One of my favorite animes is probably Death Note.  I even made a fan-made trailer.  Here, you can check it out.  Please don't dislike this video, I worked very hard on it, but all comments are welcome.

Serial Experiments: Lain will probably always be my number one. I'm glad to see some other people here that enjoy it! I finally caved and bought the super expensive blu-ray boxset just the other day and man, does it look sexy!

Ghost in the Shell, not an anime series but a movie. It really helped inspire the Wachowsi brothers when they were writing The Matrix trilogy. Which reminds me, The Animatrix is also bad-ass.

Lastly, Gunslinger Girl. Also bought the sweet ass boxset that contains the whole series and the OVAs. Love this show.

Eh? Nandatte?

3) Pokemon (first generation)

I watched these when I was too young to think that ash was an idiot. His incompetance was easily explained too as he was relatively new to the world of pokemon. The episodes were all entertaining, even the filler episodes like the ghost of maiden's peak, coincidentally one of my favourite episodes.

2) Digimon (seasons 1-3)

NO! Digimon is NOT a copy of pokemon! It's more of a rip off of the tamagotchi than anything else!

I actually first saw digimon by mistake when I was looking for pokemon. It was a great series, plenty of drama, action and an actual plot device. Each of the characters from the first two seasons are interesting and exhibit bahaviors in a similar fashion of the mane 6's elements of harmony in the form of their crests.

I didn't really like the fourth season as the filler started to become horribly noticable. The third season did pretty well at keeping things fresh and interesting, but I just didn't like it. I can't speak for data squad or fusion, but I heard good things about them.

1) MEDABOTS!

Such a great series. Yes there's filler, yes it's cliche, yes there are some odd animation moments, but I can't help but love it. It was a staple of my childhood and I loved the humour. Maybe it's partially responsible for my love for bad puns...

So I think I want to update my choices to pretty much any Anime, as long as they're dubbed and have around 100+ episodes. Ongoing would be a plus. Also, I think I've found out that I like Shonen Anime... that's like teenage characters?

So far I've got these on my list:

  • Fairy Tail
  • Soul Eater
  • Zatch Bell
  • Dragon Ball
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • Eureka Seven
  • One Piece
  • Naruto
  • Naruto: Shippuden
  • Bleach
  • Full Metal Alchemist
  • FMA: Brothehood

I also have Pokemon and Digimon to watch, but they will mostly be re-runs of what I watched when I was younger until I'm up to date on Pokemon episodes.

So do you have any great Anime that fall in that, very large, category?

I am highly disturbed by the lack of CLANNAD.

I was expecting a lot of bronies would like this anime considering it has a great cast of characters like in MLP, drama, humour.. (Some sort of magic)

Most people are with the standard shonen anime (One Piece, DBZ, Naruto, FMA) don't get me wrong, I love some of these.. But I suggest you try Clannad for its story and tearing moments are fantastic.. Specially in the second season.. After Story.

Here is a clip of the humour.

..and a drama one.

Well, as you can tell from my avatar, I really like DBZ. Dragonball and Dragonaball Z are a lot of people's 'entry anime', though the slow pacing of the show can drive some people away.

I recommend Gurren Lagann or the Appleseed movies to start off with, that's how I got into anime.

As we can tell by your Avatar? I never knew that Rainbow Dash was into Dragonball and Dragonball Z! Still, I can see that. She'd love all the battles!

Here's my recommendation. If you want something so off the wall funny you'll laugh up your socks, Try "Excel Saga". For serious science fiction with social commentary on people's dependance on machines, try "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex". For some good ol' Shojo magical girl goodness, watch "Cardcaptor Sakura" and "Saint Tail".

ahhhh anime...

Rurouni Kenshin-this is a mix of japanese history,  last days of the samruai,  killer fighting sword battles,  very in depth human cannons with a touch of romance and a balance of humor.  If anything,  I would say also read the manga if you don't hit up the anime but both are eye candy for the mind.

Natsume Yūjin-Chō-a gentle but soft style,  a mix of the japanese folklore and taste with heart warming stories of friendship,  add in a classic type of humor with tasteful moments of music.

Anime love it but haven't seen a series in a while. The latest anime I watched was Mirai Nikki *Future Diary*. I am currently rewatching soul eater again. I also bought the Fullmetal Alchemist movie Sacred Star of Milos. Anime is just all in all awesome except for the ones with overloads of fanservice...

I'm not much of an anime person. I've only seen 2, but approached them with an open mind and ended up liking them.
Those two being:
Azumanga Daioh
Hellsing Ultimate

Ghibli is anime GOD!  but other than that it's so hard to decide which is number 1

I really like Soul Eater, Spice and Wolf, Ergo Proxy, Lucky Star, Chi's Sweet Home, Hamtaro, Season 1 Pokemon, and Axis Powers Hetalia....

Definitely Fullmetal Alchemist, or Black Butler are my favorites. The former is just amazing and has so many great characters (Total Ed fangirl here ^_^) and the latter is interesting and funny. Sebastian's main concern is having dinner ready on time, and his deadly weapon is forks! (Also a total Sebbie fangirl ^_^)

1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

2. Darker Than Black (Season 1)

3. Full Metal Alchemist (Both Editions)

4. Code Geass

5. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

6. Shin Sekai Yori

7. Ao no Hana

8. Lucky Star

9. A World God Only Knows

10. ... Fuckin' Boondocks!

Plenty more, but I love these ten most. A World God Only Knows has an opening second only to FMA:Brotherhood's.

So my friend said I should watch some anime. So I watched angel beats. I cried at the end. Some of me i could actually relate to like being paralyzed and haveing to be a giant flop that just does nothing and gets in the way. But the characters and their backstory was so emotional. The music makes me feel energetic and happy when they play happy rock songs. And every time a character gets obliterated I cry. I went through this emotional story and I loved it. If you haven't seen angel beats then you should. If anyone else watches anime and has some good suggestions I'd super duper appreciate it! I love stories that make me emotional like this. Like my little dashie! Thanks guys

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.

(Ano Hana for short)

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

(Known as TTGL/Gurren Lagann. It's also well acknowledged, alongside Ano Hana, as one of the greatest anime in existence.

Yes, it is mech. Don't even compare this to Gundam, Gundam loses.

I implore you at least reach episode 10 without skipping anything.

It is emotional, but in a different sense to Angel Beats and Ano Hana)

This will make Angel Beats look like a kid's show.

I despise anime chat, so I won't go in-depth into it.

Angel Beats, by general anime enthusiast standards, is outdated.

(I don't know how it works because certain more 'renowned' works[like TTGL] which are older, though given more claim, have never been called outdated to my knowledge)

__________________________________________________________________________________________

If you hate reading... (the first 2 are VERY renowned anime)

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Clannad (but if you've watched Angel Beats, feel free to skip this, you're not missing out on much)

Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin (a.k.a. Occult Academy. If you have the dedication, FINISH THE SERIES. I pledge my pride that the end will be worth it to those with an actual beating human heart)

No words are greater than mine and every word already is, Hypocrisy.

I say that I can accept that everyone is of their own decisions.
Simply so that I may judge you all the way I want through the way you think.
When you proclaim that all have their right to opinion, understand that you are placing this claim above their opinions.
Hypocrisy isn't a sin. It isn't rude. It isn't wrong. It isn't right.
It's how we live our lives, down to every word spoken.
