Synthoid? Never really hear that one. Other than synths in Fallout 4.

Golden age SciFi term - Robot was coined in the 1920s and was originally used for synthetic but artificial lifeforms in a story by Karel Capek. The term android also doesn't imply a nonorganic, but was originally used for both synthoids and mechanical human-shaped artificial lifeforms.  Asimov (who also invented the "three laws of robotics" and the idea of a positronic brain) popularized the term robot for his mechanical men, and the idea of synthoids became much less common (although they have had a bit of a revival, starting with bladerunner :D)

Now you're starting to sound like my humanities class. Here's my thoughts: A cyborg is a human trying hard to be a robot and an android is a robot trying hard to be a human.

Though the definition of cyborg, the one I was taught, was a lot more general: even if you wear something as simple as a watch or glasses, you're a cyborg.

Cyborg is human w/ metal parts. Android is robot that looks like a human.

Clean cut, done.

Well, I wanna share to you the definition of cyborg I was taught, but I can't find it anywhere, but it's not just metal parts. Basically, if that non-biological component affects you in a way that changes how you behave, and you act accordingly with said component, that's cybernetics. The broadest definition includes driving a car or wearing glasses or foofing with your phone all day.

It's probably weird that my humanities class had an entire segment on robots and AI.

Seems like you get some kind of VATS upgrade if you hand over the android.

(And a plasma rifle if you don't)

Hmmh..

"You have bug eyes" : 2017 :: "We are number one" : 2016

Fidget spinners : 2017 :: Hoverboards : 2015

Intel : AMD : 2015 :: AMD : Intel : 2017

There's probably a few others I haven't accounted for.

Dangit, I wrote it wrong. I meant this:

"You have bug eyes" : 2017 :: TheLegend27 : 2016 :: "Head on, apply directly to the forehead" : Early 2010s or late 2000s
