post it depends i liek steam punk ponies and there outfits are adorable (i know its not in the show put some of rarity's dress are beautiful at times and other times not ....those hats she wears are so stupid looking at times.

It depends a lot on the situation. Ponies can look very nice in clothing, but as well as we dress up for certain events, they do as well. The appeal of ponies in clothing is because it's somthing else. It's like seeing a person normally walking around in lazy sports clothing, suddenly wearing a suit, it looks exclusive.

 

Let's take an example.

 

Rarity in fancy clothing for her visit in Canterlot.

She dressed up to impress the high class in canterlot, like anyone would suit up for a formal party in real life. She did this for the appearance, since she never dresses up for her friends in everyday life. They all dressed up for the Grand Galloping Galla, again because it suited the situation.

 

But rather than wearing subtle clothing, lazy clothing like we humans do. They just go naked, making the concept of clothing alot more special.

 

Twilight in her saddle, her winter clothing. This was straight out CUTE! And we could interpret it because of her action while equiping it, ot because we can compare it to other winter clothing we find cute on "girls". Fuzzy gloves, a colorful hat a big cozy scarf. I would presume the reason this is cute on Twilight is because of the same cozy design of the saddle.

 

Not only that but also, ponies are normally what we would presume as "naked" when they wear clothes, suddenly an ability to REMOVE these clothes exists, and no matter how dedicated you are to the thought of "PONIES ARE JUST PONIES" then the intriguing part is still there.

As you can imagine, Applejack in the SLIGHTEST amount of clothing (Bandana, for example ) is so much better than normal Applejack to me, who's already awesome enough

I love how the person who drew this had to ruin their work by placing a huge watermark right in the center. They couldn't just put where it was from off to the side, so it wouldn't hurt the looks of the picture?

 

Also, it was a mistake making this thread. Every post in here is borderline creepy.
