Kindness is a necessary commodity. When we have an abundance of it, we can take it for granted, abuse it, refuse it from the most obvious of sources, search for it in places where it might not exist, treat it like a useless act of naivety, or even believe we've reached a point where we don't need it anymore. But when it is truly gone, when we live in a world that is truly cruel and merciless to all, that's when we need it most. Or, to put simply, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.
