The songs in season 7 were weak compared to 1-5*. If not for Hearth's Warming Tale ... Season 6 would have been just as weak. He got spread thin and it shows. The additional focus should be helpful.

Dont forget the songs he wrote for the movie, they are great. I think the movie sucks all Daniel Magics for themself...

Yeah. I think he focused most of his time on the film causing less focus on Season 7.

Hum, I have mixed feelings about more songs in the series. Not so much a comment on the music makers as the fact that I feel it needs extra direction to focus on how to use the songs so they aren't a crutch to storytelling. And, if I may, I really hate the lyrical flow of a good portion of the songs from season 4-6. They did the shoving stilted exposition into song form thing quite a bit. Was kind of enjoying a less musical Season 7. I did actually like pretty much every song in the season to my memory.

I love the season 7 songs so far and I hope this means we will get more in season 8.  The Equestia Girl’s music has grown on me so a little sad there but I always preferred FiM so I am okay with the change.

Even though Daniel Ingram basically made MLP's soundtrack the way it is, I will say that I did very much enjoyed the music videos we recently got from John Boyd and Mason Rather. So I have absolutely no problems with this, especially given a greater focus on the show could easily benefit its eighth season.

Seems we were wrong about this all along. One of the shorts that was recently released on Discovery Go had a song called "Rise Up" which the credits attributed to Ingram.

Really? I actually liked the idea of having Ingram working only on the mane show.

Could be some songs he worked before he left? Anyway, we need more confirmations from Daniel himself.

Oh man this is a toughie. I mean yea EQG really kinda rides on its songs and music but the show I think is suffering a bit. (Should I bring up that horrible song during the gossip subject episode?) I mean the man is so talented but apparently can’t be in both EQG and MLP: FiM, now that the movie is over?

The show really does need him and yes EQG is mainly going to be shorts it looks like, but if they try to make another movie do you think he’d come back for it?

I was never a fan of EQG to begin with - the first one was OK, and the third one not so bad either; Rainbow Rocks was the only truly good one in my opinion, I haven't even bothered to watch Everfree or any of the shorts, so, i think this is a good thing. He'll have more time to put into songs for the show, better able to focus his creative energy into this one outlet instead of several.

A shame since EQG consists of some of the best songs in the Friendship is Magic franchise. But since EQG is being watered down to shorts, I don't see this having a massive impact. Hopefully Daniel has some say for who he wants to replace him, I would trust is judgement wholeheartedly.
