Rhythm Red 6,484 January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 10/10, but I'm extremely biased. Also, I'm on season 5 right now, so I haven't seen every episode yet. But I'm sure it will stay 10/10! Thrond 3,263 January 15, 2018 Share January 15, 2018 I don't have a great perspective on the cartoon industry, so I can't speak comparatively very much. I like My Little Pony for what it is, but I tend to prefer the lighter, more innocent early seasons to the ostensibly more mature later seasons. The optimistic tone is definitely a big part of the show's appeal for me, but I've always been most attached to the characters, whom I used to find subtly deep without the show calling too much attention to it. I don't think it's always managed to accomplish that in later seasons, and since season 5 I've found it increasingly common for the show to make the characters ciphers for the moral rather than complex individuals, whereas new characters sometimes suffer from unfulfilled potential. In addition, Starlight Glimmer is not a character whom I have much interest in at the moment, despite being somewhat more well-rounded than the other main characters at this time. I think the show can be great when it takes itself seriously, and I think episodes such as "Twilight's Kingdom," "A Hearth's Warming Tale," and "The Perfect Pear" are all excellent. But sometimes I also think that seriousness causes it to lose sight of what made it work best, like in the occasional episode where a main character has to teach the moral to a secondary character without facing any major challenges aside from the second character's stubbornness. The flip side of this is that the characters have only become more charming as the show went on, and while the mane six of the early seasons were still nuanced and entertaining, they could sometimes appear childish, whereas such behaviour tends to feel out-of-place in recent seasons. I think the show's biggest problem has been a reluctance to take major storytelling risks, which very often make its efforts at more complex characterizations and emotions come across as facile. In some episodes, it succeeds in combining that complexity with its usual charms, but usually I find the show struggles to reconcile those elements in a way which is entirely satisfying. Either it never goes far enough, or it goes too far and starts to feel a bit didactic and stiff. Plus, the show's never been of a particularly consistent quality, and every season has had a handful of episodes which are just not particularly entertaining. I kinda don't think the show's been in a great place for a while, and I would really like it to significantly reinvent itself in such a way as to give its main characters a new sense of direction. But at its best, this show can be very funny and even emotionally moving, and these characters have so often been charming and relatable that my affection for them has often remained even in spite of the show sometimes failing to do them justice. The later seasons all have their ups and downs, but those first two will always have a special place in my heart.

The most important thing I like about the show is the adventurous atmosphere of the show. It's clearly a pretty dangerous world, and there's mysterious magic just waiting to be discovered. I also like the cute characters, wonderful voice acting, slapstick comedy, and continuity and character development. There's a lot to like! 9 hours ago, VG_Addict said: What are some flaws? It's too short for its own good sometimes. See: Alicorn Twilight, Starlight's reformation, Shadow Play. 9 hours ago, VG_Addict said: What are some things the show could have done, but didn't do? I would have liked to see more multi-episode story arcs throughout the seasons. The show showed some pretty neat potential with its multi-part premieres and finales, and I would have liked to see more episodes in that 44-minute format. Adamgreen 1,129 January 15, 2018 Share January 15, 2018 While it has it's bumps, the show as a whole still holds strong (even if it had one bad season). i would say 7.5 or 8 out of 10.
Drunkfrank 1,125 January 15, 2018 Share January 15, 2018 All together, a 10/10. The show has gone from a fun slapstick filled wacky bobseries to something that is able to be serious, complex, funny, and interesting all at the same time. The characters are so we l written and develop so naturally over the course of the series they begin to feel real in a way. Even side characters are well written and more than just 1 dimensional plot only characters, it is hard to find a true one off character in the series. The animation and art is some of the best of current western cartoons and the Lore is well written and interesting. I would say that seasons 4-7 have been the best but even early on the show was fantastic at what it does. So yeah mlp is a 10/10. For other cartoons I would sayat Steven Universe:8/10 Svtfoe 9/10 Rick And Morty 8/10 Adventure time 8/

Lambdadelta 1,462 January 16, 2018 Share January 16, 2018 The show is far from perfect, it just has flaws just as much as other show. Not every episode is amazing, even few of them are rant-inducing and i can be a bit harsh sometimes but most of them are great, and even the bad ep has great quality like animation ,V.A, soundtrack etc. I rate it 8.5. Number62 1,258 January 16, 2018 Share January 16, 2018 It's a decent and fun little show. However, I was more interested in what it could've been since it introduced more mystical elements in the very first 2 episodes of the show. Too bad the show hasn't delivered in that regard, and now I remember the show more for its mistakes and wasted potential instead of its positives. Kadeda 178 January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 There are not a lot of shows that i would re watch and if i would re watch then it would have to had significant time pass to the point i have forgotten most things. I've watched this show all the way through three or four times just last year... and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Ten out of Ten for me. Best cartoon on T.V. bar none. KatonRyu 1,033 January 17, 2018 Share January 17, 2018 I'd probably rate it around 7,5/10. I like the show and everything around it a lot, but even so there are shows, like both series of Avatar, Gravity Falls, and Star vs. The Forces of Evil that I consider to be better than MLP. Aside from that, there episodes, mostly from the first half of Season 6, that I just don't like much, meaning a 7,5 is really as high as I can go. Shadowmoth2011 150 April 24, 2022 Share April 24, 2022 I'd give it a strong 8. It's a super memorable and fun cartoon, and one of the most overall solid shows I've ever seen, especially for its long run. It just doesn't..."hit" me in the same way as my top 5. But that's down to my personal taste, I guess. It takes all sorts to make a world Short and tall sorts, large and small sorts To fill this pretty planet with love and laughter To make it great to live in tomorrow and the day after! Megas 27,556 April 24, 2022 Share April 24, 2022 First half of the show is legendary. Second half drags it down severely. So around 7-8/
AppleButt 8,675 April 24, 2022 Share April 24, 2022 10/10. The characters hooked me immediately. No other show ever got me so invested in the characters that I just enjoyed watching them no matter how good or bad an episode was.
ExplosionMare 18,060 April 24, 2022 Share April 24, 2022 The first half was very good and memorable but the later seasons had less of that charm, save for a few good episodes here and there. Boom!
Cash In 22,189 April 24, 2022 Share April 24, 2022 9. Obviously the show had its fair share of bumps, but the majority of those never upset or annoyed me too much. I enjoyed eight of the nine seasons and even the one I wasn't huge on had moments that I still liked. At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
