It is by no means a classic, and context is the main thing that is going for it. Dead Space 2 on the harder settings was rather difficult and, ha ha, stressful. Every time I beat the game at a higher and higher setting, the credits and accompanying music (below) became more and more satisfying.

The song is pretty cool too. :P

OOH! I take back what I said before. I forgot a legendary song.

This is perhaps my favorite video game song of all time. Some of you may remember Club Afterlife from Mass Effect 2 - and the music that went with it on the lower floor. This is the full version of the song, written by Jesse James Allen. (If you don't recognize it at first skip to 2:36).

I could have sworn there was another thread just like this.

My favorite VGM of all time is

from Kingdom Hearts 2, composed by Yoko Shimomura. Another great unsung piece from Shimomura thanks to KH 358/2's low popularity is
. One of the best boss themes ever imo.

from Final Fantasy X, composed by Nobuo Uematsu is probably my favorite Final Fantasy piece of all time.

I really like Jesper Kyd's work, but some of his really standout pieces in my opinion are the tracks he did for the Sega Genesis, which were heavily inspired by his demoscene work.

from The Adventures of Batman and Robin and
from Red Zone are two of my favorites, the latter being much so that it was worked into
along with
.

Daisuke Ishiwatari is one of my biggest inspirations as far as music composition. I really liked his work in the Guilty gear series, but my favorite piece from his is probably

from Hard Corps: Uprising.

Of course, there's always the iconic music from the Sega Genesis entries for the Sonic the Hedgehog series, but there's quite a bit of it. Though I may be a little biased to the music from Sonic 3 & Knuckles simply because it's my favorite game of all time.

,
,
, and
are all pretty close to me, making up the bulk of my Sonic the Hedgehog tribute EP.

I'll be posting more in this thread as I look through my library. There's just so much good VGM out there.

Well, there is this one game that I have always loved, and the soundtrack has always been my favorite. The Pokemon mystery dungeon, sky, time or darkness. I've played them all about....10 times ^^" I love most the music in that game, it's one of my favorite part of the game!

But I'm also a big fan of lots of the Pokemon music, and legend of Zelda music ^^ mostly from the older games (like, Pokemon yellow (love that game))

Ezio's Family from Assassin's Creed 2. It really set the mood for some of the best scenes in the game, and it is beautiful

To Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X. It is touching, and reminds me of a lot of great memories with that game.

Along with this:

Whenever I hear that, it reminds me of what's right and just in the world and makes me look forward to a brighter tomorrow.

I still think that Castlevania:SOTN is the epitome of game tracks. Well, Final Fantasy IX's OST comes close but not quite there. It's so serene and perfectly fitting to the ambiance of the game, near perfection.

"Awesome Hulk" from Dead Space 2 by Jason Graves. It's a bunch of aleatoric tone clusters and chord swells that I find hauntingly beautiful. All my feels Issac, all my feels.

Mass Effect 2's "Suicide Mission", including the very end with the Reapers approaching from dark space. Goosebumps everytime.

I also can't go without mentioning Portal 1 and 2. Exile, Vilify by The National is sad and bittersweet, and the elevator "Animal King" sequence filled me with inexplicable joy as well as several other confusing and ambiguous emotions. Not to mention Johnathon Coulton's "Still Alive" and "Want You Gone".

Well, it's from one of the meet the team videos, so I guess it still counts, but I'm sure most of you have heard the famous theme from Team Fortress 2's "Meet the Medic" video.

There's so many video game themes I love, it would probably take up three pages if I posted all of them here.

Stumbled across this gem when catching up on a web series I like:

I haven't actually played this game but this track is pretty awesome. Waves has some good 8 bit style tunes as well but they aren't on youtube nor are they found in the game's folder.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?
