I'm somewhat apprehensive about this upcoming film.  It should have been made years ago, indeed it was in the pipeline but power struggles at the studio resulted in the project becoming the disaster that was Ghostbusters 2016.  This film is going to be a 'passing of the torch' affair which is what the franchise needed, but it may suffer from the absence of Harold Ramis and although I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with there is still the potential for this to be a bad film.

If I recall the rumor going around says it’ll be two men and two women and no one currently seems upset by that.

I doubt it. The majority of people were upset over the last one due to how they responded to criticism and the quality. Most people are indifferent to women being the stars. They don’t like it when you make a bad movie and say we should love it or you hate women though.

The word on the street is they're auditioning preteens. Why? Why would you straddle kids with proton packs and a brand of humor that's above their age? That just ain't right. Personally, I always imagined the continuation of GBs as Friends (the sitcom) x creepy pasta, but with a consistent story and easy on all the edgy creepy pasta stuff. What we'll likely get is a bunch of corporate fat cats trying to ride the Stranger Things wave straight into the wall of flops. Oh well.

 

Oh, I almost forgot: WHAMEN BAD, GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN. That should do for my evil alt-right sexist racist homophobe fandom affiliation. No seriously, there better not be any whamen in my Ghostbusters or else I'm gonna go find myself some poor, innocent person of color and stare into them with a smug expression of a white colonial overlord. Yeah, most people don't have a problem with movies starring an all-female cast. Unfortunately, because of Hollywood's bias, movies that usually do try to force in political messages to talk down to people and that's why you generally see the backlash for them that you do. Some people complaining are legitimately upset for the wrong reasons and some are just trolls, but for the most part, people just want to watch a good movie.

Criticism that were based on the main characters being women, though. 

I get that there are plenty of actually valid criticism to be made about Ghostbusters 2016, but that doesn't really change the fact that a lot of the criticism it received was about the genders of the it's main characters.

Let's just drop the subject of the 2016 movie and the controversy surrounding it, this isn't a debate, but it's slowly turning into one.

I hope it's good. I don't care what new characters they have I just hope they bring back the whole original cast.

The second movie started with them broke so what I'd like to see is that they're all rich now. There's a ghostbusting franchise in every city and the old guys are semiretired. Then a new ghostbusting team finds something that indicates some Lovecraftian end of the world stuff and they have to call in the veterans.
