Are there any forum sections you don't use, or outright avoid?

Are there any forums or subforums on the board that you just don't use, or that you take a mental note to avoid rather than regularly scan, let alone participate in? What sections are they, and why is it you don't interact with them, and or avoid them?

 

I'm not one for making 'negative'-esque topics but eh, this came to me and I couldn't say no.

 

-Life Advice. I appreciate the living hell out of what its' purpose is for, and I can hardly appreciate the folks who regularly try and help out members in it enough, but I just suck with general advice, and half of the threads in there are brooding, or relationship related, both of which I can't personally stand </3

-Roleplay World as a whole. I used to RP all the time, but half a year or so before I joined this place I just lost the interest entirely. I had three or four roleplays before I became a staff member but they all died halfway through due to a lack of interest between me and the other person xP

-Commissions. No use for it.

-MLP Forums Extranet. Minus the EQTV threads which I only once in a while glance in, I don't use it at all.

Not exclusive to this forum, I generally avoid Forum Games threads as I feel that posting is redundant. I like having a post that means something, and adding to post count is always a nice plus. I'll usually venture into the rest of the forums though.

Twilicorn Discussion and Such - I personally hate this one, due to it being anarky and chaos, but I appreciate it's there so these threads don't clog up the show discussion session, but I say that we replace it with a Trixie section. Tom and I have already discussed this. Do it. :3

 

Forum Games - Sometimes I use them, but generally not.

 

Creative Resources - I don't take requests, and don't really have good art tips, nor want people to do requests. :3

Roleplay World: I've just never really gotten into roleplays in general, especially ones on a forum where I'd have to wait quite a lot of time for a response. Plus my writing is okay but I do feel nervous that I'm not conforming to the RP correctly. 

 

Commissions: I'd like to have a go at doing some or getting somebody else to do something for me but I don't see the point yet.

Sugarcube corner: I don't have the money for any pony merch.

Pony bulletin: I never really noticed it there.

General Octavia's hall: I don't know why, I guess youtube's more convenient.

Roleplay section: I love roleplays, and am currently in one. Of course, after 7 posts it's dead.

Roleplay World: Well...dare I say it? Most people here are horrible at roleplaying, and I can never keep up with the 30 posts made over one night. I couldn't stand how badly some people were at writing their responses, with grammar mistakes and cliches in every nook and cranny, so I stay away from this subforum.

 

Commisions: No money, being young, and my parents wouldn't let me borrow some for a pony picture, anyway, so I never go here (except to check on the amazing art of some of those artists).

 

Forum Lounge: Spammy. It's also pretty much the complete opposite of Show Discussion, the subforum where I am active the most. Still occasionally come there, though, but not for long.

 

Forum Games: Same as above, but slightly more fun.

 

MLPforums Extranet: Barely notice it. I have no interest in the games, and there's no point in looking at the EqTV threads because I can't watch with anyone anyway because of the timezones.

 

Media Discussion: None of the topics there interest me.

I avoid these sections for some reasons:

• Commissions: Just have no idea what to do there.
• Twilicorn Discussion: I don't like moaning like a child.
• Life Advice: Honestly, I don't hate people telling their life story and asking for advices from people. I love this, seriously. Even I've spent my time there to help people with my advices, but the problems posted there are just the similar. Girl friends, mercy problem, boredom, etc. I'm rather tired of posting the same things about mercy, unconditional love, mercy, open-minded, mercy, etc so many times, so I simply avoid this section.
• Forum Games: I just posted in this thread once, and it keeps flooding until now. I only post useful things. My habit. I can't help it. Posting just "LOL" in a thread and let it floods my contents is kinda pointless.
• The Extranet: First, my internet connection isn't so fast. Second, I don't play games which are mentioned there. Third, I live in a different timezone.
• Roleplay World: I love role playing, but recently I got busy (until now actually) and can't post so often. I'm just in two RPs at the moment. That's my only reason. Also, some people just ruin the fun. Maybe you need to make a kind of role play skill status in the profile. The more brohoof people get in role play section or their post length, the higher their level will be, so other ponies can see their level first before accepting them into serious role plays. Just an idea.

I think that's all. Are you planning to remove sections avoided most by users or what?

Life Advice: I'm not really good at giving advice, I'd rather let others who are better at it give it

 

MLPforums Extranet: I have no idea what this is

Roleplay World: never roleplayed here once, and in fact I only ever once roleplayed on the Batman: Arkham City forums, which was fun admittedly, but it takes too much time and there are other places on the forums I want to hang out in a lot more.

 

Life Advice: never really needed to come to forum members for any, and never felt qualified to give any; that, and some of the topics there can get pretty depressing.  I'm on the forums out of a need for escapism, so aside from the occasional post concerning politics, I try to avoid heavy topics and stick to ponies.  Ponies make me happy. 

 

Commissions: never needed any.

 

Non-Pony Art: never felt any inclination to look at any of it, nor make any, since I'm exclusively a fanfiction writer.

