gaming What Video Game levels/bosses make you rage?

For all you Ratchet and Clank people out there I'm rather surprised none of you have mentioned Planet Grelbin on Going Commando...

That world... trying to mine all the Crystals in that world is one of the biggest pain in the asses ever because enemies that are twice your size and takes more that one hit from an upgraded ROCKET LAUNCHER and is able to take off THREE BARS OF YOUR HEALTH should NOT be able to SWARM YOU

Literally almost everywhere you turn in that vast expanse of ice, there will be at LEAST 5-10 Y.E.T.I swarming after you making the whole hunt for the Moonstones rather unbearable :/

The phazon mines in Metroid Prime. I could never get past it as a kid because of all the space pirates cornering you. Especially the color coated ones that made you use a certain weapon. Not to mention there are like no save stations to be found and rarely do you get health.

Tbh, I didn't think that was all that terrible. Just time consuming. A personal favorite gun of mine was the Bouncer. Use that to protect yourself and murder things all at the same time!

What really pissed me off was the planet Snivelak. Seriously, that place can go die in a fire. Even though it already has. There were almost no checkpoints either. That place sucks.

Matriarch Benezia from Mass Effect.

Oh, what's that? You don't want to be a biotic? Then prepare to have your butt HANDED TO YOU! Again and again and AGAIN!

>Benezia pushes you to the ground

>Can't get up

>Her commandos shoot you in the head all at once

>Dead

Honestly, Snivelak is kind of a small level anyway

All you really have to worry about there is fighting the boss leader's giant mech for the first time

Everything else can be solved by distance shooting with either the upgraded Pulse Rifle (easiest weapon to upgrade BTW. I upgraded it almost as soon as I got it) or with the Rocket Launcher

As for those helis going into your personal space, I recommend using the Miniturret (Megaturret if you already upgraded it) or the Bouncer

The main boss of the place is going to be the biggest piss off

(But you probably already knew that :P )

Yeah, Benezia sucked. Alot. Fortunately, I was a Vanguard, so it was at least possible on Insanity.

I've got a couple rage moments from Mass Effect 2:

- Horizon. Christ, I was seriously thinking about giving up on my insanity playthrough just because of that hellhole.

- Derelict reaper. Dude, scions. Freakin', SCIONS MAN. Shockwave that goes through walls and strips your shields/half your health, AND prevents health regen. GUHHH

- Collector Base surprisingly wasn't that bad. It was hard, but not mind-numbingly so. Though at the very end when I was staring the final boss in the eye, and he had almost no health, I literally whipped out my Viper sniper rifle (I was a Vanguard yet again), went Leeroy Jenkins on his ass, and yelled DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!!

Big smile lee from sleeping dogs. I beat him my first try but it took forever to beat. The way you attack is terrible and all you can do is counter him. It annoyed the hell out of me and almost made me rage quit.

In the last mission of Devil May Cry 1, you fight the boss of the game Mundus about three times. His first fight was the hardest, and I rage quite several times. I kept coming into the fight with at least ten or twelve gold orbs, which let you revive so you can restart the battle from the last possible point. He wiped out more than half my gold orbs, and I eventually reached zero and had to start the entire mission over. By the time i finally beat his first form, I had 2 gold orbs left. I was relieved, but then found out about his second form which made me mad. I didn't die once that time, it was a tad easier than before, thankfully.

Nearly every single boss in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Every boss wasn't the same as the last. You have Psycho Mantis, The Sorrow, The End, The Boss, Solidus on European Extreme, destroying multiple Metal Gear Rays. The bosses on the highest difficulty this franchise will make you rage uncontrollably.

Well mine is a little bit easy for most people, but I don't care.

The first time I played Fallout: NV and I made it to the end, I had to fight Legate Lanius. Now he is easy with the right stuff, but I rushed though the game so I was so underlevled when I got there. So what happened  I died, and died, and died, and died, and well if you could guess it died a lot more. It took me probably 30 tries to beat him with my super underlevled character.

Yeah I bet for most people he was easy....

Every final boss in any SNK fighting game, I know fighting game final bosses are hard but these guys are just cheap assholes, not even M. Bison's that hard

  • 2 weeks later...

The second Griffon fight in the first Devil May Cry game. He would always attach this fucking bird to Dante and i'd have to jump and shoot in order to just get rid of it. I can't tell you how many times that bird killed me. If the bird wasn't bad enough, Griffon would shoot lasers and shit at me while trying to deal with the attached bird.

I've long since nicknamed Griffon "Mcsquack lazer-face"

Well, I used to have this boss who kept insisting you came too late to the work when you were 30 minutes early and would keep you there for a hour longer or write you off as absent for the day. So I told him to go ... himself and sent in the office of labour inspection to his company. It was really... Oh wait. You don't meant that kind of boss, do you...

Well, how about Yiazmat in FFXII? 50'000'000 HP and max damage that can be dealt at once was limited to 6000 (or something like that). That was real fun way to spend your day.

The pirate captain in Legend of Spyro: the Eternal Night. What was his name, Skraa or something, I forgot.

Took me dozens and dozens of tries to figure out a strategy, even with the walkthrough. Plus, he'd keep killing me just as I was about to finish him.

Amazing that the dumbest boss also had to be the hardest, with multiple health bars and shit.

I haven't really managed to get past a certain part, so I might have another "most annoying boss fought" later.

I have thought thousands of bosses over the years and I'm sure I'll remember more later but the first one that comes to mind is the final battle against Chaos in Dissidia Final Fantasy. Tiny arena with a giant boss who uses wide range AoE attacks with lightning speed, can spam his summon and you have to fight him 3 times in a row? It took me 50 odd attempts to finally beat him.

Probably Genshin in Ninja Gaiden 2.

I'm not really one to play games with bosses though...but my top 3 would have to be:

1) Genshin - first time you fight him in Ninja Gaiden 2.

2) General RAAM on insane solo in Gears of War 1.

3) That freaking annoying robot thing in F.E.A.R. 2.

Not a boss as such, but the surface of the second Deathstar in Star Wars Rouge Leader: You have to babysit the Millenium Falcon for two minutes, with a dozen TIE fighters blasting away at you, without an opportunity to fight back, because the second you slow down, Lando decides to crashes the thing into the ground.

I don't generally have all that much trouble with anything in a video game so it's hard to pin down just one that I've been annoyed by but I suppose pretty much any boss in Demon's Souls could take the cake. I suck at Demon's Souls and will probably never beat it, especially because of the Tower of Latria. I can hardly get very far into it and when I do I die to this wall that shoots a storm of arrows at you. I can't figure out what to do there and I don't see any secret passages or anything to get past that.

That I can remember, probably Psycho Mantis in the original Metal Gear Solid (PSone).

Until I figured out the controller method. :P

Honestly Psycho Mantis isn't really that hard when you realize you can quite literally duck under everything in the room. The only thing you have to be careful for is his mindwaves which will hurt you while you are on the ground. It makes the fight much longer but you don't have to switch the controllers around plus it makes you feel like a badass knowing you can punch him to death doing it the harder way.
