Bob Bergen just tweeted out that June Foray has passed away, just a couple months shy of turning 100.

She was known for a number of roles. I think there are more, but the two I can think of off the top of my head are Rocky from Rocky and Bullwinkle and Granny from Looney Tunes. I'm sad to hear that she's gone.

Also, if you see a site called Mediamass reporting that it's a hoax, I'm afraid they're not a credible source.

Rest in peace, legend. :(

A huge loss for voice acting and animation in general. I'm a huge Looney Tunes fan, and it's very sad that so few of the people behind these amazing cartoons are with us today. Ms. Foray really had an unmatched career both in duration and versatility. Of all cartoon voice actresses in the world, she is the one I have the most respect for, my favorite male voice being Mel Blanc. 99 is a great age, but I really wish she had made it past 100.

Chuck Jones said it nicely: "June Foray is not the female Mel Blanc, Mel Blanc was the male June Foray."

Sad news, but still, her work will live on forever.

I was just reading about Ms Foray's career. Wow, she was in everything! She even got to work with Telly Savalas.

Mark Evanier, a close friend of June, confirmed in his blog that June Foray has indeed passed away.

Also, I managed to get a chance to see the voice actress in person at Comic-Con 2009.  I never got to chat with her, but what she demonstrated as an actress during those days was pure bliss.  Even at the age of 91 during that time, she was one of the best actresses of all time.

June Foray was one of the greatest women in Animation - mostly due to the fact that she was one of only a handful of voice actresses that could keep up with Mel Blanc, and she proved that women could be just as versatile as men in the field.

Of course, I will always remember her from the last great radio comedy program, "The Stan Freberg Show"; my father played a number of those shows for me when I was a kid, and I found them hilarious.  Ms. Foray was pretty much almost ALL the female voices on that show, and her range of both ability and humor was quite an amazing thing to be an audience to.

From Granny to Witch Hazel, to Natasha and even Wheezy the Weasel in Who Framed Roger Rabbit... a legend comes to an end - yet her legacy will NEVER die.

*teary-eyed salute*

What an incredible career and legacy! June Foray is THE female toon voice and has given life to countless cartoon characters. She had so much personality, talent and humor that every character she voiced resonated with it. She truly had a voice in a million. I'm so glad she had such a prolific career and left behind a huge body of work for us to enjoy. In truth, she will live forever.

God bless you, June Foray.
