What do you love about MLP and its fandom?

Conventions are the reason why I love the fandom. Everyone is just so kind and brotherly/sisterly. People who I have just met will invite me over to breakfast and we'll all just bond over the fact that we love ponies, regardless of sex, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or anything else. That's why I love the community.

everyone always talks about things they hate about the fandom, but lets hear some good things.

Ill go first, i like how well we handle the hate, i also like how much media is made on MLP everyday, their is always new stuff. Thing thing i like the most though is just talking about the show with other MLP fans.

i love how everybody is just accepted. no questions asked, in the MLP fandom everybody is equal.

that's pretty damn rare nowadays.

and also as you said, the media. especially the awesome amount of fanfiction that is online. :3

I'll just keep this short and sweet.

You guys are some of the best people I've met in my entire life. Everypony here is just so nice and accepting of each other. It's amazing, frankly, and, well, I feel like family here.

I work on commission so...their money? Just kidding, I promise. Though selling art to bronies has been helping me pay the bills which I much appreciate!

I just think that it's a really nice environment, moreso in person than online. Bronycon was wonderful, everyone was polite and nice and just really awesome! Tonight I talked to a brony and I was anxious because we have different political views in some ways but after like, a half hour and a game of cards we were laughing and joking around back and forth and talking about these things without raging. THAT kind of thing is just great. I mean being able to chat about things we disagree on without having a problem is wonderful.

I love the character design and the fact that its so entertaining. I love the fandom because I can post my fanfics online to entertain others. The shows character design and plot, it's all so good!

Its a really well done show, their isn't to much to complain about. MLP has lots of good music, art, & fanfic, that has to be the biggest thing for me. Its almost like the content never ends :P I have watched allot of cartoon's, especially when i was younger, and i can only name one maybe 2 that came close to as good as MLP.

The strongest thing about my little pony I believe is it ability to use the character presented to teach us about our selves, our apprehensions, our fears, our dreams. The show does it with a bit of exaggeration, but it does it. Look at the Cutie Mark Crusaders, everyone goes through a phase where they don't know what their future holds. Party of One and Lesson Zero teach us that we can't jump to conclusions despite our minds going to the worst possible scenario. The show does it without patronizing the viewer. It displays epic stories that teach grip us with our world view, and slice us life episodes that leave us laughing at ourselves as much as the ponies on screen.

I think one fan work that really captured this theme was very NSFW pony.mov series. It took me a little bit to realize it, but it wasn't just a parody of MLP, it was a parody of us. HDD took some of the world's problems; slave labor, insanity, attention seeking, unregulated science, the occult, bullying, etc. He placed them in a the Pony world where it was so far from our expectations we couldn't help by laugh (or shutter in the Fluttershy episode) at them. It brought as awareness of what was wrong with us, something other shows have trouble with.

I love how many talented, creative, and clever people there are with in the fandom. From artist, to writers, to musicians. When I first joined the fandom I didn't realize just how many talented people there were within it. I also like that the most of the fandom holds a really positive and optimistic view on just about everything. I dont rally run into too many bronies and pegasister who are negative people. Being apart of the fandom just makes me feel at home, every pony is very welcoming. :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I Love My Little Pony and all it's introduced to my life.

This is my story on how I became a Brony.

Before My Little Pony, everything was hate. I was a big pessimist who had nothing but disdain for the world. There was never anything to look forward to. In my depression I would think to myself about how much of a waste I was. I would think about killing myself because of how inefficient of a person I was, but this feeling didn't come out of nothing. My mom is the person who really got me thinking this way. (She was the one making me feel worthless, pointing out my flaws). Whenever she and I are picking up the house some, she starts talking to me. I usually never talk to my parents about anything. She tells me about how if I didn't have my little brothers, they were about 7 when she first told me this, she would've killed herself. She didn't have anything to live for she told me, and I understood what she meant. She knew kids about their age couldn't handle a dead parent too well. My mom was depressed most of the time, and talked as such to me. I picked up her depression unintentionally,  and started thinking about life. I wasn't worth anything to anyone. If I was, my mom wouldn't bring up what she did. I felt so alone in the world. I had no friends (and that's my Fucking choice; I HATE it when people think that's something to insult me about). I was sad. All I did was watch stupid videos on YouTube. I did end up discovering music though; Dubstep at the time. No lie, I felt like a God listening to that stuff. Seriously, check out Captain PANIC!'s Gigantic Malfunctions, you'll see what I mean. Sense at the time my life was empty, Music was EVERYTHING to me. I live for Music. Right now I intend on releasing my own content. Anyways, I had music and stupid videos. I ended up discovering YouTube Poops (and GOD you have now idea how much this turned out to change my life). If you don't know what a YTP is, you probably won't like it. The most popular one's at the time were Spongebob, King of the Hill, and My Little Pony. I watched these videos, and still do, because I'm an idiot. I saw some MLP ones and found the characters really adorable (although the jokes were Very vulgar). I found out about Bronies through the comment sections and immediately got the impression that Bronies were adults who "fap" to cartoon ponies. I thought this credible sense hentai does exist. With this in mind, I felt very strange that I liked the show, but not like "that". I found stuff out about Bronies though more YouTube videos and came across one particular video. This kid explaining MLP and Bronies to a class of non Bronies. He showed a clip of Race like Rainbow Dash (I had no idea what it was at the time) and I HAD to find that clip. I found it and LOVED it. I thought it was original Brony content, so I looked through the channel for more, and came across yet another great discovery.

