So i know every fandom doesn't always keeps it members and it can be a little sad when you hear about great people who have decided to leave the fandom. So I wanted to hear from people who feel like their losing interest in the fandom and find out why. Now this is more for my curiosity and just to hear from Bronies who feel like they are thinking of leaving the fandom. Also This thread is meant for people who think of themselves as Bronies, So feel free to leave your input but please try to keep this thread peaceful you know friendship, kindness, and all that laugh.png

I'm not losing an interest in the fandom itself, I am just starting to not like some of the people in it, quite a bit really. Like other communities, this one has it's fair share of elitists and, with the recent events being a perfect example, doom and gloomers. Nothing better than getting on the forums and seeing some people trying to constantly outdo one another and THE SHOW IS DOOMED BLEH! Luckily, the latter of that might be declining now, so, there is that. There are tons of great people in the fandom, but the ones that are bad, are really bad in my opinion.

This kinda reminds me of my brother's view on religion actually. :P

I'm not out of the fandom, I just don't see a point in rewatching the whole mlp series.. (for a fifth time)

so I've been finding less ways to practice the art of being a brony aside from listening to music and making public references like everypony. :/

then I found these forums.. xD

Not going away either. Too invested and have too many plans for future music. It sucks not having any new eps around to watch and write about. It sucks that there's a whole lot LESS to talk about here and whole lot more negatives to focus on.  So 6 months of doing my own thing and staying in close contact with friends and avoiding negativity and naysayers in the community. If that's what it takes to stay happy then i suggest people do the same. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.

I've been in this fandom for two/three years, for one thing. Not to mention we're in between seasons right now.

I also am tired of all the irrational hate. Especially towards the earliest antagonists of the show (Not including Nightmare Moon) and the freak outs by the fandom whenever something new happens. That's severely irritating, and makes me hate the fandom.

I do like most other aspects, though, and am therefore not leaving just yet.

I'm not losing interest in the fandom either. There's just not much going on at the moment, so there's not much to talk about. The only thing "interesting" at the moment is EQG, really.

probably the main reason I was getting at, the fact we're in between seasons.

and the overreacting is annoying, but hey, that's what the forums are for. to discuss stuff and probably overreact at twilicorn XD although I dislike it too.

I think that's another thing. Twilicorn ruined it for a lot of ppl.

It's like being a Highlander fan, even if there's nothing Highlander related to do, the moment someone says "There Can Be Only One" you're up and ready to do some fanboying.

For me though this is a little stronger because it's a strange case with this show and fandom. Outside of childhood shows, I've never had so many emotions tied to a piece of media. This show and it's fans have made me shed sincere tears of both sadness and joy, laugh harder than I ever have, smile wider, and truly feel alive and free, like I've shattered my own self-built emotional prison. It's given me renewed faith because these emotions make me believe there's more to us than flesh, blood, and animal instinct.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm here for the long haul.

This is a bit of how I feel too (Especially on forums). But I also feel that bronies have lost their roots, and it doesn't feel as unique anymore. But my major reason for losing interest is the lack of content being pushed out I guess. I was in love with season 2, season 3 felt rushed to me. I'm not sure if I 100% agree with where the show may be going either, so I am iffy.

I don't plan on leaving the fandom nor am I loosing interest, but it kinda bugs me when people freak out over little things. Twilight being an Alicorn didn't bug me but it bugged a lot of people. A new trailer of EG came out and already people are negatively judging it when they haven't even seen it. I can't judge it cause i've only seen a small portion of it. Though I do feel embarrassed when I see people over-reacting on such trivial matters.

I, too, can't answer your question, either. Despite the rough crap that's been going around over the past week and the fact there's only one so-called "interesting" FIM-related thing going on, I'm still sticking with the fandom because I haven't lost interest nor time in investing myself in being a part of the community and loyal watcher and critic of the main show itself.

I joined the fandom just a couple of months ago, so I'm still gaining interest. smile.png

However, a good way to lose interest would be to spend too much time in EG discussions, where things are quite messy. There is a lot of negativity going on, and a lot of negativity towards the negativity, neither of which is helping much. Too much "hate" and anger is tiresome to witness, but that's where most of the discussion is right now (because there is not much else going on other than EG stuff).

