In what way do you break brony stereotypes?

Recommended Posts

Well for 1 i dont have a neckbeard. 2 i'm not a skeleton or fat im average. Also theres some other stereotypes i break but because its pretty much PG here and the word isnt allowed ill just say i hate C and when i say i hate it i mean i joined a movement to help rid of it. I'm not a pedophile that preys on little boys (Yes a guy has said that to me before). Also i'm not gay. I dont own any fedoras and despite some of my previous comments i dont know if ill ever get one. Anyway i'm sure theres more i just dont feel like putting them down.

Not exactly physically fit, but still not enormously overweight (I still have only one chin)

No fedora

I dress in a socially acceptable fashion

I keep my beard properly trimmed

I easily fit in social situations

I don't own/wear MLP merch

When I tell my (close) friends that I watch MLP, instead of questioning my sexual orientations they start watching it as well and, most of the times, become bronies/pegasisters themselves

I keep my beard shaved

I don't post pony stuff in non-pony places, mostly to avoid sh*tstorms.

I don't want to have intercourse and/or a relationship with one of the characters

Hello everyone

I'm not sure I do anything, but I don't go crazy about the things I like. Heck, I saw every season when it originally aired, but I officially joined the fandom after S4. I can actually be a rather quiet, introverted kind of guy at times. If I enjoy something, then I'm perfectly happy sitting back and enjoy it. I don't need to reach out, I don't need to make fan art, I don't need to do ANYTHING! I'm happy just being the quiet guy at home, with a cup of tea, and his favorite TV show. But I do reach out because I love the friendships I can make, and I love being challenged to think in new ways by fellow intellectuals. :)

Also, not gay, not a clopper, not a pedo, etc, etc... I can't say I've ever encountered an angry anti-brony or anything like that since I don't reach out that much, but if I did, I'd like to try and defuse the situation. Maybe reach out and find the real reason why they are upset. As another brony on Youtube once said, for all we know, they may just be misunderstood and want a friend themselves. :proud:

Lemme enumerate this...

1. There's no best pony. Everypony is one... B)

2. Pretty young; joined the fandom at 12 years old of age and now 14 years old. (That's subject to change as time goes bye... :P)

3. Don't clop. Ponies are too cute to be clopped to...

4. I try to minimize posting pony stuff in non pony forums. In fact, I sometimes do the opposite way. (post non-pony stuff in a pony forum... :P) img-3095293-1-ahihihi.gif

5. I don't have a beard, because I am still entering adult stage...

6. Never bought or wore any MLP merchandise...

7. I do have a pretty high BMI, but by standards, I am pretty fit... img-3095293-2-ahihihi.gif

8. In case of encounter with anti-brony, I don't say the infamous "love and tolerance" thingy, but at all times ignore them... ;)

9. Not gay as usual... img-3095293-3-ahihihi.gif

10. Pretty "sosyal". img-3095293-4-ahihihi.gif Hang out with my friends whenever possible... :D

11. I still live with my parents, but that makes sense since I am 14... img-3095293-5-ahihihi.gif

12. "You're a pedophile". w00t, m8? :P

13. I could call myself a bit autistic. I have some trouble conserving IRL, but when it comes to online forums, okay lang... :P

Feel free to add to this if you are me... :P

Well, I don't really like the idea of trying to defend my image, to make up for liking MLP, but I'll bite.

I'm not 40 yet.

I'm not fat yet.

I'm in college. I'm not living in my Mom's basement. Yet.

Gay.

Nope! But what the flying feathers should this even be relevant for? TV shows and sexual preference have zero correspondence. It is beyond me as to how being gay has anything to do with anything. Nonetheless, whatever. I'm straight.

And I'm a conservative! And I still don't get why being gay has anything to do with this.

