in 13 episode blocks. So technically 26 episodes left after S6, released once a year, 13 episodes at a time.

 

S7= Spring 2017 on Netflix in 13 episodes

S8= Spring 2018, same deal

 

Either this will end it, or a 2nd movie could be in the works.
