An episode that can redeem Derpy?

I know about all the rumors going around about Twilight being destined to be an Alicorn princess, and Derpy being completely axed.

But at the same time another rumor has been going around that Twilight will not be an Alicorn princess (at least not permanently), and Derpy might get her very own episode.

I do realize that this is very, VERY unlikely on both sides... espicially the Derpy episode, but if they were to do an episode on her, it would have to redeem her (even though we loved her appearance in "The Last Roundup") It would have to satisfy each side.

What I was thinking was an episode where she gets hit in the head with something, and it fixes her eyes (temporarily) because of this she may try to change her personality and derpy ways (but fails at it) but she does make a ton of new friends in the process, in the end her eyes would return to the original derped eyes... Derpy freaks out, but everypony wouldn't mind... there would be two life lessons 1. Just because someone is a little different doesn't mean you should judge them differently, 2. You shouldn't try to change who you are to fit in... just be yourself. imo this would quell each sides anger and complaints...

Wouldn't that be crazy if Derpy had her own Dear Princess Celestia moment?!

Derpy has been censored. Therefore there is no chance for her to have a speaking role in any episode ever again. (It's been stated she won't appear in season 4 at all)

 

I personally would prefer a supporting character episode then a Derpy episode. Derpy is a background character, which is generally a sprite painted on the background. So it would seem out of place for her to get an episode before Big Mac, and I personally wouldn't appreciate it. Maybe that's just me?

 

On another note, the rumor from Twilight becoming an Allicorn came from the background-tarp-thing someone not terribly interested in the show (IT was a joke I guess) posted on Twitter. So I highly doubt it will happen with season 4 being canon.

Awww, i thought there was still some hope for her... Poor derpy... But i have to agree on you... Derpy is a backround character, and her getting an episode wouldn't seem to logical...

I don't mind it and it would be cool, but it really isn't likely that she will be getting an episode, I mean considering the fact that she was already censored in last roundup she is certainly not getting an episode, I mean if she can't even have a line, and entire episode is impossible.

 

So therefore it is almost garenteed to never happen, even if it would be pretty cool.

To be honest though, I think that the episode would be better spent on one of the characters who are supporting or main, and who could benefit more from it. So while it would be cool I'd like it better to see another episode revolving around a character who will be getting more roles and appearances in the future.

 

But sadly it doesn't matter since I highly highly doubt the chance of hasbro changing their mind, still i'd like for derpy to become a slight bit more easter eggy and show up a bit more. Just put her in some random places in the background doing random derpy things and vola, the joy of finding derpy is restored .

Yeah like I said in my original post, I know it is very, VERY unlikely that she would get her own episode, but all I was thinking was that she needed a little redemption, I mean a beloved character that is misunderstood by a lot of people, and I just thought her being axed kinda confirmed what the people who complained in the first place were stating.  I thought they should at least add a minor resolution to why Rainbow Dash was treating her like that. (not like it was terribly bad) I think she deserves a little more, she just disappeared   Anyways this was just a rumor going around, I just got a little excited. lol

It would be awesome for Derpy to have an episode. I know it would be very unlikely, but we can always hope. I think it could have a really good message for the intended demographic, to not judge others by appearance or disabilities. The fact that they censored her seems like it's sending the message that it's not okay to be different.

All evidence points to the Derpy removed in s4/Alicirn Twilight in season finale being a hoax. Don't trust what you read on Reddit.

I wouldn't mind if Derpy had her own episode. Of course, I doubt that will ever happen considering all the sue-happy, oversensitive, overprotective, hate-everything mothers..

Even though I'm not much for a background pony getting thier own episode in Derpy's case I think it could actually work I would love to see a episode with the message being that just because someone look's or act's diffrent then other people doesn't mean their so much diffrent then other people.

While I would LOVE a Derpy episode, I agree with others that it's highly unlikely it'll happen. On the one hoof, fans LOVE Derpy and toys of her sell like wildfire. On the other hoof, parents felt offended by Derpy's first appearance, so the character is pretty controversial. Even if her name was changed to Ditzy, it would be difficult to put her onscreen without parental complaint. They'd have to do a DAMN good job with her to avoid backlash, and while I'm confident that the writers can do that, it's up to Hasbro whether they take that risk or not.

 

I too feel it would be a little weird for Derpy to have her own episode when Big Mac, Cheerilee, Shining Armor, Cadence, and other side characters have had so little time in the spotlight. But while a Derpy episode is unlikely, it's not completely out of the question.

So she was misrepresented (I'd like to blame Hasbro for letting the original VA think she was voicing a male pony, but who knows what happened), and parents/moms reacted badly to what they thought was a jab at mentally unfortunate people. I get that--after such a fiasco, and being censored, there's no chance she'd get a speaking role again. I understand, and that's totally fine.

 

But removing her ENTIRELY? Seriously? One of the most innocent and charming things we've had going on almost since the show started, and now they're going to just completely cut her out?

 

I haven't been a huge Derpy fanboy, but I always loved her and her presence--this is a major blow, as I see it. I guess I could understand the reasoning--"we had parent backlash, showing this character more could be bad"--but... Yeesh. It's not right.

The only way Derpy would ever be able to gain a more significant role is if an episode dedicated to her completely remedied "Derpygate". They'd have to have an episode in which one of the Mane 6 (most likely Pinkie Pie) notices that other ponies ignore and avoid Derpy because of her handicap, and decides that becoming friends with Derpy is the right thing to do. Then some kind of problem would need to arrise that allows Derpy to save the day and prove she isn't the "retard-horse" that overprotective parents labelled her as.

 

The moral would probably be something like "just because somepony has a handicap, doesn't make them any less special, and we should treat everyone the same, and look past each other's differences because being different is what makes us special".

 

 

It's also worth mentioning that the reddit post that said Hasbro has axed Derpy was the same one that said Twilight would become an alicorn princess so Hasbro can sell more toys. It should be said that the redditor who posted that, joined a few days prior to the post, and that the post is his ONLY post. It's just about the farthest thing from a reliable source possible. :/

We don't need an episode to redeem Derpy. She's not that important in the context of the series. If they're going to use her again, I think she should make occasional appearances as a mailmare and that's it.
