I probably can't be considered a 'real' player, since I started with Skyrim, and I'm playing on the Xbox, not the PC.  In any case though, it's a wonderfully/horribly addicting game.  I'm currently a level 40-something dark elf who specializes in destruction magic (because explosions (fireball) and laser beams (lightning storm)) and enchanting (because obnoxiously over-powered gear is hilarious).  I'm also working somewhat with archery because that's good for filling soul gems and sneak (for no really practical reason).  I should probably start working on illusion so that the sneak is actually useful, but I haven't yet.  Curses, now I want to play it again...

I must be the only person who almost never uses magic in Skyrim.

How do you guys even do legitimate magic characters? Every time I've tried, I always just switch to one-handed or marksmanship because I never have enough magicka to effectively use it in combat.

Okay, you know how the game Skyrim features child NPC's?

well, there's just one thing about it that has always bothered me; why are all the Skyrim child NPC's human?

Sure, granted this is the province of Skyrim, homeland to the Nords, who are one of the Men races, and you could make the argument the Breton children are the only exception in the sense that they are human-elf hybrids.

But consider the Dark Elves (or Dunmer), in the city of Windhelm, many Dark Elves live in the Grey Quarter, and they were taking refuge in Skyrim from Morrowind after the eruption of Red Mountain. You'd think we'd see some of their kids having followed them over here.

There's also Raven Rock, a small village on Solstheim, which is considered officially Dunmer territory. With those two places carrying a major Dark Elf population, I don't get why Bethesda didn't take advantage of this to give us Dark Elf children to interact with.

There are also the Orc strongholds, the small patches of territory in Skyrim that belong to the Orcs, if those strongholds have been around for several eras, I see no reason to not add Orc children in them.

And while you could make the argument that with the other Elf and Beast races they stand too much in the minority in Skyrim for there to be much point in adding the kids of said races among them, I still see it as a somewhat big list of missed oppotunities.

Like who doesn't want to see Khajiit kittens? a player's cuteness proximity could probably go haywire over that.

And why is it I've never heard of anyone making a non-human child NPC mod for the game?

Am I the only one who finds the whole issue to be slightly bizarre?

Why don't we ever see humans in Equestria?

Well, Lalette with the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary is technically not human...I mean, vampire is pretty much a totally separate case, right?

Anyway, I suppose it is just something that they thought people wouldn't notice and/or care about. How often do you interact with kids in the game, anyway? They are really just their for the ambiance of a town. And anyway, the extra coding and modeling for orc kids, khajiit kids, etc. would be an unnecessary drag on the game. :P

They're not actually children, you see: They're  the manifestation of the thoughts of an alien species eons ahead of our technology level who have transcended the need for celestial bodies. They use their knowledge to brainwash you into believing they are children, when in fact they are simply observing the world as a human would observe an ant farm. Alduin is nothing to them. The Elder Scrolls are common knowledge among them. This is why all children are human. This is why all children never die! Oh no! They're on to me! Argleblargleflargle! Help! The brain probes! They burn!

This question did cross my mind a few times, but it was never something I really thought about too much. I suppose the game creators didn't want to put in the extra effort and time needed to design and code in children of the Mer and more bestial races.

I'll admit though, it is annoying having most of the population human. I mean really, do I want to picture my Argonian making out with Serana? No thanks.

That reminds me, they released a mod on the pc version that incorporates a Khajit cub and an Argonian child. Pretty sweet actually.

The out of universe reason is that children were mainly intended for atmosphere and to fill a niche interest (those who want full and total immersion), so designinghe children aspect was never really a high priority. The in-universe explanation: there are children of other races in Skyrim. The expanded universe, if I recall correctly, places Tamriel's population at at least a few million, however there were only a few hundred character models in Oblivion and Skyrim, not counting the endlessly respawning bandits. What we're viewing is a super-condensed representation of Skyrim, since modelling a nation the size of an entire country is far far more impossible than modelling a nation that's roughly 20 square miles.

I have many characters on Skyrim. I am currently playing a character who's going to be good at sneak, archery, and Illusion magic. I wanted to have a little bit magic because it makes it all complete.

I don't play Skyrim anymore. But, I used to have this level 81 Imperial who joined the Imperial Legion, and joined every guild. But did not bother at the main storyline, due to the fact that there's a bug and I was playing on an Xbox 360, so I couldn't fix the bug.

I love Skyrim! One of my favorite games of all time. My character is a level 34 Nord. My favorite weapon is probably The Mace of Molag Bai. I like both heavy and light and I usually either wearing Nightingale Armor or Nordic Carved Armor which you can only get in Dragonborn. My characters a warrior.

Oh man Skyrim! :3 I remember how hype I was when I first got to know they're we making it.

I got a shit load of different characters including a nord two-handed, light armor sword wielding power house. A sneaky wood elf, archer assassin. A kick-ass fire-wielding breton mage and a master-of-all-trades heavy armor sword and magic wielding fighter.

