If you're a female brony, you probably already heard about the term Pegasister. If you're a male Brony, you probably don't care what female bronies call themselves since they're still fans whatever name they choose. What do you think about this term? Do you use this term? If so, why do you prefer it? If not, why did you choose the be called a Brony?. I heard some arguments like : it separates the male fans from the female fans, they may prefer earth ponies or unicorns to pegasi or some say the name is just stupid. I like the term myself and I want to know what do you think of it?

I find it hard to believe that this isn't a duplicate thread, but my laziness stops me from searching around.

I really don't refer to myself as either brony or pegasister. I just say that I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Every now and then, I say that I am a brony, then put in parenthesis, "or pegasister, if you're into that term."

I'm a male so, can't be pegasister, but I would call a female a pegasister, so now there's not really a choice up there, because it says do you use this term, yes, but don't call my self one due to gender.

Believe it or not, I did search it before creating this tread. I wanted to talk about and found out no topic really talked about it.

A trekkie is a trekkie male or female.

I don't like gender dividers, so brony for me.

Besides the bro in brony does not mean brother, it mean /b/ since the trend originated from 4chan.

I usually call girls pegasisters but now Im rethinking. I mean the term brony is unisex and if they like it then why not call themselves what they want?

That's the reaction I was expecting. I don't care what they call themselves either, just wanted to discuss it and know what everyone thinks. I don't know how people manage to differentiate girls from boys on the internet anyway so I just say brony too when I talk to someone.

So jut to clarify.... I did get a perfect score correct? Because I feel I was spot on!

Shouldn't it be Pegasis anyway?

Sounds better IMO. Pegasister is just too long and sounds weird to me.

Well, I am a male so I wouldn't know.

For the male Brony, yes ^_^ . I expect that most female bronies will despise the name and I wanted to know why they did.

Er... When I'm talking about Female Bronies SPECIFICALLY... I do tend to use the term Pegasister (dont kill me) because I simply just want to clarify it and dont want to confusion... When I'm talking to them on the forum, I refer to them as bronies unless they say otherwise. Most of the girls I have seen prefer pegasister. I never saw it as a gender divider in the fandom, just a different name for girls. I assumed they didn't want to be called Bronies because of the Bro part... but I am obviously wrong.

I'll call them whatever they want me to call them, be it Brony or Pegasister, using brony until otherwise told. To be honest, I think having girls in in the fandom is great. I like to be friends with girls, too.

So... I never saw it as a gender divider, but I understand why it is seen as that way.

(This post made no sense >..<)

I do use the term pegasister, but that was after I learned that's what most people call female fans. I actually used to call them, just to come up with a relatively simple name, sisagus.

I don't really care if someone calls me a brony or a pegasister, it doesn't really matter either way.

I've told this story before but... I found out a lady friend of mine was into MLP so we were talking and she said, "I love being a brony." I told her that the term I'd heard for female bronies was "pegasister." She said, "Psht.. Eff that! I'm a brony!" Honestly, I prefer brony for everyone because it's just easier.

I'm a male, and I call myself a Pegasister. I usually call myself a Pegabrother, or a brony. (Because of the gender differences) One of the reasons I stay with MLP is because of the Pegasi, so naturally, I want to be called a name that represents Pegasi. So, I don't like the name "Pegasister", because of the lack of a male counterpart. :\

  • 1 year later...

I don't think it matters, but I prefer brony. We all like the show and we are all bronies.
