Will Twilights parents ever talk?

So fare Twilights and Shining Armors parents, Night Light and Velvet have made at least one appearance in each season, but they have never had a speaking role. They have just been in the front row, seeing their children doing great things.

 

So does anyone think they well ever talk in season 4 or well play a role in a future episode?

 

I can think of one way they can play a role in a season. If Shining Armor and Cadence ever have a baby, I can see Velvet coming into the castle and just taking charge of things in order to help Cadence. 

 

So what does everyone think?

I don't know, but maybe they will in this upcoming season. I just hope they make the episode or scene worth it and not mess it up because of fan service.

They really ought to do an episode involving SOMEpony's parents.  I'd like to see a full episode or two in flashback of one of the mane 6's life where we can see their parents and such.

I would like to see that, it is nice to see them every now and then but to have them in a speaking roll would in a sense make things come full circle and really give us some more insight on Twilight and Shining Armor's background. Knowing Hasbro I think Cadence and Shining Armor probably will have a baby at some point a foal princess toy would sell very well after all and I think they know this.

I sure would like to see them talk at some point.  I think a great opportunity to both hear them talk and see (or learn about) everypony's parents some more would be a "Parents Day" or "Family Appreciation Day" episode involving a holiday celebrating parents.  Would be a great chance to finally see or learn about all of the Mane 6's parents, get some great feels, and maybe even finally hear Twilight's parents talk.

I'm hoping that they will go much more into detail with all the Mane 6's backstorys and hopefully families, so far all we've gotten is glimpses and a couple funny .gifs (thank you Mr. & Mrs. Pie).

 

I think Rarity is the only one that has actually held a conversation with her parents in the show.

Well it is odd that they havn't talked.

I would make an argument that the person with Rainbow Dash (presumably her father) didn't talk, but it was a flashback and his dirt appearance

 

In anycase I would like to hear them talk and not have them just be soundless characters.

I certainly hope so. Really the only Mane 6's parents I think we've seen talk is Rarity's. I want that to change. Hopefully in season 4, Twilight's parents'll talk.

Hopefully, they are the parents of a Princess and the captain of the Royal Guards. They have to say at least something  to them xP I guess their tears were enough to say that they were really proud of Twilight becoming a princess but it would of made it more dramatic if they talked to her face.

The series is itching for a family picnic day episode, where all of the Mane Six's families gather for an event and exude back story. AJ's family will totally dominate though.

 

I hope they talk!

Well Meghan McCarthy did say we will meet more of the mane 6's parents/family. I really want to see Fluttershy, rarity, RD's parents

Huh, good point you got there.

 

As parents, you'd think they talk to say how proud are they and how happy they are at having a son who is married and a daughter who turned into a princess.

 

But if my theory is correct, maybe their the quiet parents, as I've seen in other cartoons where the parents are either quiet, or very linear when it comes to speaking.

 

All in all, maybe that's how the writers intended them to be.

In most cartoons, the parents would crimp the kids' style. In this one, the characters are old enough to have things in common. It's kind of unusual in that (thus far) the parents have been portrayed in an almost entirely positive light. There's no rebelling going on here.

Twilight Velvet and Night Light have already appeared three times and they haven't had any lines?  What's up with that?  Even Rarity's parents, Magnum and Pearl, had lines.  Bucking Magnum and Pearl!

They might get lines if ever the opportunity presents itself where they can be a relevant part of the story. So far tho, no such opportunity presented itself and I doubt it could considering they're not in any improtant positions the way Shining Armor and Twilight are (both having become royalty after all).

Well I guess you can say its one of the many flaws in the show, The Parents are ignored to the point it doesn't even make sense, where was Dashies dad in the episode Double Rainboom? I would love it if they got lines and personalities

Double Rainboom isn't even canon. Are you maybe talking about the young flier's competition where she performs the regular old Sonic Rainboom? Like I said in the other thread, it's for the same reason Twilight's parents didn't come to Shining Armor's wedding: the writers forgot about them.

To be fair the writers forget about characters alot. like how Prince Blueblood din't come to the wedding while The CMC came. or why din't Twilight go to Luna in Magic Duel. But then again its a kids show.

That's my point. They forget background characters a lot, almost like they decide which bg characters will show up in an episode by drawing lots. It's just so happens no one draw Twilight's parents for the wedding

 

Great point about Luna as well. She'd have made a lot more sense than Zecora.

Luna is in Canterlot, Zecora is in the Everfree Forest. She went to Zecora because she was the closest. There, problem solved. As for Princess Blueblood, Celestia probably exiled him after "Sweet and Elite" for being a prat.

Maybe but what would Zecora know about magic? She's a zebra who's traits are basically the same as any Earth Pony's what with her knowledge of nature and herbs. It would've made a lot more sense from the pov of consistency for Twilight to seek out someone who knew how to use magic.

She demonstrated an ability to create her drink out of nowhere, so I would say she does have some form of magic. Strange, with her lacking a horn and all, but it was demonstrated within the episode itself, so it's not really an inconsistency. Fridge logic, yes, but not inconsistent.

 

Also, Pinkie Sense is apparently mystical in origin, and she's an earth pony, so there's a precedent.