 

Twilicorn Discussion Subsection: I said the two bits that I needed to say about Twilicorn ages ago, and I don't need to justify her any more, at least not for myself.  I like her, so I'm not going to bang my head against a wall trying to convince others to do the same by typing the same justifications and arguments for her in a dozen different threads that all ask the same question or have the same debate.  That's a headache I just don't need, nope, not at all.

 

I guess I generally don't look at most members' blogs either, though that's not really a section or subsection of the forums really, but still, just not a big blog reader.

The only section I never go on is Roleplay World. I'm just not really interested in making an OC and pretending to have it interact with other OCs. There's so many OCs nowadays that it's nearly impossible to keep track of them all anyways.

 

There are other forum sections I don't visit much, but RP is the only one I tend to avoid. No offense to roleplayers.

MLP Forums: I don't go to any of the sections under this header. I don't tend to have a lot of problems on this site, so I don't have much use for the questions or whatever.

 

Roleplay World: I've tried RPing on several occasions (unrelated to ponies, long before g4 of MLP was even out) and it just never works for me. I, like, just can't do it. Dunno why, I just don't know how, and anytime I try, it comes out extremely forced, and probably messes with everyone's gameplay. 

 

Ask a Pony: The appeal is just lost on me.

Roleplay: One thing I learned from roleplays is that they are huge time eaters, seriously. Part of me wants to jump in and do it but I am sure I have the time to keep up with that sort of thing.

 

Commissions: I might request some in the future but probably not anytime soon

 

Extranet: The games themselves don't interest me much

 

Forum Loungue: With the exception of the occasional post when I am really really bored I for the most part don't really venture into that section.

I've barely even left Beyond Equestria (sugercube corner and some art being the exemption). I don't use 

Commissions: for I don't have the money or the need.

Creative Resources: I don't have the talents/knowledge to be beneficial to anyone in there.

Alicorn Twilight Sparkle: Discussion & Speculation: I could care less.

Extranet: I don't like TF2 or Minecraft so it serves me no purpose.

Roleplay world: I don't enjoy Role-playing. 

 

Now I can say with facts that almost nobody uses the Pony Bulletin. With the 100 character limit it is indeed a challenge to most people to post something in there, since there is hardly any reason to state anything. Though Life Advice has it's purpose, you are in fact, on a MLP forum. I just feel people can go other places on the web and get better...results.

Roleplay World - I've never roleplayed, really. I joined one here, but it must have never gotten going or something.

 

Extranet - I used to play Minecraft a whole bunch and go on the MLP Forums server, but not any more.

 

Pony Bulletin - Does anyone really go in there any more?

 

This one's kinda hypocritical: Art Sections - I hardly ever use either of the art sections except for when I post my work there. 

 

I don't usually use the Everfree Forest, but as you can see... :3

 

Also, I use the living daylights out of Cloudsdale Colosseum.

I never went to Life Advice for the same reasons as CD or Ask A Pony because it's just not my thing. Now that I have some duties in those sections, I lurk.

 

Twilicorn Forum: I ain't even mad.

 

Octavia's Hall: Rarely set foot in that whole section. When in need of a fan art fix, I often trawl DeviantArt or some brony image repository on my own. Looking forward to Pony.fm to satisfy my music cravings.

 

Roleplay World: Again, I avoid the whole thing. After all, it's for roleplayers and I'm not a roleplayer. Just not my thing.

 

Pony Bulletin: Read-only except for one or two riveting conversations I've had with Mailmare in my entire time here.

I don't frequent Life Advice as much as I did when I first got 40 posts. It kinda takes it's toll on you after a while, if you know what I mean.

 

I don't go to Roleplay World at all. I don't have an OC, and RP'ing doesn't interest me.

 

Octavia's Hall, I go there maybe once a week. Not much of a critique

 

Blogs, I don't look at much. Just not very interesting to me.

Because the Show Discussion forum was getting flooded with threads about Alicorn Twilight to the point one might think there was nothing else to the show than that one event. Given the amount of discussion the subject was getting and the fact that it is a pivotal moment in the series, we shoved all the Twilicorn content into its own little corner, and now people can actually go to Show Discussion and find threads for other things that are also worth talking about.

Now that I think about it, everything except General and Media Discussion. I occasionally go to Show Discussion and Forum Games (can't let the "Count until a mod posts" thread get too high ), but not very often.

Yeah, I knew why it exists. What I meant was that I don't understand why there was so much heated discussion, why there were so many so up in arms about the whole thing, not just on the forums but the fandom in general. I'm glad that the subforum is there, as it has made it easier to ignore, but the fact that it got to that level of discussion just kind of looks ridiculous to me.

Life Advice-I'm not exactly the best at life myself, so I don't have much useful advice to offer.

 

Welcoming Plaza-I used to use this section a whole lot, but I just kind of stopped because it got redundant.

 

Feedback and Suggestions-i'm too shy to complain, and feel redundant when giving positive feedback because usually whatever I have to say has already been said about seven million times.

 

Commissions-I'm more broke than a piece of glass that's been put in a wood chipper, and I have nothing to sell.
