Episode Discussion Subforum Cleanup & Completion

Once upon a time, MLP Forums was made. It was created, and just in time for Season two to kick-off. The dedicated staff members and forum members all did a successful job in creating topics for each and every season two episode, in the Episode Discussion section. Unfortunately, Season one came out before the forum's building, meaning only a few of the more popular episodes even got topics made. The result was that while the Show Discussion forum remained incredibly vibrant with endless activity, the poor Episode Discussion section was left to wilt in it's scarce activity.

 

Having started ever since last night, I've been working consistently on improving this section significantly past what it's been up until now.

 

• I created topics for the three/fourths of Season one that hadn't been created before. This thusly completed Season one, and Feld0 was able to finally split Episode Discussion into two separate subforums called Season 1 and Season 2. Something you may have noticed by now.

• As per following the setup for these topics laid out in the staff tree house tower, each opening post has been edited to include a box link to a calendar event that lists the episode, some information about it, and an embedded video of the episode. Most of these videos had been removed after all this time due to silly copyright claims killing them on Youtube, so now, they are for the moment all fully functional.

• I did my best to replace all the synopsis of the episodes with official ones from I-Tunes' library of the two seasons, which comes from Hasbro themselves.

Long story short, the section (now two separate subforums) is now complete, and far cleaner and more uniform than it was before. The Episode Discussion subforum had been in that tattered state ever since I joined, so when Feld0 mentioned late at night in the staffie chat that it was something that needed working on, me and my OCD jumped on board right away.

 

Note: If you ever find any errors in either topic opening post or the calendar episode events, please feel free to mention them to me in PM or elsewhere. I made sure to make everything as spotless as I could, but I'm not perfect

Props to you bro, for making that section cleaner. The Episode Discussions are oft-neglected after the episodes for them come out, so that neglection was understandable, but everything was really a mess there. Good thing Season 3 isn't far off now, meaning hopefully the section will become as lively as it once was again for a while. The embedded videos should help too.

Thanks for hopping on this one, CD! Given that Season 3 is imminent, it helps to have everything orderly for the inevitable flood of conversations. The episodes subforum is so much more practical now.

i must say the entire show discussion section is much better now... I think it's often neglected because, after the episode airs, you don't really see many people on it. So, yeah Thanks!

Precisely. With everything cleaned up and dusted off from cobwebs, it'll not only stir up a little more interest in general, but more importantly once Season 3 comes it'll be far easier and more convenient to sort, create and keep track of Season 3's episodes as they come out.

Of course the almighty being of chaos does something nice and orderly for once. Well, you're a mod and you have to do dat stuff anyways.

 

I think it's perfect. Should've been this way since the start, even though I realize this forum started after Return to Harmony Pt. 2 had aired. Nevertheless, everything's hunky-dory now that there's a nice, clean topic for all the episodes so far. Hopefully this means good or possibly better for the start of season 3, which is headed our way next month. Might not be as many episodes, but still it's best to keep the priority of this the same if not higher. I think it would boost the activity in Show Discussion.

Yay!! I love this idea (as usual)!

 

So cool how now you can put episode information in your post. I find this useful because sometimes when a user posts something about an episode I just struggle to remember what scene that was, and which episode. I also love how the subforum is more specific.

 

When season 3 comes out, will there be a season 3 there as well? I'm sure there will. But I love this new way of using the subforum. Makes MLP forums more fun to use!

I'm guessing Season 3 will get it's own third subforum as well, yes ^^ I had no idea God Alicorn Man was going to split the sections until I came out of the subforum and noticed it for myself, so you'll have to ask him if this is how seasons will work from now on, but I'm assuming so, at least for the foreseeable future.

Cool, now people can converse about episodes, and I wasn't here when it was unorganized! I was wondering if it was my imagination that several episode discussion posts kept appearing, heh. Well, obviously it wasn't, I assumed there was some forum renovation or something and I was right, yay.
