But Derpibooru has hundreds of thousands of art and animation that many hyper talented people have made, for THIS fandom. Is it "wrong" to mention the site in conversation? Honestly, the worst thing about it (assuming you're alright with porn) is the toxic community. I know at least one artist who refuses to upload their images there simply because the community will tear it apart for no reason. If your wanting to get pictures without seeing any of the more adult stuff, it isn't a bad site. The latter site boasts a far better, more artist-friendly community. Huh. Odd that pony-related art and written works should be more well-received or less often disparaged at dA than they are at either Derpibooru or FIMFiction (two sites seemingly intended specifically for Bronies and Brony-made content). Derpibooru itself (there's loads of lovely art of all types uploaded there that are allowed to be url embedded and shared in our own fanclubs, etc.) doesn't have taboo connotations in this community. Unauthorized exploitation of artworks and NSFW content does. (safe, cute, and totally community friendly gif I found on their well filtered homepage !) That being said, there's also a lot of jackasses on Derpi and a lot of hostility in general. A lot of people on Derpi were originally on 4chan and jumped ship when 4chan (briefly) banned all MLP-related content, so the culture on Derpi is essentially diet /mlp/. Make of that what you will. But what i can't stand, is the hostile and toxic crowd there, that really suck the joy out of it being there. Though I make use of it, my interaction with Derpibooru community, however, is non-existent but I have heard bad things about it with posts above as examples. In fact most of the art I share from MLP on here is taken directly from the site - all SFW of course. I would suspect this is the case for a lot of people that don't rely of Google image search. Since I tend to browse in the living room, I use the appropriate filter on the site when searching. Since it has specific paraphilia I personally don't want to see, I keep the filter on even if I am in my home office. As far as I know there is no taboo on the site itself. What I am about to say is only specific for MLPF circa August 2014 to May 2016 ... those who were responsible for the day to day running of MLP Forums, up to Administration, have had nothing but respect for Equestria Daily and Derp. More to that, the MLPF staff to my knowledge have never fielded anything negative from those sites either. Shit, I personally have nothing but the highest amount of respect for both sites and the staff that run them. Moon Sugar 532 July 23, 2016 Share July 23, 2016 The only pet peeve I have with Derpi is that people steal art to post *all the time* one of my favorite artists has a huge problem with this--For example she posted her MLP themed icon she animated and drew by scratch, and within minutes was uploaded to Derpi and they don't allow double uploading/linking to the original.
