Guilty pleasure bands

Are there any bands or music artists that you like, but feel like you shouldn't? Here, you can leave behind that shame. Post them here, whether it's because of that band or musician being widely hated, or if they're in a genre people make fun of a lot.

For me, it would have to be this guy:

I have a whole album every album by him, no shame.

I see no shame in liking Owl City. I really like Owl City as well as Owl City is a good musical artist. To The Sky is a good song from them along with others.

I like Adele, but I always get made fun of because of it because others think Adele is ugly and sings boring songs. I don't get this as I think Adele is actually quite pretty. Plus, looks don't matter anyway, as that girl can sing. I really like the song "Turning Tables."

You know honestly speaking there are probaly alot of artists I've listened to that have songs I like from them, but I really don't know how people would think about me liking them.

I actually don't mind Owl city at all, they have some cool stuff.

Another one for me personally would have to be Bruno mars. I really kinda like his songs, plus I enjoy singing them to :). Although I feel like most of the people who ever listen to him are girls, thus me listening to him would be considered weird.

I also don't mind Adele either, don't actively listen to her or anything, but she has a few songs that are cool. Its the same sorta case with Owl city and heck a pretty large majority of artists for me really.

Oh another one for me is Nickleback, they're not looked upon highly by alot of people, but I actually like some of their songs, so yeah  sue me, I haven't even really got started.

I'm not totally sure how much I want to throw out there, honestly I can't say theres any artists I truly hate or anything. I'm not really a big fan of the majority of Rap stuff though, but I don't really think i can think of any artists I hate.

Heck I actually like even a couple Justin beiber songs. Of course not a whole lot really, just like 1 or 2 mostly, but thats just to give you an idea of how... tolerable I guess I am towards music?

So yeah, I guess within genres I listen to atleast I don't hate any music, I just might not listen to some stuff.

In terms of other guilty pleasures I have, I'd have to say pretty much any nu-metal band. I see bands like Disturbed, Slipknot, and Linkin Park getting flak for apparently "not being real metal," but I tend to like them along with Maiden, Metallica, and the like.

I don't know why, but I like a few ABBA songs. I also enjoy listening to Metallica every once in a while.

I used to like Disturbed for a little bit lol, I also liked Linkin Park. I always found Slipknot boring though.

I honestly don't understand why people would be afraid to admit what music they listen to. Yeah, there's some pretty morbid music out there and if one were to perhaps question; If music soothes the soul, then what music are you listening to? I mean, there even music out there for zombies. That's right... zombies have their own music. I've never heard it but if zombies had souls, that has to been some pretty rancid stuff. I had one buddy tell me that he was going for a walk and while he was thinking of me, a song came into his head and said that he felt it described me. He was afraid I was going to be offended but I honestly have to say I thouroughly enjoyed other songs made by the band. At any rate, here's the song he thought was going to offend me:

I see no shame in liking Owl City. I really like Owl City as well as Owl City is a good musical artist. To The Sky is a good song from them along with others.

While I can't say that Owl City is musically the greatest guy out there, he is quite unique compared to other mainstream pop artists, his sound is much more distinct and I give him credit for that. Not just only that but he explores different sounds on Ocean Eyes, I still have the deluxe edition of it floating around on my computer and honestly in songs like "Rugs From Me To You" you hear an accordion but then he goes full out electronic on songs like "If My Heart Was A House" and "Fireflies". Now I'm not trying to say that Ocean Eyes is some super album, I myself as a music reviewer would only give the album a 6/10 overall, but still pretty decent compared to other mainstream modern pop artists.

But anyways as for me with "guilty pleasures" I simply don't feel guilty about anything that I listen to, I'll listen to it if I wanna. Probably the most out of the ordinary song that I like to throw on occasionally is this one right here:

This song I just love that guitar and how Ken Ashcorp is able to make an upbeat pop song that sounds mildly seductive without going all out crazy on sexual innuendos and he doesn't bury the track with dirty jokes to the point where the song is too sexual to listen to without puking halfway.

Also that's one SUPER sexy panda right there

That awkward moment when I love Disturbed and I like Slipknot quite a bit.

I guess a really big guilty pleasure of mine are these two songs:

I am not a fan of Estelle, but I do like that song "American Boy" I usually don't listen to music like that, I usually listen to old rap by Dr. Dre, NWA etc.

gotta say, ive got a soft spot for ALL MUSIC DISCO! its kinda a guilty pleasure where i am anyway, a place that is all metal and country, nobody makes room for the disco...

anyone can become an artist, but a true masterpiece can only come from someone who is truly in touch with spirit and mind

Hmm, I don't really have much I'm ashamed to listen to, to be honest. Most people don't like a lot of the music I do (as lots are relatively unknown despite their talents, like Sleepy Kitty and The Mowgli's).

I'd have to say that possibly the only thing I can't admit to liking is probably...hm...I guess it's bad that I give in and listen to some good old Tangled soundtrack every so often. (I have no idea why. I don't even like it that much. It just gets stuck in my head.)

It's horrible, I know...*hangs head in shame*

I'd have to agree. If disco hadn't died in the States, we might have seen it evolve in the same way it did in Europe. Since European disco eventually led to genres like house and eurodance, I sometimes wonder what would have happened to it in the U.S....

I admittedly love Owl City as well. Not something I listen to on a regular basis, but I can't really say I hate what I'm hearing when an OC song plays.

The band I really get bullshit for listening to though is Nightwish, and I have no clue why either.

I like Nickleback. There, I said it, ok?! I mean, sure, they're generic, but for all the flak they get, they're still a lot better than some of the 'music' out there. Don't judge!

At first I was extemely embarrased by listening to country, mostly Rascal Flatts, but now I realize If I'm not going to be made fun of for watching MLP why as hell should I be scared of listening to country. MLP has actually done quite a bit for me. I can control my anger better, not embarraased to do simple things like listening to my favorite type of music, and made me be able to realize who gives a buck what I like it's my life and I should enjoy it the way I wan't.

One artist: Rihanna.

I don't care if Chris Brown beat her and her music seemed to take a weird turn after that, I still like some of her stuff, like Umbrella.

Nobody hates Nightwish, I don't like them but I've never seen anyone hate on them.

I'd say they're just as bad as stuff like Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. I find a lot of hard rock in general to be boring.

Most of the music I like I'm openly willing to admit. But I do have some guilty pleasures. Most notably being Kelly Clarkson. She gets stuck in my head bizarrely often...and I don't really mind.

Funny. I've never been hated on, or seen anybody being hated on, for liking Nightwish. Last time I checked, they were one of the most well-liked symphonic metal bands.

I dunno, over the internet I recieve almost no negative remarks as to what music I listen to, but IRL I get a bunch of people hating on Nightwish and MSI, must just be the people I'm hanging around.

But seriously, I don't care. To be honest, I don't know why I like 'em, hence why its a guilty pleasure. Although nothing, nothing , NOTHING is as bad as Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, One Direction, etc. There's bad, and then there is them. But if you disagree with me...

I don't get why people would listen to bands like Nickelback and Creed in the first place, they're just bootleg versions of Pearl Jam.
