movies/tv Favorite Horror Movie

To tell you the truth, I'm not that big a fan of the horror genre. Surprising, especially considering my name and avatar. What few horror movies I do like are all either sci fi or paranormal (which is why I like Slenderman. It is both sci fi and paranormal). Some of my favorites are Alien, The Omen (both new and original), the first Final Destination movie, and The Ring. I also like some psychological horror, but I don't like slasher flicks.

My favorite horror movies have to be:

-Mimic

-paranormal activity (the first one, I believe)

-An indie (Not produced by a major studio)

slenderman film called: The windigo. (the acting is kind of meh at times, and the tentacles on slenderman is cheesy, but dat climax is awesome)

-another indie film called: THE RAKE

-Silent hill film

The Human Centipede.

(I'm kidding, it was terrible. I was hoping to be at least a little scared.)

Gonna go old school and say An American Werewolf in London.

What is everypony's favorite horror movie? What horror movies would you recommend to other horror fans? Ive seen many horror movies. These include: Disturbia, All Texas Chainsaw Massacres, All Final Destinations, Insidious, Roommate, Don't be afraid of the dark, Eden Lake, the eye, and many others.

Thread's been merged with another already-existing one that was very similar in nature.

Aether Velvet is the name of the OC in my avatar. Drawn by me.

I desperately want to ask this.

Is ANYONE here terrified of the Final Destination series?

Because my friends laugh at me for being so...

I'm sorry GOD I just find the concept of Death hunting you down because you were meant to die to be REALLY DAMN TERRIFYING.

Plus the movie is absolute paranoia fuel, I mean seriously, show that to Twilight, she'd just sit in an asylum.

In my opinion,

Best Horror: American Psycho

Is this a horror movie? It seems to be more of a comedy, but aside from that point:

The protagonist Patrick Bateman an egotistical, anal retentive, and shallow serial killer/yuppie; and I love him.

The movie follows a short period of his killings, his mental break, and resolution.

I..really..don't know what to say about this piece; I just know that you should watch it.

Worst Horror: Insidious (Due to copious amounts of trying too fucking hard on the psychological side.)

This movie can be bound in a nutshell as the King of Tryhard Cookie-Cut Psychological Horrors.

The plot was far from gripping; it was unoriginal and felt like just another mind-numbing jumper movie. Plus, only twist in the movie was anti-climactic and far from beneficial towards the intensity factor set for the movie.

The characters and the setting also caused major amounts of butthurt. The antagonist looked like Darth Maul with Cri du Chat and FAS; and the bullshit spirit realm in which the demon resided appeared to be a cathouse that was flipped over on its head.

Also, the producers excessive use of "Living in the Sunlight" almost made me throw up on my date's lap.

gj team.

I can't choose a favorite, just best in genre.

A good one I saw a few months back was 'The Shrine', has some nice creepy moments; some that I thought wouldn't creep me out eventually got to me, I found that impressive.

Horror movies.... *shudders*. These things really are the bane of my existence. When I was younger I would be scared sleepless for nights just from hearing stories about them. Scary stuff just generally, scares me to a much greater degree then anyone else I know. But I've grown up, and realize how irrational it was. Besides Pinkie's teachings on fear are very useful :) .

As for a horror movie I liked... well I did like the Sixth Sense, though I'm not sure if you can consider that a horror. It's definitely the scariest movie I've ever watched, and I closed my eyes a lot. But still, I thought it was a great story, and was very glad it had a happy ending.

I liked the Saw series, but mainly because it was fun to yell at the people in the situations because they did something stupid. Obviously no one would be thinking clearly due to intense fear but it's just a film. :P I also like sci-fi oriented horror films like The Invisible Man or Event Horizon. Honestly my memory is terrible for movies. Oh, Super 8 wasn't that scary but it made me laugh and say inappropriate words during particularly eventful scenes.
