Do you prefer and membrane keyboard or a mechanical keyboard?

Mechanical keyboards are nice, but a high quality membrane keyboard feels great to use too, and as a bonus it doesn't wake up the entire neighborhood.

I own a cherry g80 3000 keyboard. Yeah it's a mechanical keyboard.

I prefer membrane keyboard with short key travel, like on a laptop. The downside of such keyboard is that it takes less dust under the key to make it noticeably harder to press.

I've used a mechanical all my life. Membrane just feels off. Not enough tactile feedback. Still miles better than a touchscreen, but still.

I've always loved the feel of mechanical keyboards! There are quite a number of switches out there, so if you know what kind of feeling you want in a key, the possibilities are seemingly limitless! Membrane keyboards have worn out on me when I've played rhythm games extensively, so I'm not a huge fan of those personally.

Wearing headphones usually keeps the sound out, and they're not loud enough to pierce through walls if you live with anyone. :3 They are generally noticeably louder than average membrane keyboards, however.

I've never tried a mechanical keyboard, but I will say the louder typing sounds of the mechanical keyboard would drive me insane.

I prefer mechanical keyboards, although I somehow always find a way to make membrane keyboards just as loud.

I prefer mechanical.  My laptop has a membrane keyboard and I can’t say I like the feel of it all that much, and I have to constantly keep it clean cause dust interferes with its performance easily.