.... You remind me of a good point of the most legitimately divisive stereotype of Bronydom, that, because MLP:FiM has positive, sorta feminist themes and is a nice show, that people who like it gravitate to it largely because they have a left-wing, socially-libertine, contemporary Liberal with a capital "L" belief system (as opposed to say, classical liberalism)

This generalization about FiM being inherently "liberal" (which nowadays, means inherently "gay" or "pro-gay") is a big burden to FiM... My Little Pony was rebranded to appeal to kids and their grown-up family members like Star Wars or Marvel or DC Comics superheroes, which wildly range in their messages just like different episodes of Friendship is Magic sometimes give off a right-wing vibe or the opposite sometimes.

In this online environment I can feel okay saying that I may have the ... definitely have the "B" tendencies in "GLBT".... the distinction is that I'm actually rather critical of GLBT/LGBT... I think that transgenders are too good to even have to be compared; their situation ia much different.

I'm a pegasister, but I break stereotypes by not overly obsessing about MLP all the time.

I think the idea that brony=pedophile is disgusting. To rope a child abuser into the same category as someone who merely watches some t.v. show only lightens the severity of the crime. ONLY people who harm children are pedophiles. It is a horrid offense that shouldn't be compared to anything else, especially one where no one is actually harmed. That's like saying child rapists are only as bad as adults who watch cartoons. Sounds pretty cheap to me. Besides, some bronies themselves were raped as children. Would you call someone who was abused as a child, who has never touched a child themselves, a child rapist? What if they like a cartoon? Is that all it takes for you to lose your sense of compassion for them? If so, then you're a pretty shallow person.

In response to any: "but pedophiles like kid things." Many adults and teens like at least one thing that was intended for kids, including anti-bronies. So going by their logic, they themselves would be sexually attracted to kids.

I'm not a fat neck beard manchild.

Nor am I socially awkward, or a pedophile.

Well lets see, i'm the wide receiver for my highschool football team, i have a girlfriend who, in my opinion, is a total babe, im not the most "law abiding" citizen, to put it extremely loosely. And i like to consider myself a solid 8/10 on good day (based off of those facebook rate and date things :P)

- I'm a Youtube gamer (not that famous though....yet)

- I'm not hypocritical to anything

- I'm actually very sorrowful apposed to being joyful

- I'm one of the few out there who would refuse to kiss a Mane 6 if possible

- I have come up with theories on how to enter Equestria

- I actually get annoyed by other Bronies over Xbox Live because they constantly send me Friend Requests, /)'s, or ask to join the Ponygames Guild

well not sure if these are considered stereotypes I'm pretty sure they aren't

Here's some of the stereotypes I don't follow:

1. I'm straight. (i like boobs :-D)

2. I'm actually very masculine.

3. I'm a very social person.

4. I'm a football jock.

5. I don't have a neckbeard or fedora.

Here's one stereotype I actually do follow:

1. I'm a virgin. (that's right ladies)

Let's see here:

  • I'm straight
  • clean shaven face
  • not autistic far as I know
  • I like, and have played, sports
  • I enjoy exercising
  • I play violent video games and watch violent shows and movies
  • I'm also a fan of South Park and Futurama
  • I listen to music with dark themes and/or dirty lyrics
  • I curse
  • I do not always "love and tolerate"

The stereotypes/common traits I do, however, fall under:

  • virgin and single
  • 20 year-old Male
  • college student
  • INTJ personality
  • occasionally has some problems socializing

By not being a clopper or a fat neckbeard. I think the "love and tolerate" slogan is absolute bullshit. I am also striaght. I don't bring mlp into every conversation under the son. And I'm not a pedophile.

Though I posses some stereotypes: I'm an aspie, I'm somewhat socially akward, I'm a virgin, I'm single, I sit in front of my computer for the majority of my time, I have a very dirty mind, and I have written some messed up r 34 fanfics ( mostly involving Pacific rim, Nazis, and tenticals.)

I am by no means fat or homosexual XD

I plan on getting s job and moving out to either teach history (awkward brony teacher) or voice act which i love. I don't shove my interests into other's faces and am a black belt in taekwondo so I'm not wimpy either. I still believe loving and tolerating is an important factor of life. :)
