I named the title like this so no one would have the need for spoilers if they really don't want to!

We're up to episode 16 when it comes to the episode information leaks, if you check out Equestria Daily you can see them. Now here's something that's really bugging me. I know some of them don't have a synopsis yet, but we don't have a single Spike episode yet. We got three for Twilight, two for Pinkie, one for Rainbow, two for AJ, two for Rarity, one for Fluttershy, one for Discord, one for Big Mac, one episode for the princesses incoming, alot for Starlight, one for the entire CMCs, and one for two for Sweetie Belle. Now episodes 6-13, entire first half, no Spike episode. Only Fame and Misfortune, and Campfire Tales are the only ones we have no clue what they're about. Now Campfire Tales is obviously a group episode of some kind. Fame and Misfortune MIGHT be a Spike episode, but no guarantees. It could also be Rarity, Rainbow, or even Trixie! 

I don't want Spike to get the short end of the stick again like in season 5 when it comes to development and the amount of episodes. He's been an AWESOME supporting character this season, but he still needs his fair share of starring roles.

Now I can three possible things in this regard:

1. It's going to be a lame season for him when it comes to the amount of starring roles he's gonna have.

2. His few episodes are going to be one after the other, much like Rarity's trilogy back in season 5.

3. He's going to completely OWN the last few episodes of the season!

I really hope it's three! I can live with two! One... well, then my opinion of the season will drop dramatically. It won't make it the WORST season, cause this season is pretty awesome so far, and already better than 1, 3, and 5 so far! But it would make it just an okay season for me, but I ain't letting it slide, I'll be talking to somebody about it.

I don't know, today with all the information coming out, it made this season super confusing. I'm still confident for the season, but also nervous! He's not gonna be the punching bag anymore, at least which makes me happy, but he's still gotta get developed in some way. Get his fair share. Doesn't have to be a hero though. What do you think of this?

Well, we really don't know yet, but there is the possibility he will just not get much attention this season. On one hand (the negative side of this) he could be argued to NOT be a member of the main characters, and as such undeserving of his own episodes. Every season he gets one you get that one group of people who bitch because they don't feel Spike needs any episodes and it just pulls away from the characters they feel should get them. However, not only has he gotten them, but several of them have been really good. But maybe they are doing something different this seasons, and concentrating on other characters... increasing the cast and so forth.. I dunno. I do agree it is odd to not have anything more about him earlier in the show.... and really begs the question of what they are planning? Maybe they will drop several at once, but there is the possibility they will only drop one.... or even worse.. none at all. I would really like to see a return to the dragonlands, and he would be almost be essential for that. A lot of people are hoping for an origin story, and although personally I am not that invested in such a thing, i can understand and respect it, so think that would be a nice addition as well.

 

So yeah, it is still a bit early to say anything yet, but he may be in for a rough season this year. Spike fans may face some hard times this season. I guess we will see.

I actually hope they don't bring back Sombra -- not because I hate him (quite the opposite), but because I don't want them to pull a Happy Ending Override (TV Trope) against Siege Of The Crystal Empire.

I don't really mind this so much, seeing how Spike got such a great showing last season, and there is still 10 other episodes of the season in which he could play a role in, that we don't know about right now.

They did a great job with Spike last season. Would be a shame to not see any dedicated Spike episodes this time around because they've finally learned how to do him justice.

I'm sure he'll get his time in the sun in this season. Maybe he will only get 2 episodes and they'll be in the second half. I really don't see them finally mastering his writing in Season 6, just to start treating him like crap again in Season 7.

I wouldn't worry yet. I do expect at least a partially Spike-centric episode at some point this season. I don't expect him to get a bunch though

 

Jim did say that so far the theme is legacy and family, so perhaps they would deal with Spikes origin? We'll find out eventually (probably sooner than later thanks to  Canada).

Well after the Triple Threat episode synopsis being fake, I got a bit of an idea on what it might be about, and it might help solve this issue!