Sorry, I'm crying right now..

I found a mix of the most beautiful music I had ever heard. The feeling was overwhelming..

I had no idea Electronic music could ever be so.. I don't know..

At first it was some nice tunes, some alright stuff, but then..

Pinkie Pie Swear's Flutterwonder played..

The feeling, as I said before, was overwhelming. I never felt so happy before in my life. I began to cry; I Loved it so much. From that moment on I considered myself a Brony, no matter what. I didn't care for what people thought, I was happy. I felt so good inside; never before had I ever came close to what I felt that moment. The next song played and I stopped crying. The mix went on, and I enjoyed every second of it..

then Pinkie Pie Swear's Sunshine and Celery Stalks played..

I cried again. Not gonna like; no reason to. I fell even more in Love with MLP. I fell in love with Brony music. And I felt so grateful to be alive and experience what I did. I became part of a community I hadn't known much about.

The reason I cried was because, as I said before, music was everything to me. Music was my Life.

(Also, when I saw the music video for Flutterwonder, I fell in love with Fluttershy)

I love My Little Pony, I love Brony music, I love life, I love everything.

That's my story (I think) in short. Please tell me what you think. Tell about how you became a Brony, or how much of an impact MLP has had on your life. Questions, Concerns? Post that stuff too.

I work on MLP Music, Artwork (which I could post daily), and Writing. I have something to look forward to, something I can share with people who are interested. (No published works yet I'm afraid. except the art, that's coming soon) Sorry It's so long BTW

[This was all before I watched a single Episode. In fact, I went to watch all season 1, 2, and 3 a few days afterwards]

That's it... Eeyup! /)

I was having some issues with a brother of mine. I've got four. The two are nine now. They're both Bronies too :D. The other two are 13 and 15. The issue was with the 15, questioning why i Love MLP so much. That's why I posted this. I had to. And the 13 is also a Brony. I'm 17 btw

Isn't there just something magical about that show, something that makes it so you can't stop watching it? I like it for the way the characters and animations look and for the story. But other than that isn't there something hypnotizing about that show? Like really?

Never been to bronycon, but sheesh, I do like it. There's just some that's really magically going on here...

For me it's partially a nostalgia thing because it's so much like the cartoons and animated moves I grew up on(especially the music). The animation is really damn beautiful as well. It utterly mindblowing how they managed to pull of so much with flash. When I see a GIF or something it still floors me to this day how fluid and detailed the animation cycles are even though I've been watching it for just over two years now.

The fact it's got some pretty detailed world-building for this sort of show is nice to, especially if you consider the comics somewhat canon in that respect.

The fandom is something special to, I don't think I've been involved with(or even seen) anything quite like this before. We've grown to rival the furry fandom(which pre-dates the internet) in size and amount of content in just the span of three years.

I don't know. I can thank my old best friend for getting me into it though.

The community could be a part of the reason. I just watched it because last year so many guys told me "I have to watch it".

The community is USUALLY nice. I say usually because there are many bronies that don't know how to respond to others. That is kind of an important thing If you are watching a show about friendship and harmony. Just saying.

There was no way for me to avoid it. I had to watch an episode so I could state an opinion on it.

I like the show mainly for the characters, animation, and the community that makes it all worthwhile. The animation is stunning, the songs are very catchy, and the characters can relate to you as a person. Also, can't forget the story and the facial expressions that the animators love taking advantage of.

Glad to see this thread cause it sucks when a non Brony asks why you're into it and you just go..."cause I am." lol

Have to agree with this ^   It just makes me feel good watching it.  I think it's just that pure innocent fun.  In our world everything is about sex/drugs/violence especially tv/movies.  So I think part of it is that MLP has none of those (though sometimes I wonder if Pinkie's on something lol) so it's almost like a detox.  At a risk of sounding like a hippy, it's positive energy to counter act all the negative stuff that happens in our lives.

I also like the different ponies.  I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.  Like I thought green lantern was cool then I found out there was a whole spectrum of different colored corps....sign me up lol.

The songs are really cool so far too.  I find myself singing them in my head a lot.

And so far (ha not even a week for me) everyone has been cool.  Everyone seems supportive and non judgmental about it all

I think alot of because there is so much depressing stuff going on and ponies seems to have a calming, theraputic effect on a lot of people including me. Cute ponies plus interesting storylines, engaging, interesting and relatable characters along with people desperately craving an escape as well as a decent show with the sadly declining quality of entertainment in recent years has a lot of people taking a strong interest in a show about cartoon ponies. It is something that caught most of us by surprise, albeit a pleasant one. It also has this oddly liberating effect on men in particular, society says guys are not supposed to like this kind of stuff so just saying "screw it" and enjoying it anyway is quite empowering.

It has wonderful animation, interesting characters with great personalities, well-written stories, likeable villains, and a truly amazing fandom.

The show itself it addicting to watch, with it's cute Technicolor ponies, and catchy songs. The fandom, as others have said, has become almost a lifestyle.

In this dark world, we can see light through this show. It gives us hope, and makes us happy. Isn't that what life is about? Being happy? :)

I think it may be really likeable because it isn't crude like mainstream family shows like spongebob, where there is always a poop joke or something flying around that kills the "Magical" feelings you shared with the show.
