Looking on amazon I see that what I think is the collected version of the first 6 micro series is out, I think it's the one labled My Pony: Pony Tales. Wonder if it's worth getting. Volume 1 of the regular series I got the paper edition. Volume 2 I got the kindle version since it's cheaper and I can read it on my tablet. I do agree with what you said. Some of the humor, for me, worked, some didn't, was to stupid or to silly. Though I don't think it would work with everyone. I recommend reading the main series and the micro series to compare the two, to see which one you would enjoy. Malinter 3,064 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 I finally got #12. I really don't buy this Cadance and Shining Armor story. It's fun and I guess the whole nerd gets the girl thing is more appealing to bronies but to me Shinging Armor seems more like an athlete. He's captain of the royal guard and we saw him coaching some kind of team. Also if all this happened in "high school" and they've been together since then how the heck could Twilight not know? Did she just forget her and Cadance doing all that...paperwork or whatever they were doing? Shining Armor is her best friend, he never mentioned who he was dating? Anyway, parts that made me laugh were Celestia talking to Cadance and Cheerilee and the Mayor in the background. She has heard it and also 'other versions' when she means the version her had as that involves a gopher. Its the Mane5 that do not know the story. In fact I think its Fluttershy that actually asks them the question. Well... if I was to try to construct a scenario around that... Twilight has repeatedly demonstrated that she's pretty oblivious to everything that goes on around her. She seems to live in her own head a lot, only noticing the outside world when forced to do so. As such, she may have this idealized version of Shining Armor in her 'daydreamscape' that she filters all her interactions with him through. Given her original rejection of the *concept* of having friends, one of the things that would get filtered out would be any relationships Shining has with any pony other than Twilight. It may seem like a stretch, but I've known people who do exactly this. They are completely oblivious to any relationships around them if they are not directed at them, and in many cases even those. I knew a girl who was formally proposed to, and honestly thought the guy was referring to someone else. Like he was practicing or something. I personally like the main series better because the arcs are packed with great comedy, alot of action in the first two arcs and plenty of references. Also the art is amazing and I love how these are even better than most episodes of the series. I seriously wish they could make real episodes out of these. The micro series comics however are a little rough. My favorite is Rarity's with my second favorite being Pinkie. Some of them just are a little dull to read and kind of boring, but you can make your own opinions. I can't wait to read the first issue of the new arc that came out in November. I'M SO EXCITED!! The end of the pirate arc was little underwhelming, though. It's the weakest of the main series arcs we've had so far. Also picked Volume 14 of the mane series the conclusion to the Pirate arc. I liked it. Fun to see the ponies as Pirates. Quite good. See ya! M'gann M'orzz 745 December 23, 2013 Share December 23, 2013 I for the most part really like the comics, expect for like the Fluttershy, Twilight and Rainbow Dash Micros and the Nightmare Rarity arc, seriously screw the Nightmare Rarity arc, the sheer level of mischaracterization that happened with Luna in that arc was monsterous, she felt more like Pre S2 fanon about her than how she actually feels in any appearance in the show, and the Nightmare Forces with how they were done make even her backstory, which is the strongest thing the character has going for her dull and uninteresting by removing much of her responsibility for her wrong doings. Nightmare Rarity herself has a really really great design and I likr the concept but they went with pretty much total straight up posession by another personality rather than having her actually be a twisted version of Rarity who while evil would still have a personality that was recognizably Rarity. Best comics are the Chrsyalis arc, the Big Mac arc. The Rarity micro, the CMC Micro and the Luna Micro (which is probably the funniest but felt too much like just a series of gags to be above Rarity or CMC) RARITY IS THE BEST PONY EVER Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I liked how Shining played Oubliettes and Ogres, the Star Trek references, and the Quantum Leap reference. The whole 1980s theme was hilarious. The comic tends to be more bold with puns and jokes. Like technology existing in equestria: MP3 players, TV, etc. It also gives us information about abilities ponies have, like spike manipulating dreams/reality with ease in the nightmare rarity comic arc.
