Will rainbow dash ever join the wonderbolts?

Well they had better. I mean come on she SAVED THEIR LIVES. I think they're a little ungrateful. Just let her join! But then again, that would mean Rainbow Dash would be too busy to hang with her friends.......! Aha! Thats going to be a season 3 episode! Rainbow Dash gets accepted but later has to chose between staying in Ponyville with her friends or staying with the Wonderbolts! I'll bet you that it is gonna be an episode!

That would make a nice episode. Rainbow manages to join the Wonderbolts but ends up realizing that she'd much rather be with her friends. There. Just made a plot AND a nice ending letter to the princess. :D

I see no letter, my dear ;P

"Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned that goals, even ones you've been chasing after for a really long time, may not always be as cracked up to what you thought they'd be. When those goals demand you to sacrifice the friends in your life, and the lifestyle you had before-hand, it may turn out that your goal isn't worth keeping after all. I've always wanted to be a Wonderbolt, and I can proudly say I got to be one, but I can't leave my friends hanging. I'd rather be Rainbow Dash with my pals in Ponyville, than to be isolated as a Wonderbolt."

Sincerely, Rainbow Dash"

Something along those lines. There, now you have one <3

Anyway yeah, if they do, this kind of outcome would no doubt be the end result. Dash cannot truly become one of the Wonderbolts and also continue to be one of the Mane 6 like she has been, without it not making realistic sense. You can't balance two completely different lives at once, because there's simply not enough time.

It may be possible that Rainbow Dash will join the Wonderbolts sometime soon, but I am left to wonder about her goals afterwards. I mean, what will she pursue after that? It's a bit worrisome when I consider that Rainbow Dash will no longer be driven to high aspirations. It is a facet about her that makes her endearing. The indomitable spirit of a pony pursuing the greatest of achievements is something inspirational. For this reason I would worry about what would become of her.

In response to the ideas above. It would be a nice sentiment that she would sacrifice her dreams for her friends, but a real friend would understand. A real friend would want to see their friend's succeed to see their dreams realized. To not selfishly hold onto your friends, but let them be free to realize themselves. Yet be there for them if they ever need you. A friends happiness can very well be your own happiness. The Mane 6 in knowing that they would not see Rainbow Dash as much anymore. They would be content in knowing that she is happy, and that no matter what their friendship transcends beyond space and time. That would be a better lesson, in my own view. Yet a poignant one all the same.

There have been a lot of posts aroundthis idea, so here's my input:

Rainbow Dash is well enough worthy to become a Wonderbolt. Her speed and agility puts Spitfire to rest. If she were to be a Wonderbolt, she would probably never see Twilight and the other 4 ever again. Would she rather her friends, or a huge gig that grants her lifetime wish. That would be a great Season Premiere idea, but I don't know. Just my opinion.

I'm curios, for the next season to come, will the Wonderbolts offer her a placing among their ranks?

Has the Wonderbolts even thought about it yet?

I think Rainbow Dash could make it into the Wonderbolts... Maybe they're thinking about how they'd incorperate her into their acts? None of them can do the Sonic Rainboom afterall..

Well Rainbow Dash keeps saying that she wants to join the wonderbolts and I'm asking you Will she join them?

i agree with the rest. she will probably be a wonderbolt in the very last episode. i dont want there to be a last episode, though. :(

I was watching Sonic Rainboom this morning at 2am, and this caught my attention (go to ~22:11 or follow this link):

Apparently Celestia thinks that Rainbow is the best flier in Equestria. So this makes me more suspicious of why our favourite pony hasn't at least been offered a position in the Wonderbolts. Or even become an honorary member.

  • 2 weeks later...

Rainbow dash is definetly qualified to be in the wonderbolts, but she probably wants to be asked to join from them. it shouldn't happen too soon though, because without one of the mane 6 there is no show.

Have you read the fanfic "Lost Time"? Rarity and Twilight are 15 years ahead in the future... And Rainbow Dash is in the Wonderbolts.

It's a great responsibility. Maybe she can't handle it at the moment. Plus that's less time with friends.

It has to be age, responsibility, and other things like that keeping her from being a Wonderbolt.

Raimbow Dash is the greatest flyer without a doubt. Sure she makes mistakes, but is anyone perfect? Is the Sonic Rainboom really fabled? Apparently she is the only one to perform it.

She is the first to break the sound barrier?

The Wonderbolts are aware of her capabilities. So she needs some, and they know it. They secretly monitor her

Personally I think she's too good for the wonderbolts and could easily do her own shows and put the Wonderbolts out of business, besides her rainbow trail doesn't really match there thundercloud trail. Although this probably wouldn't happen because I doubt she'd want to put her idols out of business.

The main reason she's not in the Wonderbolts is because she is the element of loyalty and if she joined them she would have to leave her friends to go touring all across Equestria.

But I hope she'll join the Wonderbolts in the last episode in some sort of epilouge where every character's greatest wishes come true, etc.

*SNIP AWESOME POST*

That...that would be an awesome episode. When they end the series, they must do that!!

C'mon everypony, there won't be a last episode, it will be a Never endin series!

This could theoretically be possible. Considering how some fans of the show have been able to make their own flash animations, the brony community could continue the show even after it "officially" ends.

As for her joining the wonderbolts, I'm going to make use of the argument thats mentioned in the fanfic Equestria Total War. Its not that the Wonderbolts don't want her to join, they do, its just that Celestia is the one vetoing it due to the fact that Rainbow Dash is the element of Loyalty.

Probably posted already, but with her joining the Wonderbolts, this would make it so she no longer has any more aspirations. Every character in the Mane 6 needs and has one. Twilight strives for knowledge, Rarity fame , Fluttershy assertiveness, AJ better worker, PP to befriend everyone, and RD to become a Wonderbolt. If any of these are accomplished, it takes away a driving plot element.

Out-universe logic: Dash in the Wonderbolts wouldn't provide many good storylines, and would mean her absence a lot of the time.

In-universe logic: Spitfire called Dash "a little filly" in Sonic Rainboom, which makes me think that she is simply too young to join the Wonderbolts right now.

'Divine flight skills are pointless if you can't form a teamwork with your partners that is both effective and maintainable. The Wonderbolts are fully aware of Dash's skill as a flyer, however the fact is she still looks out for number one as a passion, let alone bothering to try and work on her teamwork. She can also be a hothead who is overly competitive. It's not a question of skill; Dash can easily match or even surpass members of the Wonderbolts. No, it is a question of maturity and willingness to be a part of a functional team, instead of trying to be number one.'~Paraphrased from some guy on DeviantART of whom I forgot the name

As we saw in the Mare Do-Well episode, Dash has a massive ego that she loves to have stroked. She learned her lesson from that, but that doesn't suddenly mean she's a veteran elite at teamwork, and putting the good of the team before your own individual glory. I have little doubt Dash will make it to the Wonderbolts some day, but I think she's still a little young, and a little immature to be a part of it. Just looking at Spitfire, who is a lot like Dash, yet she demonstrates maturity and easy-going attitude that surpasses Dash easily.

As a side note, this is just one of the many other similarities I draw between Dash and Naruto Uzumaki from the Naruto anime, whom also had the issue of 'do everything yourself over teamwork', and whom, like Dash, is also an extroverted hothead who is loyal to his friends.

Well like everyone keeps saying, she will join but then stay loyal to her friends and quit being with the wonderbolts to be with her friends. or in the end she will fulfill her dreams, but as someone pointed out it could be like the CMC, where it dosnt really happen but leaves you wondering when it will.
