How did Luna Survive on the Moon?

Seems simple enough to figure. The stars were able to aid in her escape. Therefore the stars probably also kept her supplied with takeout food, fresh dvds and toilet paper. No biggie.

She was basically encased in ice, in a way. As others have stated, her essence was probably sealed there, dormant and inactive. So she technically wasn't even living so there was no need to 'survive'.

Watch the first episode again. In the beginning narration, and when Twilight is reading about The Mare in the Moon, both times it's stated that Nightmare Moon was imprisoned IN the moon. Not ON the moon. She was never on the surface itself. So the question of how she survived is moot.
