Concerns about the main character status in the movie

Plot:

In order to stop a threat to the town of Ponyville, the "Mane Six" – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity – must leave Equestria, meeting new friends and overcoming challenges in the process.

The rest of the mane six not being useful and leaving everything up to Twilight is the only concern I can think of.

I'm not talking about his death, that was really well done

 

I'm talking about the original main characters be either irrelevant or killed off in favor of a new cast

 

I mean, if I was a fan of the series when it first came out, I'd be hella disappointed to see my favorite characters either not show up at all(Sideswipe), killed off unceremoniously(Wheeljack), or have a very minor role(Bumblebee), while having no choice other than to watch a bunch of new guys show up and get the spot light(doesn't help that this was entirely done for the sole purpose of promoting the 3rd toy line)

 

Granted, I did end up like some of the new characters like Hot Rod, Kup, Arcee, Springer, Blurr, but didn't make it any less disappointing

True. Granted, Twilight would probably be unconscious rather than dead at the climax of the movie.

As some others have said, I worry more about her overtaking the importance of everyone else. I love Twilight, but her strength comes in a very large part from her friends and I'd like it if all of them got their moments to shine. I'd also like it if some of the side characters would show up in the movie to play their own parts. In any case, Twilight will certainly be a large part of the main story.

I'm sure the Mane Six are going to be relevant in this movie although they will need to give a lot of screentime to the new characters otherwise they would be no reason for them to even be included. Right now, it's all guess work as to what the movie will be about and what each character will end up doing. The writers know what they are doing and we should trust in their judgement.

Characters is listed next to her name, so I'm guessing it was just crediting her for creating the characters. I'm pretty sure we would've heard from somewhere else if she was involved. Seems IMDb needs to credit things better.
