Equestria needs the death penalty. The Season 6 finale is proof.

When you put it that way, that's actually worse. Life imprisonment with all the energy siphoned out of every pony with a capacity to feel love is the worst form of slavery imaginable.

No kidding, and to have the first victims to that kind of torture be the Royal Family and the Elements of Harmony?! They would have every right afterwards to have Chrysalis condemned to Tartarus for life.

Canterlot dungeons seem fair... They should imprison her in the pony territory and try to rehabilitate her.

Didn't this finale prove that the death penalty would be a TERRIBLE idea for equestria, seeing as how every single hero in the finale was a prior villain and the end result was the entire changeling race being reformed too (Sans chrysalis)? :P

The night Chrysalis was defeated.... She had nightmare about mutating into a jolly rancher colored changeling and love friendship and wanted to be friends with Celestia and Twilight.. She woke up screaming. I am pretty sure Chrysalis is already punished enough.  ^_^

Sounds like just as good a punishment as Tartarus when I think about it. Keep her locked up and try to rehabilitate her, then transfer to Tartarus if it doesn't work out.

The sad thing is, going into S5 and S6 I would often make jokes about the finale being about the changelings and chrysalis all suddenly becoming redeemed and turning into saccharine Flutterponies... and then the writers went and DID IT.

Its like everything I think is too horrible for the writers to ever do ends up happening :/ o_o

If they reform Chrysalis, she needs to have a tragic or loveless background. My Queen needs to go out in style if the evil within her is going to die.

She grew up in an orphanage with a pony named Hadiant rope, and every year chrysalis had a Really bad physical breakdown during the Yearly pony festival, and then she learned her entire life was a lie and got seperated from her only friend in the world.

And then everything turns out okay.

Or make Chrysalis like the Joker... Her past is a mystery( well until DC ruined it with post New52)

Death Penalty?

Eh... no.

While I know cleanly reforming your villains is a thing in this series, I've never been a fan of it. The show loses a worthwhile threat by having almost the entire changeling hive turn "good."

It's a good thing that Chrysalis escaped. At least we have that.

For a show about fundamental life lessons, often it's a bit overly optimistic. I believe there's such a thing as healthy cynicism. There's going to be things that you want that are impossible, and sometimes that includes a distinct lack of divine or official justice.

Image says it all. Seriously? This is a show designed for kids, even if it has a devoted older fanbase.

Try telling that to Disney. They make movies for kids, and one way or another, they kill their villains outright. Name one parent who gave the studio flak for killing Scar, Ursula, or Maleficent. You can't do it.

No, because the former villains and the Changelings all wanted to be reformed. Chrysalis refused and practically spat in Starlight's face.

Discord didn't want to be reformed at first either, and neither did starlight: remember starlight screeched at twilight to shut up when she started her friendship speech at first.

death has been shown in the show once, but the death penalty..is a bit to dark for, mind you, ashow for kids. if anything they'd be locked away in tartarus.

Slightly more than once tbh lol

In season 5 episode 7 theres a mailpony being whisked away by a fish monster thing in the background.

Most incestoids are female dominated. But this is also a cartoon so anything goes. And she didn't say she was gonna starve them. She just didn't want to walk in the light.

I think overthrowing Crhrysalis might've been a very bad mistake that will only get realised some time afterwards. As far as we've seen, regular changelings and changeling queens are different, and a changeling queen is needed for the species' reproduction. Currently, The only changeling queen is Chrysalis. If my assumptions are correct... Then Thorax and the other changelings might've locked themselves in a path to extinction unless they can convince Chrysalis to return to the hive.

Heck, this might be the sole reason Chrysalis might stop and be reformed!

Maybe they can shapeshift to reproduce? On second thought, why is reproduction being considered in a kids show lol. There could always be a new changeling queen too, to be technically the old and defunct queens get tossed out by the males usually in insect colonies so they can get replaced.

But I don't think she is the type to get reformed easily, she loves extra love and is greedy and jealous and petty when it comes to love, so that'd need to be addressed or it'd just enable her tyranny again.

I think the sandwich probably is like that but if I had to find canon reasons I would think its because noble-ponies are elitist, which is technically the same as racism (considering common people as lesser in some way, all 'isms') so I could see it being a delicacy like caviar or something, and might be used to imply the nobles are too stuck up. Hm imagine an episode where they fix the nobles' friendship problems larger scale. Probably admitting nobles think that way though would not be very child friendly, but it could also serve as a topic involving isms to educate the younger audience. Also horses technically are opportunistic carnivores, they can eat meat, sorta like this deer over here

or this one

She does these things to feed herself and her hive which are (presumably) her children. On top of that, when she could have easily killed the ponies she had captured and replaced, she repeatedly does not (the alternate future storyline not-withstanding).

And, by the end of the season finale, she has had her kingdom and children transformed and turned against her.

I think she has every right to be angry right now but next we meet her she will probably be sad and depressed and possibly suicidal, with only her pride and anger at perceived injustices keeping her going.

She does not deserve to die or be banished. She already has been.

Male ants and bees are just stored away for reproduction. Don't need to be an ass about it. Made fun of me for making up  a word? Get over it and grow up.

Now that I think about it, she had shown in A Canterlot Wedding that she had simply imprisoned Cadance in the caves beneath Canterlot, and put Celestia into a cocoon after beating her. Then in To Where and Back Again, she simply put the Royal Family and Elements of Harmony into cocoons after kidnapping and replacing them with drones, yet she did not seem to show any intent of killing them and being done with them for good. Keeping them in the cocoons might have been her way of being merciful to them in that she was letting them live, but pretty much as her trophies until she saw fit to either let them go, or keep them safely preserved in the cocoons for eternity.

You actually typed "incestoids" instead of "insectoids". I guess it is true though, they're all one big family. :P

Hmm... Well I guess all that coffee lately has been impairing my conscious typing. I deserve that one then. Most of the important insect and arachnoid species are matriarchal since females handle both the reproductive and predator duties.

Wasn't making fun of you just laughing at what I thought was a typo. Oh it was addressed. But its understandable, considering a different factor.