But whenever I look at some fan art/fan music/fanfics I feel revitalized. happy.png

Wow, just me, huh?

I'll admit, I've found it pretty tough at times to maintain my interest in this fandom. I still love the show itself, but a lot of the people in this fandom, especially the most prominent people, the "movers and shakers", are just terrible people.

The fandom is nothing like what I was expecting going in. I jumped into this fandom expecting most within it to have a great appreciation and respect for the show and its message, and just as importantly, an appreciation for the art in all forms that comes from such a large and recognized fandom. What I ended up finding was a bunch of people whose beliefs are so far away from the message of the show, and a fandom influenced far too much by terrible sites that have no appreciation for any sort of art.

It hasn't all been bad for me. The show's great in and of itself, and discussing one's interests with others is always a fun thing. I can't deny that several hundred of my subscribers are there for my metal covers of the pone, and the reception to that music has been pretty cool. I've found a few great musicians that I would have never heard had I not dove into the brony music scene, a few great artists I would have never known about if I hadn't looked. And I've gotten the chance to meet a lot of cool people during my time on MLP Forums that I otherwise wouldn't.

But during the past nine months, I've experienced just how disgusting the most popular sites in this community are, and even more alarmingly, the discovery that the show seems to draw a lot of people that really cannot be described accurately without it coming off as insulting. I've watched people on a forum centered around friendship express disdain for compassion, and often that disdain has been presented in ways that are nothing short of psychopathic. I've watched my music get rejected from the medium that most brony music fans go to discover new brony music, not because my music is bad, but because the guy running it "didn't like my name" or some stupid bullshit like that. I watched a site that "aims to professionally highlight an array of programs and content" ban me simply because the track I suggested happened to be hosted on Pony.fm. I watched a rabid pool of incompetence and fanboyism attack me simply because I had a few worthwhile and largely correct (if rather poorly-worded) criticisms on the most popular brony site on the Internet, and then watched as the leaders of that self-described "helpful" community condone that aggressive and hostile behavior. My time as a brony has been pretty cool, but just as much, it has also sucked.

The only thing that keeps me from just saying "screw it" and focusing solely on endeavors and interests that are far more fulfilling to me is the existence of guys who intend to do this fandom some actual good. If it wasn't for this forum trying to create what is literally the only decent MLP community on the Internet, and if it wasn't for Feld0 creating what is intended to be the best brony music site in every possible way, and if it wasn't for the few fans I have that show appreciation for my music despite the most popular sites shrugging me off in favor of popular mediocrity, I'd probably just be watching MLP every now and then like any other; a brony in name only, and not in contribution or support.

There are times when I think about ditching this forum account and my support for what little good there is in the community, and hanging up my own brony music gloves, but I've never quite reached that point yet. But I can definitely understand why some would.

I'm here to stay, bro. :3

Maybe it's just because I became a brony recently, and didn't have much time to settle into things "as they were" before all the recent drama, but I've been able to shake things off pretty well and see the positive and beyond the drama. It's still there, all the good from the early days that I went back and looked at, it's just that people need to look a bit harder for it now that our numbers are much higher.

It is true that often times vocal minorities have the most power of the pulpit, but they are just that, the minority. If the fandom could improve itself in any one way, I think that would be it. People need to just tune out a lot of the neigh-sayers and doom-and-gloomers and just keep calm and brony on. That would solve about...90% of the drama, which just so happens to be self-driven.

I am similar to a lot of people here. having been in this fandom since its birth, I have come across a wide assortment of people, and to be honest, the majority of them were really cool people, just easy to get along with and genuinely helpful and fun to be around. Now I may be looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses, but it genuinely did seem like a better community.

It's one of the reasons I like this site, its a slight reminder of how it used to be. I mean of course not everyone agreed all the time but we could appreciate the difference in opinions and go our own way.

To me there are too many divides in the community to make me feel like this fandom will ever be right again. Then there is a certain sect of MLP fans who seem to be becoming weirder and weirder, alienating themselves from the rest of the fandom.

