It was hard as anything to narrow it down to five favourites. My all-time favourite is a definite, but man. I have absolutely tons of favourite video game tracks. A lot of them rely on context, but all should be a great listen if you don't understand them.

 

Well, from fifth to first favourite:

 

 

5) Eos Tower Exterior [Maplestory]

 

The reason I love this track is its positional meaning. The track plays when you're outside a 100-storey, impossibly tall tower called Eos Tower, which is a tower in a city built out of Lego and toys. All the music prior to finding the place is joyful and jingly, and you never really understand the enormous scale of the city and the tower. So once you're outside on the balcony of Eos Tower, and hear this amazing stratospheric music, you realise just how small you are against a massive tower, and it also reminds you of how far you've come away from your original place; it shows you your progression through the sprawling Maple World. Maplestory was a game of adventure, and the music was key to achieving that feeling.

 

 

4) Temporal Tower [Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Sky]

 

This is definitely my favourite track from a Pokémon game. This plays when you reach Temporal Tower after so many dungeons before it, and so many amazing plot progressions and twists. It's a track that goes "This is it. You've kept strong and sacrificed so much to reach this alluded dungeon, and now you're here. Go get 'em!"

 

 

3) Crystal Cave [Maplestory]

 

This plays once your character wakes up in a crystal cave according to a certain storyline. What I love is, even though you've dropped from an initial titan super-strength capability to an amnesiac with no skills when this plays, the music tells of hope and possibility, and says "Fresh start, buddy; it'll all be fine" while still being resolutely crystalline. Man, every Maplestory BGM does this. Props to Wizet.

 

 

2) Path of Time [Maplestory]

 

I imagine this song to play during one's transition to Heaven. It really feels like an otherworldly composition; the graceful and mystical piano along with the endlessly ambient clarinet and so many other musical devices. It captures the feeling of descent into the cores of time's processes, which is where you are in the game - you're right underneath an enormous clock tower, and surrounded by the machinery and never-seen-before rooms that regulate time. Dreamy.

 

 

1) We Believe In You Mario [Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door]

 

Astronomical. This track is the closest to bring me to tears, it's just that epic. This is an enormous chunk of my youth. Heavily contextual, the moment where this track plays reflects on 25~ hours of gameplay where you've made so many universes better, and it could all be squandered in the face of the seemingly unbeatable Shadow Queen. When this song plays, and everyone feeds you their support through the Crystal Stars, nothing is more exhilarating. And I mean nothing.

There are many sound Tracks that i like but i will list a few which are more significant to me.

 

The first i will link is a Track from ME3 called an end once and for all, The Mass Effect Games are my favorite games and this track conveys so much emotion i just absolutely love it <3

 

 

The second track i'm going to link is Finish the Fight from Halo 3, i love this track i get a nostalgic feeling whenever i listen to it, i just downloaded the whole Halo 3 OST onto my Ipod the other day

 

Yet another Mass Effect song incoming, this time coming from the Original Game, The track is called Vigil and i like it because it is so chill and awesome.

I used to only listen to video game songs, so I have a lot.

 

The very best one I've heard of is "Snake Eater" from MGS3

 

 

Another great one is "Calling to the Night" also from MGS: Portable Ops
