The community will probably be significantly less active, though I doubt it will disappear. Around 20 years after say, the original Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog titles, people are still talking about them, remixing tunes, making their own flash versions, modding the games for emulation, etc.

I doubt MLP will end anytime soon, though. It's beloved by fans and probably a nice, fat cash cow for the people in charge, so it would be foolish for them to not eventually start making games, spinoffs, more merch, etc. Pokemon has been going for probably ten years strong, even after it lost its fad status. Final Fantasy VII was such a well-recieved game that fans clung desperately to what they had and eventually recieved more games based off of it, and a film. If MLP is truly more than a fad, it has a very good chance of living beyond this series as we know it.

1. Pokemon is almost 20 years old.

2. MLP obviously isn't a fad, because it survive sucky ol' gens 2, 3, and 3.5. Not to mention, it is nearly 30 years old.

I'm just gonna say this;

You ponies know the Mother Fanbase? They only have 3 games in the series, not counting one port and cameos, only one being translated, released long ago in the 90s. And yet they have a strong dedicated fanbase! With tons of work and active comunity!

We have a larger fanbase, and more official content to work with. I'm sure our fanbase shall last for years on after!

The diehards (so pretty much everyone lolol) will stick around and still produce content, perhaps even more than before as they try to attempt to fill the void with fan creations since the official show will have been done and gone.

The fringe and the casual fan who only watch because of memes or what have you will most likely move on either to a new community or just stop liking ponies altogether.

It's obvious that the comunity will live on,also the show has the potential to be bigger and last longer than other shows.(a famous example ed edd n eddy :P)

I love how when people talk about the end of the series, they forget about the plausable next generations of ponies.

4th Generation isn't the end people, we still may have other generations.

I get the feeling this show's going to be the next Spongebob/Family Guy/Simpsons, at least when talking about how long it will last. I just seriously think that with the massive amount of fans ALL around the world, they won't end it for a long, long time. Unfortunately, this would mean recycled plots and such, rendering the show boring. So actually I'd rather it end sooner than what I expect.

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

@Cupcake Are you referring to the end of the whole MLP line, or just FiM/Generation 4? If the latter, I'm sure that Hasbro will incorporate the elements of the show which made so many people outside of the main audience flock to the show into future shows and generations. They'll never be the same as FiM, but they may be even better, only time will tell.

If you're talking about the end of all Little Ponies, then, not sure what to say, the end will come someday, but I'm sure that the end will be very very far off, especially with FiM raking in hoardes of new fans. Buy lots of Pony toys and keep them in a glass case, they'll always be there for you. ;)

@Tom A great comparison you've drawn, good taste. :)

The show may end, but the brony/pegasister fandom will live on!

Besides, I think that as long as there are enough active fans to watch the show and maintain its popularity, it'll be around!

I hope this show goes along the lines of how One Piece went. that is, no forseeable end :D

I know this may sound a bit silly in retrospect when I see this tomorrow, but I had a sudden strange revelation/feeling in my gut about the whole brony phenomenon. What will become of bronies in years to come? How long will MLP last? Will there eventually be no bronies or all bronies? I just had a flow of questions gush through my mind dam. What are your opinions on these leaking questions?

Don't hold back! ;)

What will become of bronies in years to come?

First off, I feel that, no matter what, bronies as a group will never dissipate. We are a strong community now, and we will be a strong community throughout the future.

How long will MLP last?

Saddening as it is, MLP:FIM, like every other cartoon ever made, will end. It is inevitable, but there is no telling when it'll end. It could be tomorrow, or it could be 20 years from now. However, the fanbase will hopefully never end, because as long as one brony still stands, the love and tolerance will still flow.

Will there eventually be no bronies or all bronies?

If you ask me, there will never be all bronies, as there will always be trolls, haters, and such.

Don't hold back! ;)

I didn't :3

MLP itself is already doing pretty well as far as TV series go. Two seasons officially done and a third season in the works is pretty impressive for a show nowadays, and with as much support it's getting from bronies and non-brony fans, it'll definitely be a while before it starts slowing down. As for us, I think bronies have already established a good foundation as a sub-culture, thanks to the media. So, as long as places like this, Equestria Daily, and YouTube exist, we'll always have something to keep us busy!

Same thing as every other Fandom.

"Oh, those people".

That's about it.

Except this is grade A sticky stuff and will prolly hold out a bit longer in mainstream list of things to "be".

Especially since some let being a ponyhead be the defining feature of their existence and must spew it everywhere.

Same old, same old.

Wax and wane of of interests. Old and new going and coming.

IDK, until episodes start to repeat themselves. I'd say season 3 midpoint based on the average.

Then it will take about a year since there will be no "new" content to keep the interest up.

I feel as though Bronies right now are more stable than a lot of fandoms were at this stage, But this is the point where I think there will be a lot more people "revealing" that they're brony because it's been advertised so much and it's going into it's third season with a huge and strong season finale of it's second season , and it's going to get to the point where bronies will be huge, even bigger than what we are right now. I'm excited for our future, it's bright and shiny future full of love and toleration. :3

I have the show predicted for 5 seasons which is great for a kids show.

And the Brony fandom will die slowly after that until it gets down to the more dedicated fans.

you're a "glass half empty" kinda person, ain't ya?

:3 i jest.
