Let's Talk Music!

Fender

Recommended Posts

Just like my previous topic "Let's Talk Relationships." I want to discuss a topic that I think pretty much everyone will have a say in!

This time, as the title states: Music.

Basically, post any songs you like to listen to, groups you like, share them with everyone else and let's try and keep it freindly.

I suppose I will start.

Goldfish: I talked a bit about this DJ in a topic that i made called ''awesome artists!'' (that strangely had no views  :P  )

Basically, he just mix elctronic music with traditional live instruments.

Here is one of his songs:

I like music from across pretty much all genres, but my absolute favorite is alt rock, especially songs that incorporate acoustic instruments. As such, one of my all-time favorite songs is "Lucky Man" by the Verve.

Right now though, my current favorite song is"Satellite" by Guster, another awesome alt-rock band.

Kitaro! My favorite is Heaven and Earth. I only heard the mp3 and I've never seen the video, so I did a quick search and copy+paste the link from youtube. I haven't seen it yet. Another famous music of him is Matsuri.

For me, music is much more than an art. It tells the musician feeling and thought through instrument in an interesting way. The tones, the lyrics, the instruments. That Heaven and Earth, I can imagine the whole scenery, the messages, and the tale Kitaro tries to tell with this song. The interesting is that even though it's an instrumental music, it can does its job well in delivering the 'scenery' and the message.

I once watched one of his dialogue in TV. He said that he made his song while he's in Trance. That made me more interested on him because he can go trance, even though he's not a martial artist. Oh, trance is a state where your mind and body are fully integrated. It gives you the best concentration and awareness human body can afford. You can move your body exactly as your mind wants. Your senses are sharpened while in trance. You can listen to the wind, see any glints, smell any smell, and feel any vibration completely.

I'm mostly into instrumental than in vocal ones. I just feel kinda nostalgic when i listen to good instrumental genre like "Requiem For A Dream" or by "Two Steps From Hell". I gotta admit, the brony musicians like Notacleverpony, SimGretina, Archie, Commandspry, Woody, Phony Brony, Foozogz etc make awesome instrumentals.

i listen to everything that tends to span the course of the world, but lately i have been listening to a lot of high energy music, as well as Enter Shikari, one of my favorite bands, thanks to them releasing that new live-album both on vinyl and DVD.

as for high energy music, Savant's 22 track album Alchemist has caught my attention quite a bit. according to bandcamp, Alchemist is his 5th full length album in just 13 months.

i don't just listen to this kind of music, mind you. i listen to everything. i have albums from Michael Jackson, Metallica, Madonna, Green Day, Limp Bizkit, Pendulum, blink-182, The Offspring, Bach, Beethoven, Vangelis, Foo Fighters, Juno Reactor, and much, much more.

This is a redundant thread-there are already loads of Music threads in Media Discussion.

I'll reply anyways.

I listen to a variety of music but am mostly attracted to soft indie rock, orchestral, and genres I can't even explain (Monster Rally...)

My favourite bands and artists at the moment are:

Grieves (only rap I'll listen to-great lyrics and not too heavy)

Sleepy Kitty (power indie pop with a little rock thrown in)

Monster Rally (exotic 60's reminescent instrumental...but every song is different!)

The Velvet Underground (haunting vocals and an eclectic band)

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (dreamy sounding vocals with strong backgrounds)

Cults (soft indie rock that has a very smooth and relaxing sound)

Metric (wide range of vocals and song styles...too many to explain!)

Gregory Alan Isakov (pretty folk songs)

The Lumineers (strong folk songs often based on history)

Bon Iver (his voice is amazing...)

Well, I listen a small variety of things. My preferred areas are (going by general genre as I'm bad with subgenres :|), Rock, Rap, Hip-Hop, Metal, Dubstep, DNB, and more recently House, Electro, and Jump/Hardstyle. I don't think most genres would bother me to listen to them if I had to, other than County. :|

Favorite Metal(core) band would have to be Killswitch Engage. Well, right behind System of a Down.

Don't have a specific favorite rapper. T.I, Young Jeezy, and Ludacris seem so to stand out more to me.

Favorite Dubstep artists would be Datsik, Genetix, Dubba Jonny, and Bar 9.

Hope I'm not getting too political for this, but this is what I'm listening to right now.

Excellent song by Lowkey about the true nature of terrorism.

Touhou techno! So much fun!

Machinae Supremacy, some nice SID metal for your troubles!

And finally some brony music for variety...

And with that I'll stop posting links.
