I've been playing a lot of Mario Kart lately, and I've been thinking about what are the best games in the series.

So, how would you rank the games, from best to worst?

Double Dash > Everything else. The rest of the series is pretty much pointless.

 

Granted I haven't played the newest one on Wii-U which I've heard is actually pretty good.

Honestly, I only play Time Trial on Mario Kart games, so my experience is kind of limited.

I don't understand how people can say SMK's controls are bad. They just take getting used to. 

I found them easier than Double Dash's controls, at least.

Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 64 (way back in the day lol) were the most enjoyable Mario Karts for me. Super Circuit sits in the middle for me. SMK I never really played much. Mario Kart 7 and Double Dash!! always kind of rubbed me in the wrong way. Double Dash!! had great tracks that I love to see return, but I never really much liked the game itself. Mario Kart 7 I don't even remember what I thought was off about it, but it has been years.

 

EDIT: Oops, forgot about Mario Kart DS! I don't know where I'd rank it, probably above Super Circuit.

I don't know if it's nostalgia blinding me, but I really enjoyed playing double dash. The gamecube had some fantastic games in general.

1). Mario Kart DS: The graphics, characters, unlockables and battle mode all makes this one fantastic, as well as the classic tracks too. And it is portable! The Wifi stuff wasn't great though, but the regular multiplayer was awesome.

2). Mario Kart Double Dash: Once again the tracks and graphics are awesome, but the gameplay is the biggest innovation with the incredible double character mechanic. I really hope this one day makes a return.

3). Mario Kart Super Circuit: Graphics that were amazing, character sprites that looked better than the 64 version and the game ran a hell of a lot faster than MK64, and once again, all on a portable system. Very impressive.

4). Super Mario Kart: The one that started it all.

5). Mario Kart 64: This one is pure nostalgia really. The game is still fun, especially with a friend, but the game has a massive problem with cheating, rubber banding A.I.

6). Mario Kart Wii: My least favorite of the series. The drifting felt useless in this one, the Wifi racing was meh, and the gameplay just didn't feel the same. It felt like the motion controls hidnered the entire experience, even on a standard controller.

 

I have not played 7 or 8. 7 Really doesn't look all that appealing to me.

You need to hit that shoulder button to hop and power slide into those turns!

That's all I really need to rank.  *Shrugs.*  MK8 is the best 3D Mario Kart, and SMK is the best 2D / pseudo-3D Mario Kart. x )

I haven't played all of them, but my favorites would be Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8.