But I have not lost all hope, I still have a lot of fun within this community and I like to contribute, even if perhaps I am not the most skilled. I have made a lot of good friends in this fandom, and I hope to keep having fun

I will never lose interest in this Fandom

i found this famdom a few months after it's birth and have loved it ever since. it's got such awesome and caring people and it's just what everyone needs, a few months after i introduced it to one of my best friends, he was going through a rough time and everyone here cared for him and, well, loved and tolerated the crap outta him xD we talk about it every weekend and over the phone

i can never see myself leaving the fandom, never

The fandom, as in the community as a whole, bores the skull out of me at times. Bronies seriously need to stop discussing and being panicked of the same things over and over again.

But I will never get bored of the fanmade materials, and I still have this small circle of friends around me to keep me company in this hellhole of a place some people calls home community :3

I quite enjoy the show, but I never say I'm a Brony now, just a fan.

The show didn't put me off from it, since I always plan on watching MLP: FiM because Fluttershy is best poni. But the huge amount of asses using the show, the term and the community to their benefit put me right off it.

I don't care if someone says to someone else that they're a Brony, but when I'm called it, I find it highly aggravating and pisses me off, especially if it's done on purpose.

I do enjoy some art and music created by individuals, but Bronies need to learn to stop talking about something over and over to someone who honestly can't care less. For example, say you were given a class assignment to talk about something, and a person picks MLP for a reason to put it on YouTube and be a smartass about it trying to make people like it is totally wrong in my books. Then you have all of the people supporting this under the value of "Love and Tolerance" which is a load of crap. You love and tolerate people by accepting they don't want to know about it.

I don't find people loving the show excessively bad or anything, do as you please. May that go to clopping also. So I'm not hating everyone in the general community, only a large majority who set out to purposefully or accidentally ruin the terminology for others.

I will never lost interest in the Fandom, ever since my best friend introduced me to it while I was going through a tough time about 3 months after he found out about it. Everyone here is really kind and I have had an amazing time. I love the fanfiction and fan-animation, and this place really fosters imagination :)

Also Fluttershy is amazing.

Well, I'll be in this fandom until I die Cx Yep.  Even after the fandom dies.

But, if I was leaving, it would be because of the overreactions.  Seriously.  Some of us overreact over every.  Single.  Little.  Thing.  Before it even happens.  When we so obviously can't do anything about it.

Sometimes, we just have to 'get over it'.

Yeah, Twilight's an alicorn, a princess.  THE SHOW IS RUINED!

No.  It's not.  It leaves more room for new episodes, meaning that the show could actually LAST LONGER.  Such as an episode where Twilight deals with fame, or fake friends even.  Or dealing with duties but still keeping time for her friends.

Yeah.  Equestria Girls looks stupid.  THE WORLD IS OVER!

No.  It's not.  EQG will not affect the show.  We already know that.  And yeah, its a bit of a stupid concept and its just to make money.  But it hasn't come out yet.  It is done by the exact people who brought us the show we love.  If anyone can pull it off, its them.  So watch it, don't watch it.  its your choice.  I, on the other hand, will watch it because I watched MLP didn't I?  I gave it a chance didn't I?  Come on guys, don't act like our haters.

...okay done!

I'm sure i will stay on this community for a long time, but keep in mind i am still watching the series. So there is still new content for me to discover and that's the most interesting for me i guess. But if there will be a season 4 my bronyness will only grow. There are also a lot of other things to discover like this forum and deviantArt. I'm definitely not planning to leave. I love the community and the other bronies.

I originally left the fandom because of my dad. He was convinced that every brony looked at pony porn and said he didnt want me to be as " Didgustingly low as the people who disgraced a cute childrens show ".

I came back because screw him. I can do what i want now, i dont look at the porn so his argument is invalid.

I love the art style, and i can never leave Rainbow Dash and Discord =3

You definitely do not need to be a clopper to be a brony. I don't believe that looking at porn is beneficial in anyway so we are in a similar boat. Welcome back!

Anyways, if I am really into something emotionally, I don't like to just up and leave. I have to naturally be slowly pulled away from it for one reason or another. This hasn't happened yet for the brony fandom, but most things that I have been slowly pulled away from take several years before I am completely gone. So as far as I know, I am here to stay for a while, despite the drama.

The drama is irritating and it makes me mad sometimes, but I get over it in a few hours. There is still obvious sanity within the fandom and on this forum, so rational discussion is nowhere near impossible most of the time. Which is a good sign.