What I've noticed about Spike episodes is it's possible (and maybe even likely) for them to get clumped into pairs. We saw that in S4 with "Inspiration Manifestation" and "Equestria Games" and then again in S6 with "The Times are a Changeling" and "Dungeons and Discords." Who knows - if S5 had actually had 2 Spike episodes, you might have seen something follow or precede "Princess Spike," which would have meant 3 straight seasons with back-to-back Spike episodes!

So it could also happen this season somewhere in the second half, giving us back-to-back episodes once again. Though I'm still feeling like "Fame and Misfortune" might be a Spike episode, so who knows?

Yeah, I'm glad that's fake. I'd wouldn't like for Chrysalis to attack BEFORE this season finale. In fact, I'd prefer for the writers to give vague information about whichever episode she decides to attack, like they did with last season finale. Remember? The only crap we knew was that: "There's a threat, and Starlight will come to the rescue with unlikely allies". Only by watching them we knew that Chrysy and her changelings were behind, and Discord, Thorax and Trix would help Starlight. Though I guess the fact that those episodes were aired early in Europe, and as consequence: leaked, and we could see it

He got 3 episodes last season with both Gauntlet of Fire and The Times are Changeling important for world building and Spike's character develpment and the later very plot relevant as well. Dungeons and Discords was a Discord episode so a big deal and the first guys only episode and Spike even got big role in the Chrystalling premiere.

Not every season needs to be season 6 for him. In season 5 he had only Princess Spike which was displeasing to many and inconcequential episode and he was Twlilight's sidekick in the finale. That was similar to season 1 where he has only one episode in the end of the season so last season was unusual as was season 4 with 3 episodes as well. Usually it's two.

Imo now that the show promotes more supporting characters 1 episode is a good number for Spike if he has nice supporting appearances like he had in the first 3 episodes. I am sure he will have  a episode at one point and he could even still have two. Or he could have two next season.

Imo I think he should have episode visiting Thorax and the Changelins so that relationship can be built on and it's an interesting episode where we can learn more about the changelings. Spike has had so many episodes when you look at the entire series that what should matter is that they are good ones which character develoment, nice supporting characters and plot relevance. Quality over quantity. Otherwise it's too easy for the writers to write a usual Spike episode where he messes things up. I hope they keep pairing him with interesting characters like in season 6 with Starlight, Ember, Thorax and Discord where he can shine. Too much spotlight for him is not beneficial.

It would have been fun imo to have her attack first mid season and then return in the finale and there be kind of an arch. But it's not really MLP.

Now I think it's either CMC episode or Maud, Starlight and Trixie one (because that episode needs to happen.). It could also reference to someone being talented in three ways. The traditional is singing, dancing and acting but I can't see anyone in the show being talented in all of those. But it could be some other three I suppose in which case it could be about anyone really.

Nah, i want Spike just a supporting character, he usually amazing as supporting character, Spike as main character isnt interesting to me, for some reasons his sarcastic side is gone whenever he is main character in S6.

Then why does the show's staff call him a 'main character'? Doesn't make much sense to call him that, as he's not an element of harmony, and doesn't have as many songs as the Mane Six. He's more of CMC and Starlight's level of a role. Hey, if they're calling him a main character, he's gotta get treated like one! Maybe not as much as the Mane Six, but I don't wanna see even side characters overshadowing him. Come to think of it, Starlight's starting to overshadow most of the Mane Six!

Besides, being a dragon in a pony world, never met his parents, doesn't know his purpose in life really, you know all that story potential Spike has? I'm not saying he can't be a supporting character anymore in most episodes, but he's gotta have around 2-3 episodes of development during the seasons. I got three questions about him that should be answered before the show ends: Where does he come from? How did he end up in Celestia's possession? And, why is he there; what is his destiny? It's gotta get done sooner or later, but in all the episodes that doesn't star him, he could be the snarky moral support for all he wants!