And for favorite weapons... Does Fire-storm/Blizzard scrolls count :P

Hey, I know Bethesda has decided to stop doing DLC for Skyrim, buut...

Wouldn't it be awesome if it were possible for Skyrim's Dragonborn to become Emperor of Tamriel

I mean think about it, in this game, you play as a Dragonborn, which many of Tamriel's emperors were known to be, there's the fact the Civil War quest and help you either help fix or break the Empire's hold on Skyrim (and there are hints the Empire plans on taking the other provinces later), and the Dark Brotherhood questline allows you to assassinate the Emperor as well as one of the member of the Elder Council, which can probably leave Cyrodil in enough political turmoil that the Dragonborn could use his/her status to make at least a semi-legitimate claim for the Dragon Throne, with the people of the Empire likely accepting him either out of respect and admiration, or desperation to regain their lost government.

Still how do you think your Dragonborns would feel about becoming Emperors of Tamriel?

My main Dovahkiin is a Redguard, he recently mastered smithing and one-handed.  He went with the Imperials and is for the most part a good guy, I suppose.  I really wish they continued working on the game though, they left so much up in the air.  I don't think my dragonborn would make for a good ruler, I think he would be a good general or Legate(or doing his legate duties for once).  Though I'm sure he would be just as content with being Harbinger for the companions.  The least they could do is send some patch in to fix things up instead of leaving Whiterun a mess and maybe add some scant quests that help resolve things that haven't been.  I would like the option of going through with Vicci's wedding even after slaying the dark brotherhood.  The NPCs keep saying she's getting married soon but it never happens.  Also, it wouldn't hurt if they added some more dialogue or some such...  Hearing the NPCs saying the same things over and over again can become rather tiring even though they're just there for immersions sake :\...

I love skyrim and I'm thinking about buying it on my PC (Legendary edition, plus there're a bunch of mods I'm looking forward to download ^^), since I only have the PS3 version. My main character is a dual-wielding orc powerhouse that only smiths his own equipment, sells everything he finds and is a huge kleptomaniac. Sneaking doesn't suit him so he just takes everything right in front of the eyes of the owner. I'm thinking about making armor out of materials only found in nature, like through mining. Tedious I know, but fun nonetheless. Also, he's rude and arrogant.

I like making all kinds of random RP characters with their own rules and morals, it's hard to be a character that goes against your own personality but it gives the game lots of replayability besides making different skill-focused characters. Probably got it from playing too much D&D. Plus it really helps with immersion.

I've been playing Skyrim for a while now, and when I play, I hate playing with a character who is a master of everything. My characters all have a set skills that they use. My main character I use right now is a level 20 Redguard who runs around with Orchish Armor and an  Orchish Great Sword with a frost damage enchantment. He also uses restoration magic and on the rare occasion a bow. I've already done the Civil War quest, opting to go for the Stormcloaks, and have started the companions. I have three Daedcric artifacts right now, The Skull of Corruption, The Sanguine Rose, and the Dawnbreaker. I think I've told everything about that character...

I know what you mean about master of everything. I don't like playing characters like that either, at least not on Skyrim. I have, in the past, done that. But it seems to suck the fun out pretty quickly because you suddenly don't need anyone else for any reason. I've already finished this game a few times, but my most recent character was a Khajit (my personal favorite) vampire assassin of the Dark Brotherhood. That's my favorite type of character to play, because she can hide from just about anything, and when I shoot with a crossbow, people don't stand a chance. It makes me feel awesome because I usually suck at both sneaking and any kind of sniper skill. But not in Skyrim. :)

By the Nine I NEED to get back into this game. After starting Arkham City I kinda got myself into a gaming rut.

I don't whether I should continue with my Khajiit character or start anew. While he was a bit easy, Alduin was still a kickass villain.

Level 29 Nord. I mostly like using my Elven Mace to beat the shit out of people, plus it has a nice little bonus of soul trap on it, so that's good. I own two houses, Whiterun and Riften. I am the Thane of Whiterun and Morthal, and about to become the thane of Windhelm when I get 12000 gold. I am the Harbinger of the Companions, just became Listener to the Dark Brotherhood, and I am trying to do those Theves Guild missions, but I don't like sneaking around. Damn good at Archery, Blocking, One-Handed weapons, and Heavy armor. Pretty good at speach, and I'm working on Lockpicking. I married Aela the Huntress, killed two dragon priests, I don't even know how many dragons I killed, I killed Alduin, got a quite a few dragon shouts, and am about to storm Solitude. Wow, I basically told just about everything about my character. Except that I wear an Ebony shield, blade armor, Otar the Mad's mask thing, and a specila Amulet that let's me have 30 extra points to Health, Stamina, and Magic.

So having recently upgraded my PC, I think it's about time to start another playthrough with all those purty high texture mods installed this time round. :pinkie:
