Why do some people hate Rainbow Dash?

There are tons of threads on the internet with people saying RD is a complete jerk and doesn’t give a damn about anyone else, when she literally:

-Saved Rarity and the Wonderbolts in the sonic rainboom

-saved all her friends from Wonderbolts academy 

-stood up for Fluttershy when she was being bullied 

-took Scootaloo under her wing

-was about to give up her dream of being a Wonderbolt because she found being reckless uncool 

-some other things I just can’t think of right now at the top of my head

and obviously her flaws make her stand out far from being a static and bland three-dimensional character. She may have an “ego”, but it makes her confidence spark and shine cause deep down she’s insecure. Yes I’m defending a cartoon horse get over it. :PP 

and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. ^-^

I have no problem with Rainbow Dash but she does boast a bit too much at times, which can become really annoying. If she tones it down a bit, I would love her.

I don't hate Rainbow Dash, but she's always been my least favorite of the mane 6 as she has always come across as the most unlikeable.

She isn't awful, she isn't mean and she isn't a complete jerk, no. But she is the most arrogant, egotistic and narcissistic of the recurring characters of the show.

As someone who doesn't appreciate people who put themselves on a pedestal in this way, I can't say I like her a whole lot. But I do not hate her; she has her strengths and she represents the element of loyalty extremely well. She's still the least likeable to me though.

Her arrogance is something that not everyone is to like. To some people, if they see somebody who brags about their own achievements, they want to see if they can prove them instead of claiming them. That, and also achievements shouldn't be a person's only identity, so bragging can come off as shallow as well.

Dash is my second fave of the Mane 6, but I can understand why others might not like her.

Not everyone likes jerk characters, plain and simple. Rainbow Dash is a jerk with a heart of gold. One part of her is supposed to make you laugh with how terrible she can be, the other part is supposed to be someone you can look up to. It's an odd combination that some are obviously not going to be appreciate. I like it though, since I feel it's attuned with how people don't act all good or all bad in real life.

I actually think her voice acting is too much at times, making her less cute and likable in my opinion:
 

Rainbow Dash: "Hoooooooooooo~~~~ooooooooooooooooow many times have you saved their flanks by now?"

 

I don't hate her, just, I think she is too much to care about.

She doesn't want to be obnoxious though. I say she is on the limit, almost wanting to be "too much" (the voice actor at least). The voice actor has a wonderful singing voice, and I think Rainbow Dash should be wonderful instead of obnoxious.

True, but I'm sure that there's some people out there who like the fact that she's obnoxious.

Like all the main characters she is not perfect(that what makes them relatable), in dash's case she is obnoxious and arrogant(not the most arrogant though) with massive ego, and it makes her unlikable to some, she is trying to put on a mask of confidence anytime and sometimes its annoying. I usually don't like characters like pinkie(although I love pinkie) because I find them annoying, everyone has their favorites.

I think it's because there is a difference between what people think she is supposed to be and what she actually does. I also think Rainbow Dash is harder to write than other characters in the show. Other characters have less obvious flaws, but Rainbow Dash has a fixed set of flaws to start with. She can be really hard to balance and can easily fall into mannerism by the writers.

 I've never found her voice annoying, it's just her character that is a bit too egotistical.

That's another thing. Newbie Dash was one of the best episode in my opinion. I don't understand why even people who "love Rainbow Dash" hate that episode so much.

I loved that episode, especially when she immitated the mane 6, out of character, but it was funny

I guess they didn't like the way she was portrayed in that episode. They probably just prefer her always being the best at flying.

I found that episode quite good. Rainbow Dash was hilarious, especially when imitating the rest of the mane 6

Have you looked into why some Dash fans may not like it? That episode was bad not just because of the nicknaming, but Dash herself wasn't very likeable when she pulled a stunt in her first performance when she wasn't supposed to. There's a character doing something they would believably do, and there's bad characterization

I guess I'm just biased, because I love RD too much. She reminds me of myself.
