Phoenix237 353 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 Okay for those who haven't heard they are making a manga series in Japan for my little pony.(image unrelated)What's strange is usually you have the manga first, then the anime, then the dubbing. Now it's kinda backwards with the show first then the dubbin then the manga.Anyways what are your thoughts in this news? Other OP: SO IT BEGINS Omg Twily and Pinkie are adorkable! There are more pages but I'll just show you guys these two instead Yes guys this is serious. So the mlp manga has been released today in the japanese magazine called "Pucchigumi". So it seems like Akira Himekawa (who is best known for their work on Legend of Zelda manga) is working on the mlp manga. Well I haven't read it yet since it was just released, so I can't judge if it's good or not. So now I want to know what are your thoughts about it? Do you think it could be good? Or maybe it's not your cup of tea? Discuss your thoughts about it! It would be nice to hear!

sLORT 28 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 Interesting. I wonder how they will pull this off though. Japan already has a industry dominated by tons of popular animation and manga, so I wonder how this series will go.
Sugar Cube 4,843 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 (edited) While I'm happy for the Japanese fans, it won't really excite me unless we get to read the manga too. Still, it seems that Japan is really going all out on the Pony launch. They've been hyping up the show, and they've got their own plush toys and now a manga to go with it. Gotta love that spirit. I hope Friendship is Magic becomes a huge hit there. Edited March 27, 2013 by Sugar Cube

Two-of-Hearts 168 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 It does definetly spark my interest. MLP was meant to be a show for young (age 4-8) American girls, and so it was designed to be very very PC. A Japanese Manga will quickly do away with any semblence of PC or target age demographic. Bronies have been kind of back and forth on this issue: some want MLP to be more hardcore and geared towards and older audience, others want MLP to stay innocent. And I'm pretty sure a Japense Manga will swing more heavily in the direction of 'hardcore and geared towards an older audience.' Just repeat to yourself it's just a show, I should really just relax. -Mystery Science Theater 3000 You're dead if you aim only for kids, adults are just kids grown up anyway. -Walt Disney

Mand'alor Dash 2,224 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 Here's why the English speakers should be excited: FiM is getting big. Really big. Worldwide. You know what this means? Season 5 confirmed. I grew bored with Pokemon years ago and never really got into Digimon but for a good while was still into Yu-Gi-Oh. I would still be into the card game if I had anyone to play it with but the latest anime incarnation (Zexal) just dosen't do it for me which is really dissapointing because the last one being 5D's was the best one since the original. You forget that NOT EVERYTHING that gets big fades quickly or completely. Just look at Star Trek, Star Wars, and Firefly(it got cancelled over 10 years ago) all of whom STILL have active fandoms. I for one see the current brony fandom being like the ones I listed above as opposed to the shows you have listed. Something of note: Star Trek the original series was cancelled after it's third season. Star Trek: The Next Generation was expected to get cancelled after it's first season, it ended up lasting a full seven seasons. FoxyCryptid 4,330 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 I hope we get some fanf translations of it, at the very least. I think it could be fun to see something FiM related done in a manga style, I've alway's liked the way more anime styled ponies looked. pinkiefan1287 610 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 Wow, first a comic book and now a manga. MLP sure is getting more, and more stuff. As for MLP getting a manga that sounds like a pretty cool idea. It well be interesting to see how others well look at the characters. Makes me kinda wonder what kinda of stories they well come up with. Well it be an adventure series like Naruto and One Piece or well it be more like Lucky Star and just be short comedy stories? Guesses only time well tell. Made by Gone ϟ Airbourne
푸딩군 48 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 (edited) it sounds really good. I hope they don't change anything of the main characters (at least not too much) , but i guess to see them with other style (in this case: a manga style) could be refreshing :3 and hoping it doesn't fall into a poor storyline. well, we will see. Hello. There was actually a topic in Sugarcube Corner made slightly before yours for the purpose of announcing the upcoming manga series, and for convenience I have merged the two threads. As a big manga fan I'm really curious about this, and how it will differ from the comics. I'll definitely be giving this a read
GrooveBroove 680 March 27, 2013 Share March 27, 2013 It's going to be fun to watch the show again with the Japanese Dub.Since they really seem to be taking it seriously. MLP seems like a perfect for japan. I'll be interested in the Manga especially if they explore a bit more into the characters (Even if it's not completely canon). Chuckles4lyfe 441 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 Wow, this is great news from Japan. First the dub of the show, and now a fully fleshed out Manga? If the manga is of the same quality as the comics that we have over here in the states, then I will definitely be interested in reading it. So it looks like i'm not the only one whose going to end up re-watching the entire 1st 2 seasons with English subs then . #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. hawkflame 3,310 March 28, 2013 Share March 28, 2013 You think there's any chance that something like this will be licensed?
