Possible Fan Game Idea: FIM Poker Night

All I can say about this idea is, I strongly aprove of it.

 

Poker Night at the Inventory is a really fun game to play and I would love to help out with making this game happen.

 

I would really love to do some Voice Acting for the game but I can't do any of the Mane 6 because well, i'm a guy lol. XD

However are you thinking of making a character at the start of the game that introduces the gamer to the club (is the Poker game going to be set in a secret club or somewhere else in Equestria?) And also introduces the gamer to the Mane 6 and the poker table, if you are I can do a audition for that character and send it to you if you would like me to.

 

With other things I could do, I can do a bit of writing as well, i'll try and see if I can make some jokes and plus i've just thought of story that Pinkie could tell, i'll give the story some more thought and i'll let you know about it as soon as possible.

For example, Twilight plays strictly by the book. Rainbow Dash makes reckless gambles and bluffs a lot. Pinkie Pie has no strategy whatsoever. Fluttershy makes conservative bets...things like that.

Oh man Fancy Pants would be perfect to be the dealer pony at the start of that game, and if it is going to be Fancy Pants then I will do a audition.

That's a fabulous idea, wouldn't be too difficult to implement either.

It would take longer to program though; since each pony would then have her own AI, but I think it will pay off.

Once the basic AI was done, I don't think it'd that bad to modify it for the different characters. But I don't know much about AI programming, so I could be wrong about that. Still, awesome idea

I'll be sending out the PMs within the next hour or so, depending upon how long it takes me to draft them. I'm going to be setting up a free forum elsewhere for us to work on this in a bit more detail so we don't have to all try to coordinate between me and the PM system.

 

The first PM will be one with contact information for the various members and teams here on MLPForums, as well as some additional contact information for me since I will be coordinating the whole project. It will contain information on poker terms and so on that I'll be using fairly frequently in talking about other aspects of the game. It will also include some questions for the group as a whole, concepts to vote on, such as the nature of the graphics in the game, who should be the narrator character, how much of a story we want to add to the game, things like that. A lot of these concepts are things I don't want to just hand out decisions on from on high or whatever, because that's no fun for you guys.

 

The second PM will be sent to our programmers and will concern the details of how I'm thinking we should set up the basic engine, the gameplay system, and so on and so forth. (For example, I too was thinking of AI packages for the Mane Six, though my thought was that there'd be a basic AI package that they would all use, and then they would each have a modifier package on top of that which would give them their own playstyles. I'll explain why I think this in the PM.)

 

The third PM will be sent to the various writers, and will be fairly lengthly, covering where all we want dialog, how much dialog for each little thing they might want to talk about--and believe me, there is a LOT to this--as well as basic concepts for different stories. This will probably be the longest PM, just as a warning.

 

So that will be what I'll be sending out here soon, in the next hour or so. I'll send them out all at once, probably.

This is genius! But you could include many different ponies just have some randomizing thing so that the game would stay fresh with different interactions, and maybe as an inside joke Heavy could be added as an unlockable poker player.

Is this project dead? Because it would be a good idea! The only problem is that the good thing about Poker night is that it was a crossover between really interesting characters, it really made the converisations very nice. I mean, it would be better if it was with 4 ponies/things: 1 from the mane six, a villian, a famous oc (flufflepuff or somepony) and a background pony. It would at least make it more interesting (oh, and the dealer could be discord :3).
