In a morbid kind of way I really want this to relate to what happened to AJ's parents. I know they won't do it, but it would be a really interesting twist on why she doesn't lie anymore.

I believe that maybe it becomes know the reason of the dead of the parents of Applejack in this episode.

It's about time we got an AJ backstory. Come to think of it, we have very little when it comes to backstories for the Mane Six. The Cutie Mark Chronicles is most of what we have to go off of, with the exception of a few little tidbits here and there in other episodes.

 

There's a problem in giving a backstory to pinkie pie/AJ/Fluttershy, in that their lack of goals and ambitions also limits the amount of "backstory" for their current spot in life as well.

 

Like with RD you can come up with backstories about her training to be a wonderbolt as a kid and why she wants to be one so bad, for rarity you can talk about her studying fashion and her drive to be a fashionista, but with the other 3, they have no real goals that they would have been looking for in life, so not much that they would have worked at prior to the series start.

Backstory is GOLD   I want to see AJ's parents so much, but i m afraid Hasbro wont show them  Everybody in Equestria Daily suggest AJ KILLED HER PARENTS   ... THAT DARK... nah, it wont happen, this is FIM, unless they remove "TV-Y" rating and replace with "TV-PG"  .

So do you think it is confirmed this episode will be set almost entirely before the series becan? It would be wonderfull and hopefully mean we would get more epsiodes set in past (ones for Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Discord would be amount). Hopefully this is set in past far away when Applejack was a filly and not just a week before the series becan. But even a week befor would be interesting. I am just worried that Applebloom will be the focus and most of teh episode is just present day things. Like other people have said she gets far too much attention.

Calling ig now, Applejack made hte story up it not true.  Plus applejack terrible at lying.  Plus wow that really cliche idea but whatever.

We might get the answers that we seek about AJ's parents in this episode according to this little bit of info from the lead character designer:

"I'm sure one day you'll find out, the story of Applejack's parents. But it's a spoiler."
